Got a call from 202-803-4905  (WASHINGTON, DC) Pretended to be from AARP, asked 5??? on medicare, and then asked my email to report results of the survey. regrettably i gave it to him. called the number back w/same results as above

Same thing! From Washington D.C. I never answer the phone unless I recognize the caller. In this case, my answering machine picked up and a person said "a representative will be with you shortly" Then a person (female) with a young sounding voice kept saying "can you hear me - can you hear me" again and again; Some one in the background was whispering something I couldn't understand. I guess they are training the young person how to annoy people. When I didn't answer they finally hung up. I'm on the Do Not Call list also, but I don't think these creeps pay any attention to it.

Sounds like someone compiling a list of live numbers to sell to others. Best tactic is pickup and then hang up without saying a word. Repeat as necessary. Letting it go to the answering machine just confirms that the number is valid, so picking/hanging up is more effective. You can also get something like PhoneTray Pro which runs on your PC and intercepts calls through a modem. My percentage of junk calls has gone from 50-60% down to 15-20% after 6 months of use.

Dont bother pressing "1" to get off their list, it only confirms for them that it is a good working phone number which they can sell. If you get a person, keep a whistle near the phone and blow their ears out. Better yet, if you see the number, unplug your phone before it rolls to voicemail.

I just received another call from 202-803 4905.  I usually ignore but when I answered, there was a silence. I have registered my phone on do not call registry. Why is this company wasting everyone's time.  It seems there are so many comments.

Got a call from this number yesterday answered the phone and  a  man asks , Who is  this ?  I responded   No  you called  me  who is  this ?   and  he stated  that I had   sent hi  a text !!  NOT   from   this  number !!  and   hung up !!  This morning  received another  call  let it go to voice mail. There was  a lot  of  back ground  noise  then *Brittany* came on and said "Hello this is  Brittany, can you hear me?" several times  then she hung up.  I am  able  to  block   numbers  from calling  and    this  is  now   one  of the many of  my  blocked  numbers !!

Got a call from this number this afternoon, let it go to voicemail. There was a pause then an automated message started then stopped, there was another pause then "Keith" came on and said "Hey this is Keith, can you hear me?" then he hung up. Judging from the above comments I'd also agree that this is a telemarketer and will not be answering it in the future.

I got a call from this number and a man said he was doing an AARP survey on the Social Security. When I asked him if he actually worked for AARP he hung up.

Just got a call from this number (202-803-4905, i.d. is from Washington D. C.) looked it up, it's a telemarketing group, big suprise.
Returned the call, did the instructions for adding to do not call list, now, I'm waiting for these smucks to call back so I can abuse them. I know I shouldn't, BUT, it does feel good to talk trash to idiots.
If these people want to ignore the do not call list, they deserve everything they get.

I had this # on caller ID -- figured it was a robocall.  Seems like Congress could outlaw robocalling -- they aren't doing anything else!  I've already activated the anonymous call blocking feature on my phone.  Will try blocking this # to see if it does any good.

Got a call from 202-803-4905  Said his name was Travis from AARP, started asking a lot of questions about medicare, asked him to put me on do not call list, he kept going on that all info was confidential and started asking questions again.  Called AARP 800 number they deny that they made the call.

Ditto to every comment that: caller ID only displays "Washington DC" then the 202-803-4905 number.
First call rolled to answering machine - w/o message; second call about 30 minutes later (I answered) produced only silence.  Guess I'll wait to see if some "follow-up" call comes from yet another number.

Number was identified as Washington DC.  Silence when I answered.  I agree the Do Not Call list is totally ineffective.

Got a call from this number after 6 pm. they left a message. a man namwd anothony. then he said can you hear me then hung up.

Unfortunately, that did NOT work for me.  This caller has called my landline multiple times, and I notified them to remove me from their solicitation list.  I just received another call from that number about five minutes ago!  You and I, and probably a million other people, are on the CALL FROM HELL list.  I no longer pick up calls on my landline unless I know the caller -- everyone else, can leave a message if it is at all important.

202-803-4905 called, identified as Washington DC....I returned the call and was greeted by a recording of "if you want to be put on a do not call list press one now and allow 48 hours for it to go into effect...."  
Yeah, right....we'll see how well pressing one works.  Hope it does.

We have gotten several calls per day for the past week from this number. We refuse to pick up. It went to VM one time and there was no message, just silence. I see one person has stated that they received a call about a mortgage. We recently refinanced so we bet this is a scam to find out more about the refi. Will never pick up a call where we don't know who is calling.

I recieved a call yesterday and two today from 202-803-4905.  Complete silence on the other end when I pick up.  I called the number, a recording gave me instructions on what to do if I did not want to be called again.  What the heck is going on.........I am with you Judy, what good is the National do not call list as well.....Very frustrating.......I will make it my business not to be curious.......I will not answer any phone calls unless I know who is at the other end.  If it's of somewhat importance they will leave a message.

They called me yesterday and today.  Same thing, no one on the other end when I answer.

Got this call at 1:25 pm EDT.  Wife answered  (caller ID "Washington DC") thinking it was her cousin.  When "Adam" asked 'Can you hear me?' she said NO! and hung up.

We got a call about one-half hour ago from this number, with the phone number listed above and stating Washington DC.  When I picked up the phone, no one was there.  Then about 15 minutes later I got a call from 773-897-5655 and a man by the name of John said he would like to save us money on our mortgage.  When I asked his which mortgage he was speaking about, he just said it was the mortgage that he could save us money on.  We went around a couple more times on that one and then finally he asked me if I had a mortgage that was over 4%.  I said no and he said thank you and hung up.  I think the Washington DC # just calls to find out if someone will pickup, and then they ship your # around for more fraudsters to call.

I usually return the call to these numbers with my MagicJack just to see what I get.  The Washington number was busy as they most always are.  The 773 area code number was a fraudster in the Philippines and I was advised by recording to leave a number and they would be happy to call back.  I bet!.

I have been questioning all these telemarketers that keep calling and have been keeping a log.  I tell them all that we are on the National Do Not Call List.  They all say they are not telemarketers and that the Do Not Call List only controls telemarketers that sell things.  One caller last week was trying to get us to be in a medical trial and they ensured us they were not selling anything.  Let's face it....they are all selling something, whether it is selling votes (I mean you politicians who claim you are exempt), you charities (most of which are not legit), all the cable companies, telephone and other communication companies (who claim they are just "following up" through a partnership with a company that already works with us), and the Marijuana initiative (whatever that is).  Just like prior to the "Do Not Call List" we can no longer use our phones for fear of one of these fraudsters calling us.

I realize there are not a lot of jobs out there but I would rather do a lot of other things that telemarketing fraud.

I received another call from this number today @ 9:11 a.m.  I answered it this time and no one was there just static.

Caller left no message, when I called back I got a message saying if I want to be placed on a do not call list to push 1.  I have been on the do not call list for years.  Why should this be necessary?

I received a call from 202-803-4905 at 10:10 a.m. today.  The caller ID showed Washington, DC.  The call went to my voice mail but there was no message.  What good does the National DNC registry do? Telemarketers just have a recording and keep changing numbers without their name on caller ID.  I very rarely get a call on my home phone from anyone I want to speak with!  Grrrrr
