yep they almost got me to i got all there information 200 Independence Ave SE W DC Virginia website and everything 2026210739. the dude could barely speak English I had to ask him to repeat himself alot. I told him im not exactly sure what was going on and they assured me it was real they verified my name age and addres. but what was wierd was he miss spelled my first and last name so i figured if the government had money for me atleast they could have got my name right then i hung up. then they called me back. IDIOTS they almost had me tho. total scam. thank you guys for posting it makes me feel better they didnt get anymore information out of me.

I was called by these people and they told me that I applied for a grant. Im not even the type of person that will apply for anything other then a job. That was the first red flag. Then he told me that he would send me a grant through western union, red flag #2. Then he told me to bring 250$ for a security deposit

ya i had the same thing happen to me but I got sideways with him and called him a terrorist, which is out of character for me, and he told me he was going to blow up the White House so I called the police and am waiting for a response. I hope they shut these thieving pigs down.

Same thing happened to me today!!! They said that I got a grant of $7800 and to pick it up at my local Western Union. This is a scam, don't fall for it. The guy's name who I talked to was David Steve.

I just hung up on a call from the same number same SCAM! the ladies name was FIONA MORRIS.

I received a call from 'Rex' at 845-928-2102.  He gave me a song n dance  about getting a free $5000 government grant.  All I had to do was call this 202 number, give them my file number, then go to Western Union to wire $214 and the $5000 would immediately be sent back thru WU.  So many flaws in this attempt at scamming...  First, the gov does not just hand out $5000 to individuals for no reason.  Second, even if they did, they sure wouldn't use WU for it!!  I told him to take me off the call list, learn English and quit ripping people off.

I got this call today.I have to go to Western Union and pick up the 7,000...but I have to have $250 to pick it up..Of course it will be reimbursed..My response to them..Lady I have worked all my life..The Goverment is not going to help me.If you call again I will report you.

My call actually came from 202-657-1111 but the call back number provided to me was: 202-621-0076.

The caller said his name is Nelson Hurley and he was calling with a heavy foreign accent stating that the U.S. government would like to give me a grant of $7950.00. He gave me his employee id, gave me another number to call once I got to Western Union to collect my money. He also gave me an address and my grant approval file number with instructions of what I was to do once I reach Western Union. He also made sure he told me that there was a $150.00 security deposit. It was very suspicious and stalker-like. He had my entire name on file including my age and address. When I attempted to call him back at the cell number he called me from, the operator stated that this person could not receive any calls at the time. So, I called the call back number to verify the company's name: Federal Government Grant Department; and, how they got my information ("you must have applied for a loan"). Now I am doing my research with regards to this phone call and sharing my experience with others. Thanks for sharing your experiences as well. :) God bless!

They have called me plenty of times stating if i give them the225 they would give me 8000 in return. This is a bunch of b***s*** they should be arrested.They need to stay in there country because ther probly using the money to get here in the us.immoral b*****ds

My son actually answered a call from the 1-202-621-0076.  A person by the name of Gloria Kelly Id#GK1250C said that he had won $7,800.00 and all he had to do was send $225.00 via Western Union. Of course my 18 year old son was so excited. When I got home I returned the phone call. Of course you really cant understand what they are saying, sounds like they could be spanish. I told her that I had received a phone call earlier, she never verified my name. I asked her what the $225.00 was for and she said it was for a verification check. I asked her did she think i was stupid and told her that was the biggest scam that I had ever heard of. Of course she tried to play the "I don't know what your talking about" role. I went on to tell her that first of all you do not have to pay money in order to get money, especially a grant. If something is that easy than more than likely it is a scam. What if my son would have went to Western Union? Everybody, please understand, yes times are rough, some of us are struggling. I am a single mother of six and I truly need a financial blessing, but this is not it. If something doesnt feel, or talk right--more than likely its not right--go with your instincts. Try to get whatever info you can get from them and dont be afraid to ask them questions. I pray that no one else give a way their money and I pray that the ones that did will somehow get their money back.

Actually got a call from 202-657-1111 with the same crap of having been the lucky 'winner' of a government grant for $7800.  The man gave his name as Rex Watson.  He had a very heavy accent and he was difficult to understand.  Couldn't even pronounce my name.  Told me to bring my claim number, my ID, my cell phone (so I could call THIS number that you've all reported and someone at that number would 'help me') and $235 'security deposit'.  When I got to Western Union, I was supposed to call this number back and they would give me more info about where to send the deposit and then I would get my grant money along with the return of the security deposit.

A lady by the name cindy wilson called me and notifed me that i had been selected for an U.S fedrel grant in the amount of 8025 dollars and it was free money that i would not have to pay back and that i would recieve that amount every year for the next five years. then she goes on the notify me the reason i was selected was because i did not have any bankrupcty and that it showed that i pay my bills on time. she said that i need to go to the western union to recieve this money and she told me to call back when i get to the western union and she would walk me through the process, so i get to the western union and call cindy back and she advised me that i had to send in a one time fee of 225 dollars for a processing fee and then i would get the money so i sent the money she gave me a name and address to send it so now iam waiting for her to give me a control number, then she starts saying that i had to pay a irs tax on the money to get the money which was and addional 400 dollars not thinking it was a scam because she told me she was from the fedrel grant program and called me from a washington, DC phone # so i sent that money in thinking i was going to receive 8025 dollars then cindy tells me that i had to activate the controll number which was another 300 dollars, alreay in over my head i had to follow trough with it praying it was not a scam considering she said she would stay on the phone with me until i received th e money so she put me on hold and the phone got disconnected so i called back and some other person anwsered the phone so i explained to him that i need to talk with cindy about activateing my controll number and he stated that he was her senior adviser and she was busy with another person that he could help me so i said ok i need my controll number activated and he stated that i had to pay and addional 400 dollars because the fee was 700 not 300 and he could not activated it and was like why was i not told that form the begining and he was like the system would not complete the process unless they had the whole amount and that i could call back when i get the 400 i was like no just give my money back and u can keep your grant and said that there was a 200 cancelltaion fee in which now i knew i was just scamed out of my hard earned money but thats not the worst part 2 days later a simlar number call so i anwsered the phone and someone agian clamied that i was selceted for a federal grant, get this she ask me iam i worndering why i was selceted and i said i know actually why i was selceted and she hung up the phone. we need to do something about these people they need to stop and arrested

First thing is one should get the written statement / letter from Government or at least an email. Just through the phone call - it clearly shows it is a trap.

I received a call supposedly from the U.S. Federal Government Grants Department Healh & Human Services. They said I could receive a grant of $7800 to do anything I wish to. The individual identified herself as Cathrine Patton at phone number 202-621-0076 extension 4990. Red flags began to pop up so I told her I would call her back and did some investigation.  At first it looked legit when I Googled the Department but then  I Googled the phone number and then I seen that it was a scam. These people need to be arrested.

I knew it was to good to be true! I was like free money that i have to pay for??? haha PASS!!

They now use a new number too 3548795865: It did not make sense as the government always direct deposits the money in your account. Please beware, also if it is the government they can send a check directly to you. Don't fall for this crap.

They called for my fiance saying he would get 7800 if he paid 225 at western union .. haha this Arab guys name was Stephen walker .. really ?? Haha who Is from a diff country with a name like that .. dumbass ppl .. my fiance got all excited and wanted to drive there to get money lol glad we didn't
