QWest & Centurylink sell all your information if you switch your phone line so go to white paged immediatly & remove your phone information. There was stuff on mine that was so far out there I couldn't believe it. Companies sell info about you that isn't correct & put you out there for calling lists.

What I was trying to say above, is that it appears that charitable/political, and certain other types of calls, are exempted from the federal automated call ban to landline phones.
As far as wireless phones are concerned, the majority of sources indicate that all automated calls are federally illegal to cell phones without at least implied permission such as giving your cell phone number to an airline to notify you of a flight cancellation which would likely be done by an automated dialer. But, there are others claiming that charitable/political calls are exempt from the automated call ban to cell phones, too.
It gets complicated and confusing with different rules for cell phone versus
landline, business versus political/charitable, on do not call list versus not on do not call list, etc.

Have received two calls from this number on my landline, the 1st call two days ago and the 2nd call this evening.
The first call went something like: "This is the Family Research Council conducting a brief survey. Are you registered to vote?" I hung up.
The second call went something like: "This is Ed Meese, President Reagan's Attorney General, conducting a survey. Are you registered to vote?" I hung up.
I called the 202-677-3055 number and got a recording that said "The voice mailbox for (white noise only) is full."
One would think that if the callee hangs up on call, the organization would have been smart and considerate enough to program their machine not to call that number back, I guess not.

If I'm not mistaken, the restriction on automated calls applies only to calls to wireless devices, not landline phones.

Called several times. Last time-- "are you registered to vote (pause) do you think 9-11 first responders should be helped?" A political poll, maybe even a "push poll". Unfortunately surveys and political calls are exemopt from Do Not Call.. Our state has law against automated calls but it is considered unenforceable.

This phone number keeps calling and as soon as I answer there is a recording asking if I am voting in 2012 election and I am, am I going to vote for Barrack Obama. I want these phone calls to cease immediately! Voting is my right as an American. I shouldn't have to tell anyone if I am voting or if I am voting for a certain someone.

Same here, calls, hangs up. Got 1 message said it was for a political poll, of which I signed up for nothing at all related to this, and they would call back, rest are hang ups. This is a govt-issued cell phone, I am on the Do Not Call List, called back, mailbox full. I only know it's about the president from sites like this. I thought automated calls like this were made illegal after a man died of a heart attack b/c his wife got a computer dialed call, could not disconnect to dial 911, so they made these illegal?
I have NO idea who the owner is, going to make complaints to Do Not Call regulators, which has stopped this for me in the past.

This is both harassment and violation of privacy. they should not have access to personal cell phone nmbers
It's a Poll 2011-08-28 23:59:19 Unknown
If you actually answer when they call, it's a political poll trying to gauge your opinion of the president. Which would have been fine, if the poll weren't conducted by a machine that only understands "yes" or "no" <_<
Mike B 2011-08-28 23:48:41 Unknown
Called - no message - can't call back because vm is full.
Joanne Crow 2011-08-26 21:03:44 Unknown
