Patrick called last week, I hung up on him.  He called back today and gave me this phone number to call and a code ac141to give to the operator when they answered.  I told them I wanted cash so the only thing they asked me for was my address.  Said they were the government giving "grants" of $7500.00 out to a selected 1700 people.  I took the information down and hung up.  I figured it was some sort of scam and did not want to call the number as directed.  Wasn't sure what would happen.  The number Patrick called from was "unknown".

I just received a phone call saying I was entitled to 7500.00 in a fed grant. She asked me if I wanted it deposited in my checking, money gram, or western union. I said western union. She gave me a confirmation number and as she started telling me the number to call back we were disconnected. A few hours later a man called and said the same thing but gave me a different confirmation number but the whole phone number. I called the number but got no answer. I then went on the web and found this site. They were not speaking well English. So beware they are still out there.

Just got a call from these people. they said they were from the government but all had foreign accents. they said i had qualified for a 7500 dollar grant that i did not have to pay back. i thought it all sounded weird so i told the lady how do i know this is real and not someone just trying to get my information and she said hold on a minute. when she came back on the phone she gave me an id number and a call back number. she said call this number give them this id number and they will explain it to you. still thinking this sounds weird i go ahead and call the 202-559-7618  number and it rings forever and finally another lady answers she takes the id number and then says that i had selected to recieve cash and i say again how do i know this is real and not a scam. she gets flustered and says hold on a minute. after about 10 minutes she gets back on and says that she has to talk to her supervisor to please hold again. before i could say anything she puts me on hold and then hangs up. Thank god i was smart enough to realise something wasnt right and not give my information. and thanks to this site for letting me know i wasnt the only one. my question is tho how did they get my name with the phone number when i have a prepaid phone? how did they get my birthdate and address? someone needs to stop theses people.

I got the same BS call about receiving a $7500 grant for being awesome and paying my bills. I asked a million questions and asked "if the country is in a trillion dollars in debt, how can they give away free money?" Out of curiosity I called the 202 # and the woman gave me the whole western union spill just like everyone else. I immediately check the # online and sure enough a scam like I expected. I called the # back (since the initial call comes from "unavailable") and I told the lady if they ever called me again I would report them to the FTC. She said " did I ever call you? NO!! You're a f****r" and hung up on me. Obviously a scam, but I got a great laugh out of her accent saying "f****r" hahahahaha

I had the same thing. The call came in as unavailable and it was an Indian man. They gave me a confirmation # and told me to call back (202) 559-7618. I searched the number and found these posts. So I called back and gave the lady (also Indian) my confirmation number. I asked her what the catch was and she said no catch I would just have to pay a $295 release fee since the money would be going from one state to another. I said well no I would rather not pay any money. She said "OK fine!" and hung up.

I was called a Bi*tch and to stop calling her at the 202-559-7618 number!

I received the call yesterday,9-19-13. A woman, speaking poor English informed me that I had been selected to receive $7500 due to a Grant Government Give-Away, a once in a life time deal!! She provided the 202-559-7618 number and she told me that I had to call back with the confirmation number that she had given me.
I knew that this was a Scam from the "Get-Go".  I called the number and another woman answered, she said she was the mananger and she was from the US Government. Again, the same verbage, " I had been selected to receive grant money."  She had no idea that I have years of experiance in grant writing and there are many rules to receive a grant, including an application.
Call the Fraud Department and your bank to report these scammers.

It seems that this is a big operation after reading in Google the number of individuals getting these calls for various years.  Why have they not been caught is my question?

Do not provide any information. Report to the authorities.

I also received the same call, claiming that I had won the Grand Prize.  I followed along, aware that It could possibly be a scam. Gave me a money confirmation # and told me to call 202 559 7618.  I did as I was told and called, a women then answered. When I told her I wasn't going to pay she mumbled awhole bunch of stuff and hung up on me. I called back again just to annoy them. The same women answered, now if it really was the government chances are you won't get the same person. I told her to explain why I wasn't going to get my money, she got so pissed off and started yelling that it was a government policy and hung up. Now come on, I get a better customer service call from Walmart then I did with them. It's a scam so be careful.

I just received the same phone call from some guy with an Ontario phone # 416-364-1111 who called me about 4 times today so I finally answered the phone. He gave me the same story as the others along with the 202-559-7618 # & an ID # to give when I called as SOON AS POSSIBLE to verify my information for the FREE MONEY. My son called the # for me & I looked it up online. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for the information everyone. You know what they say, "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is". I will be calling the Federal Trade Commission & reporting this.  This is definitely a SCAM.
