i got a call the yesterday like this and when i said "what's the catch"  she hung up.  go a call again today from 000-012-1233 and decide to play along and waste THEIR time.  she said to call  202-738-1973.  to tell the person i wanted to get the money western union.  i couldn't to it right away but when i did a half hour later the number was 'no longer in service'.  i tried again and it worked but was put on hold so i hung up after a minute.  then i called US cellular to see if there was a charge for the call but can't find that out until tomorrow.  it is a washington d.c. number.  i called back and played the game.  the cost to get the money from wal mart was to be 300.00.  i lied to wast their time and said i would go.  i was to call 'sofie' (indian accent) back outside of walmart to bla bla bla.  she read some big long instructions for me.  she will be waiting a long time to hear back from me lol.

I received a call from this unknown number as well and offered $7,500. It makes me really angry because I am 31 and have been recently diagnosed with MS so I'm getting disability now and struggling to pay my bills and have a beautiful 9 year old daughter that is having KVC (similar to CPS) involved because her moms boyfriend molested her and her mom is way  too immature to have a child, let alone 3. I am trying to get custody of my daughter and KVC agrees that it is better for her to live with me. All of that is very rough on me but I'm doing my best and I am angry because these people prey on everybody, including people that are involved in seriously bad situations. I hope it is stopped soon for myself and everybody that might fall for this because they may be in rough times so "Government" offered  money sounds good and would be very helpful.

It is a total scam. There is no such government grants program. You can go to the FTC website and search on Government Grants Scam then report the call to the number listed.  Unfortunately, the callers are from overseas and difficult to locate and prosecute without cooperation from the authorities in the country they are calling from.

I just received this same phone call and could barely understand him. I asked why the government would be wanting my account, then he said to call the number 202-738-1973 right now and get my $7,500 because I didn't have a criminal record and that I had be selected from 1700 people to receive this money. If this was the government sending money, why just not send a prepaid credit card as they do with unemployment $'s? He hung up on me. This is a scam to get something from you. If you have to pay someone to get this, then it is not FREE! Just a warning as this is not something for nothing and is just the opposite as it is nothing for something.

a man by the of "Kevin Smith" called, gave me a western union confirmation #.....insisted they were from the US Grant Dept. and that I was selected to receive a federal grant.

When you call back the 202 #, a lady told me there is a security deposit of $255 that I would have to take and send before I received my money......ya right! The next thing she heard was a dial tone.

I got a restricted call from an unavailable Indian telling me I just received a grant of $7500. I called him aftaking my credit card the lady said that the government's banks were closed for the night and I had to call them back at 11 o'clock tomorrow morningback on the number he provided 202 738 1973 and I talked with the lady that took fake credit card information from me. I was told I was going to get $7500 deposited onto the credit card after I gave the information. I got all of this on recording.  Once i told the lady that she was stupid she called and left a threatening message saying we are the government you don't mess with the government in English is hard as they could. Its priceless on how madd she was when she found out the card was fake. How do i post the recording? Can i sue.  Or will these idiots have nothing done. Someone help hell tjeres enough comments for some type of case?

first call was from a blocked number where they told me a was eligible for a $7500 grant from the government. They gave me a certification number and another phone number to call. I called for the hell of it to see what all they would say. they told me to either go to a western union or WalMart an money gram the $290. I told them I was not going to give into their scam and the women on the phone who could hardly speak English became very rude with me and started to yell. I went to the police station and the women called me back so I gave the phone to the police officer and she told him to mind his own F*?king business and give the damn phone back to me. We hung up on her and she called back again and proceeded to yell and curse at us again. I blocked the number and obviously have not hard anything since. I think the US government should be able to find these people and do something about it. Be aware of this phone number and don't fall for there tricks they had up their sleeves. never give money or any of the banking information away. I think the US should just get ride of Money Grams and as soon as someone sings a contract for a phone the companies should instantly put them on a no call list and ask the customer if they want to be listed or not.

I just received a call form the same company that is on this website. I asked the man who was the company that her worked for and he informed me that he works for the Federal Grants department for the Government. I then asked him how he got my number, if it was from doing a survey, and he answered yes. I did not give him any other information and he told me to call this number back 202-738-1973 and my code is SA207. I would then be told to go to Western Union ti pick up my money.
After the call I came online to look up this number and ran across others that are having the same problem. No I am not going to call the number, but do want this not to be an ongoing problem.

I got the same call two days ago from the same number as people. I went along with it thinking it was true till I got to a western union. I then told the man I transferred the money over. And gave him a Random 10 digit code so he could go get the "money" he then told me my money wouldn't come it ill for days. So I started cussing he then said he could transfer it to my bank which I already cut off bc I knew he would prob try and get my other money also. He then told me it would take up to 12 hours to get my money. I told him many times if it was a scam then he'll would break lose. After a couple hours i called western union and reported it. I will be going up to a local police department Tomo to give this info. My boyfriend also called the number back and went off on them. And they were nothing but rude. Told us to f*** off after we told them we would sue them. Then the man told us he would f*** up my life bc he has my social number. I don't understand how he got it all. But this needs to stop now!

I just received a call from a number out of Ontario (416-364-1111). He sounded like he had a latino accent, maybe Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc. He told me the he was calling "from computer out of Washington, DC" and that he had a grant I could pay off bills with. The US Government selected about 1700 people out of my area, which really struck me as odd since my number isn't listed and it isn't even the same area code as where I live. When I looked up the supervisor's number he gave me, it lead me to this site. I told him my nephew worked for the FBI, and I asked him if it was okay if I recorded the conversation just to be on the safe side. He tried tricking me into giving him my date of birth, asking me when did I last celebrate my birthday. I told him it had been a long time since I've had a great birthday. I asked him for his name, to which he responded "Rocky Taylor". I said that it was a very common last name and where his family originated. He kept trying to pry my birthday out. I told him I wouldn't give him my birthday, but I would give it to the supervisor. He said that I would forfeit my grant. I told him that if the US was going to give me a grant, they'd have done it by US Mail. He then started cursing me, asking me why I was wasting his time. I explained that he was wasting mine, him being the one making the call. He cursed me some more. I told him that if this was a call with the purpose of handing out money, he needed to change his attitude. He hung up.

I googled the number before calling and told the woman (with the bad accent) that this was a scam and asked why she was trying to do this to the American People. She said "WELL IF IT'S A SCAM WHY DID YOU CALL?" I replied to tell you that I have you on lock and you can go F#*K yourself. She told me that she was going to F#*K my husband. What a w***e. IT'S A TOTAL SCAM....Then, my phone rings back and it's her. Caller I.D. has the number as angela31244 (202-738-1973) She asked for me and told me she was the senior vice president of the United States Federal Grant Department. She told me that they were going to charge me for talking to them that way. I said, too bad. I already am recording this call and recorded the last call where you said you were going to "fck" my husband. I told her to shove it up her a** b/c I already reported it to the police.
