(202) 666-2441 DC, USA is what my caller ID says and I don't answer calls i don't know. Not sure if this is the same people as mentioned on this post. Right after I ignored their call another DC number called my fiancé (509) 646-8945 his phone said unknown but I looked it up online and it says it's a landline number. The number that called me has done it a few times.

It is a scam:
http://www.snopes.com/fraud/advancefee/grants.asp
" Regarding the government grant scam, keep these three points in mind:
The U.S. Government does not telephone people to offer them grants.
Grants are never guaranteed, nor are they issued for no apparent purpose, so folks should be downright suspicious of any talk of grants where the words "free" or "guarantee" are bandied about.
Real government grants require extensive documentation with great attention to detail. There is nothing simple or painless about securing a government grant."

I got the same call twice and he told me i was going to get 8,400 from the United States Grant Department, he said to me the same things he said to you, then i asked if he could mail the check instead of me giving him my account number and he said that they could not do it, and it needed to be wired into a bank account. The first time he called i bombarded him with all these questions and this time when he called he seemed to have all the answers... it sounds fishy to me

i have been getting calls all week from 202 numbers never picked up till today. They told i was given a grant of 10,000 which later became 8,000. He told me i was chosen because i payed my taxes on time and haven't filed for bankrupt. Then he told me that all i needed to do was give him my account numbers to my bank. I told him that i don't have that info he kept on asking for it. He eventually told me he would call back later. Next time think about asking to get a check to see what the say.

Same type of call as everyone else. The phone 202-666-6600 are the same scammers. What scares me is that they called my unpublished cell and asked for me by name. The students at my college who receive these calls begin getting them 24 hrs after their FAFSA confirmation through gmail. The students who have not done their FAFSA have not received the calls. I would like to find out where the leak is from. From what I know, this has happened to people from different states and with different phone carriers. Has anyone else filled out a FAFSA or have a gmail account?

Same call as above. Told I was chosen to receive grant money, but I had to give a bank account. I told him I wasn't comfortable with it and I believe that was a scam. To which he immediately hung up.

This phone number is used by people in Washington DC who seem to be immigrants. they say they are from the United States government. they claim that they are giving away free grant money from the government. it seems to be a big ol scam
