called ID showed this number.  Hung up after 5 rings and answering machine came on -- 2/10/08 at 4:04 p.m. Central Time

typed it in google and got this and other message boards..

Received call from 1-202-552-1952; Called number back. Research company and if I would like to participate.  The answer is no and isn't this false representation and fraud; I'm on a do not call list; let's get rid of pukes like these who prey on the American household! Enough said.

Received call from Washington D.C. area code: 202-552-1952. Caller ID said Eyewitness News. Assumed fraud so did not answer.

Got this call today with no message I did not call back - I am so glad I found this site - could not figure out why they were calling me and scared me - like maybe someone I knew in an accident - I am in the twin cities area of Minnesota

Call from 202-552-1952 today, 9/4.  When I answered, the caller hung up.  I called back and got a recorded message asking for my name and phone number.  I just left a message and told them not to call back.

didnt answer, but after some research it sounds like the local news station here in wichita, ks.  KWCH channel 12 "eyewitness news".  My number is unlisted as well.

Caller ID said Eye Witness News. Googled the number and found this.

received call that said eyewitness news on caller id, but left no message - did not recognize area code

I just got the call in the Fargo/Moorhead area, same deal.  I called it back and I got an automated messege asking me to participate in a poll and wanted me to leave a message with my name and phone number, prob not a scam, just un-ethical marketing of some sort. This will get worse now that we are in an election year.

Obviously, there are many 'eyewitness news' monikers used around the country by different networks.  There's one in the Twin Cities, for example.  I've read many other locations in these posts with the same.  Number might be legit, might be a scam.  How would one number cover all these different networks around the country?  If you can't tell, you have to assume it is a scam/hoax to protect yourself & privacy.   I didn't and don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number since my number is unlisted & unpublished.  Which leads another question how they got my number if they are a simple random survey outfit.

I answered their call and particiapted in an automated political poll which they were conducting. They were asking such questions (1) Which would I vote for Barack Oboma or John McCain? (2) Which would I vote for Hillary Clinton or John McCain?  (3) Was I Liberal, Moderate or Conservative? (4) My political affilliation?  (5) Most important issue to be facing Americans to be addressed by the next President (10 choices).  (6) My income level. (7)  Etc.  The message ended saying that I could view the results of the poll on ABC Eyewitness News.  I have not followed up on that.

We got a call from "Eyewitness News" this afternoon (5-17-08). Glad to see I wasn't the only one who got that call! Must be nothing...

I answered the phone and it was a survey a Wichita, KS station is doing. (I forget the call letters they stated, but it sounded legit.)

Just recieved a call from this number tonight.  The caller ID said Eyewitness News (which is channel 7 here in NY) but do not know anyone who works there.  I always screen my calls with my answering machine so if it's not that important for them to leave a message, then it's not important for me to pick up!

Since so many people all over the US are recieving calls from this number, it is safe to say that it is a scam.  Have been also receiving calls from caller ID named "Florida".  Didn't the Bush Administration pass the Patriot Act?  Why isn't our government spying on these companies that are harrassing us??? Or is it actually our government spying on us???

Received call from 202-552-1952, it was a survey from Eyewitness News asking about the Sean Bell shooting verdict in New York.  It was a short survey, results will be on tonights 11:00 P.M. news in NYC.

I received the eyewitness news call today...I wasn't home...no message was left.  For a minute, I thought I was quasi-famous.  Then again, who wants to be famous on Eyewitness News? Yes, smells like a scam...
