I beleive I was a victim of this today but I gave money then they lied and told me that the info was wrong and tried to get more money from me

A man with a foreign accent called saying he was from the government and because I paid my taxes and had not filed bankruptcy in 6 months the government was giving me a $6000 grant.  He left me with an ID number and a call-back number.  However, I've learned that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  So I did a search to find there is a lot of these scams going on using a variety of numbers.  This is so sad since that's more money than I made all 2010 and I sure could use it!  I'm very thankful for the information found here which saved me time and a fraudulent "processing fee".

This is a fraud, they want your money.  Don't give them the satisfaction.

Y they just calld me back from a 0000123456 #...i guess they plan on giving me the run down to...but they have another thing coming...

Same thing here...today is march 11th & they r still @ it...i didnt blieve it either...they calld me from a 248-918-1100 & told me to call 206-866-5054(western union $ to Ashton Woods once i arrived) lol...but neva went along with it...although i tried to call that 248 # back & it was a inactive cell phone...REAL SCAM ARTISTS

I just received a call from 2025808332. They told me a similar story with a promise of $5000. This is a sinful, virulent, sadistic world we live in. I knew it was a scam or else I would've received $5000 without having to pay a security fee of $190. This stuff makes you not want to trust anybody. Call 911 or your state governor's office if you've been scammed. They will get locked up immediately, when caught.

The number that called me was "970-123-6459".  Unbelievable!

I just got a call saying I had been selected for a special "Western Grant" of $6000 because I had always paid my taxes on time and I did not have a criminal record.  They wanted to verify my address, which I did not do (they had an old address), and to call "202-657-6307" and give them the number of "WG 1012".  I did not call the number back.

NEW PHONE # Called me from 970 123 6459, told me to call 206 201 2560. Called them and they said the same thing. $6,000 grant after I send $199 to India. I told him to let me check up on this to see if it is legit. Then the guy called me 3 times asking where was I at, go back the western union... This is a scam. I will do my part in stopping it!

Received a call today telling me about 'free' grant money from the U.S.  I found it strange that someone who could hardly speak english was telling me about a U.S. Government program!  I didn't call the number she gave me....nothing in life is free....especially from the government!!!

there is one prosses that can stop these thing put ur phone no to govt an u will pay 20$ every month and ur no will be in do not call list

they call me 4 time and i know that they call from india caus i vent to in dia to cheak these out

They told me the exact same thing as everyone on here, about receiving the $6000, if only I pay $199. How can I report this, and who can I report this to?

called about goverment grant asking me to send 200.00 to them and they would send me 6,200.00 back with in minutes to the western union office where I sent them their 200.00 they said no scam that they are the goverment office but can`t get any information on them with location or other information

I got the call about Goverment Grant for Christmass and pay off all my bills so I called back and they told me to go my Western Union office and pay 200.00 Dollars and I would receive a check for 6,294.00
that I coulkd do with I please and not have to pay anything back. Red F** Pop up SCAM, aske3d him for more infomation and he just told me to go to western union and call him back. This guy needs to be put away so us senors

Scam phone number for a us government grant

They called me today and told me they were the US Government Grant Department.  I thought what they said was legit and I became a victim of their scam! They told me they would give me $6000 if I sent them $199. I actually sent the $199 (which was stupid of me!) and then they wanted more money. I can't believe this crap! Someone needs to put a stop to this!

This number has been calling me about a free goverment grant of $6000.00 and I believe it to be a scam how can I protect myself? I believe these people should be caught and convicted of their crime this is not far

They called me and told me the same thing to not talk to the western union until they recieved there 199.99 and they would give me $6000

The man who called had a thick foreign accent, requested that I take money down to the local Western Union office and call him back after making a security deposit so that I could receive my free Government Grant of $5,000.  Has anyone actually gone and given this deposit to see what happens?

Asking people to take $199 tothere local western union and then call the number and they will receive a $5000 tax refund.

This is a scam Number that checks back to a land-line in Westchester, D.C. Asking people to take $199 to there local western union and then call the number and they will receive a $4700 tax refund.
