I received the same call from the 202-738-1065 phone number.  The lady informed that I am going to received a free Federal Grant money.  The only catch is that I have to make a security deposit in order to get the grant money.  Don't  be fool by this trick.   It is a scam.....

Uggh, I got this same call yesterday evening around 5:30. Thick-accented lady telling me that I was approved for a $7000 grant from the "US Federal Reserve Department",. her name was Michelle and she gave me an approval # (LAP247) told me to call 202 so & so number. I called the number and talked to another thick-accented man named Tim. I spoke to Tim at least 5 different times bcus I kept calling back with questions. I damn near spoke to 4 different people, all heavy accents, all knew each other because I used each's first name. If you work for the Federal Reserve I'm sure they have thousands of workers who don't know each other by first name -.- He told me I had to purchase a Money Pak card thingy and load $260 into it, go to Western Union & after I told him the number on the Money Pak that I could go in and get the transferred money via Western Union 15 min after I gave him the number. I really sat here & got ready to go do exactly what he told me to do. My skepticism overpowered my faith in that this was real so I ran this by good ol' Google & here I am. *sigh*

I received a phone call from this same number 202-738-1065.  Thanks for your posts, glad to know it is a scam!!  And that we have a way to find out so easily.

I got called today by that same number talking about a grant money from the U.S. by Washington D.C. telling me I have been selected out of a few 150,00 people across the nation. I asked what I would have to pay they told me nothing and asked me for my account number (stupid me gave them that) I got a confirmation number of LC122 and told them to call this number (202) 738-1065. I called several times and no body answered. I then googled this area code and found alot of articles that this was a scam. I kept trying to call and until I finally got an answer I asked the guy for a brief discussion about the grant and he hung up on me. I called again but never got a response so I used *67 (the hidden caller id) till someone else answered and I asked for their name he neglected to give me his name so upon reading one of these names I asked if a mike stricker worked there and he said he would transfer me, I then stopped him and actually asked for a supervisor and told him I would like to cancel the grant and he said okay. Before hanging up I then threatened him that if there was any cent taken from my account that I would call the F.B.I and file a lawsuit against them. He then replied nothing like that would happen and hung up.
I'm not entirely sure If this worked but I will be keeping an eye on my account and if so I would recommend calling your bank and telling them exactly what happened so they can cancel your account and be granted a new one.
I'll keep you all posted on what happens. Make sure if you have college young adults to teach them about this cause I'm recently a college student and even I got scammed.

My caller said his name was Barry Allen. I asked if he was the Flash. Did not know what I was referring to.

Yup just got the call. These people are like half retarded.

I recieved the same phone call on April 2nd. I got the same run around as all the other comments made above. I called the F.T.C registry and had my numbers blocked by future scammers. The differance between my call and the others above I was called an ugly name he said "You F...... B....!" I got called today with the same scam! I called that 1065 number and he said What the f... do you want?" I want these scumbags arrested! What makes it worse is I have severe Epilepsy so I am disabled.

The government needs to investigate these foreign scumbags, get rid of them, and stop these annoying phone calls to "true Americans." The government, business or anyone gives out free money over the phone!

wow i did receive a call from Lucy an indian lady  that told me that i was chosen from the us government to get a 7000 dlls grant to continue my school and gave me the same number youall guys have, told me a confirmation number LC122 and told me to call the 202 number once i did he told me to deposit 210 dlls on my own wester union accoiunt to know and verify that i was the same person n i was gonna receive 70210 rightthere n then n withraw this money fter 10 min i told him i had a savings account and if he needed to know the right person well the bak had verify i was the right one asking for a picture id dahhh so wasnt that supposed to be enough? he got mad and he told me that anyone could claim it so they needed  a wester union account but before to  buy a green dot money package which is for sale at any walgreens or cvs blabalbal for 4.95 and then to go to the wester union i called today  and no one answered they say they r off on monday so picture that!!! and  the other thing i didnt like was the fact that i dont believe the government will hire indians to work... its a total SCAM

i agree with u all and i just got call today too and i was barerly do things that wht they have told me to do .but when i search for this number abt infomation then u guys came up and i was so happie that i didnt do it and yes the lady and they guy were like kind of same fraud people .her name was gloria kelly and his name was david long .wich is sound weird his accents was middle eastern indian voice and hes got kind of chinese name ..so who ever try to do that i must say its fraud and scam .so please beware those people got nothing to loose and they dont have shame to taking money from innocents .we should let the goverment know that those people are scamming people and must stop it .otherwise they will destroy lots of peoples ....

I received a call from a man claiming to be Mike Striker saying I won a great in the amount of $7000 with a one time payment of $198, for being a good citizen, and told me not to use it to do anything illegal. We must warn people.how did he get my info

I just got the same phone call he claimed he was Mike Striker same line and number. But he had a mix of Indian Australia accent. This makes me angry, he told me not to share any info with anyone.asked for $198. And said he said I'd be getting it back through western union.

A very heavily middle eastern sounding accented man called me who gave the name Henry. He told me I had received a $7,000 grant from the us government. He gave me a number to call 2027381065 and a confirmation number NP121. I am expected to receive govt money, due to unemployment and pursuit of school assistance.   I do not qualify to apply for it until 1 more week.  Glad I questioned it and research the fraud/scam. It is weird how they knew my name, address, and phone number.  Mostly unusual is how I am to claim it by providing my bank account number or going to western union.  

Just got this same call with all the info you all have posted. An ID number and the same phone number. I could barely understand the person on the other end. The money and reasons sounded too ridiculous to be true. Glad I looked here first. Thanks to every body that shared their experience so this does not happen to others.

I appreciate you all posting this.  I also received a call from a person with a heavy middle eastern accent and a lot of noise in the background.  Same thing - good citizen without any criminal history in the past 12 months, no bankruptcies in the past 12 months, and I am entitled to $7,000 grant but cannot use it for "drugs or gambling."  He knew my name, address and phone number.  He wanted to know if I wanted the money directly deposited into my bank account or if I wanted to pick it up at Western Union.  I told him I would pick it up.  He said to call the Department of Human and Health Services (DHHS) at 202-738-1065 and provide them with my ID#.  I went to Google and found this posting.  I suspected it was a scam.  I'm glad you all are posting as well.  I asked what the catch was and he said I had to call that number to get more details.  Figures.

I hung up as soon as he asked for money!

I received a call from heavy accented man. Gave me a grant #GG85755. Gave his name as Justin. Told me to call 202-738-1065 and give grant # for $7000 dollars from the government. Heavy accented woman answered stated name as Florance Jasper and I told her I was unemployed so she put me on hold and never came back. SCAM!!!! 2nd time this year people have tried to scam me. 13yrs with the credit bureau paid off for me. I hope people do their research before they are taken in. Good luck people. Thank you for your post! I just received the same call only from a heavily accented man, maybe middle eastern decent. Difficult to understand but I smelled scam written all over it. He gave me an ID number and the same phone number 202 738 1065 saying to call and make arrangements to receive 7000 dollars grant money. I looked here first and glad I did. I do not have caller ID on the phone that I received the call on, so I cannot follow up on that part of the conversation.

She told me I had received a $7,000 grant from the us government for being a good citizen. She gave me a number to call 2027381065 and a confirmation number RP205. When I called another heavily accented man answered and I gave the confirmation number I was told I needed to make a deposite of $200 first. I asked for an adress and he gave me 200 independence ave in wash, dc. I told them I would call back with their money. I then called the actual us government grant dep. the dep. of health and human services. Right in their opening message it said the details of the call I just recieved an that it was a scam. I talked to someone that took my info and the info of the phone call. He told me that the us government does no such thing especially not over the phone. I then called the number back just to see if he would admit it was a scam. I asked for his name he first told me Sam Anderson. Later he told me his name was Sam carter and when confronted on this he said Anderson works tomorrow call back and hung up. He hung up a few times and claimed to be a bad connection. When I asked where he was really from he continued to tell me the same address and told me it's no big deal they will just give my $7,000 to the children's charity fund. When I asked why he can just give them the money and not me he hung up. Agian claiming it was a bad connection. He did not have straight answers and avoided most questions just answering with the same nonsense he had already told me.
