Just got a call  from these people didn't bother to answer it.The a couple of hours before that cal i got two men who tried to sell me some electricity they wanted to see my electric bill,no way when i tired to tell them i had my reasons for not wanting anything they kept on jibber jabbing and ijus tslammed the door in there faces and they still were mouthing off.you don't go t somebodys door asking to see there bill.No more Scams.Idiots

The way to stop the calls is call the supplier company directly and ask to be taken off their list. In this case the # is 1888-313-9086 for  North American Power.
these companies are in violation of the do not call list.
Do not bother to call the"National do not national registry" back if you are already registered, it does not work .I'm on the list and they still call. If you call CL&P the give you the number to the deregulation  energy center . when you call this they give you another number and it is the national do not call #.

Stop calling my home phone. Our number is on the DO NOT CALL registry, and has been for quite some time.

every freaking day these idiots call--even weekends.made the mistake of picking up once, and caller asked for 'whoever is in charge of the electric bill'. told him that person was unavailable, and hung up. now, just let the answering machine do the disconnecting for me.

Called and I picked up the phone.. ask who is Cl&P bill owner ?? responded no... hang up ...they want you to switch electric companies .. to North America power

Absolutely brilliant!  I just don't answer my phone anymore without Googling if I don't recognize the number.  

And btw.. just because electric is deregulated does not give them permission to call you especially if you are on the DNC list.  CL+P an d UI share info about suppliers in bills and there is a website also run by the state of CT that lists them all.   Here:  http://ctenergyinfo.com/choose_entry.htm

I can promise you if this co has to resort to calling and using force tactics, they do NOT have the lowest rate.  All of the alternatives are lower than CL+P.  The ones with the best rates, don't harass people into signing up, they don't have to!  

EXACTLY!  North American Power has the 2nd MOST EXPENSIVE RATE!!! Do NOT sign up with them no matter what!  So if you sign up with them, you got scammed.

Dominion who I have used, has the lowest and they are very nice.

Got a call last week (3-13-12) from someone claiming to be from "North American Power" who gave his name as Andrew Keller.  I said, "How do I know this is not a scam?"  He told me to call (203) 643-9013 on my cell phone.  I said I couldn't do that since my cell phone doesn't work in this area.  He said to call CL&P to confirm.  I said you can call back in 15 minutes.  I called CL&P, they confirmed the existence of "North American Power".  When he called back I went through the rest of his procedure.  Supposedly I was going to get something in the mail and would have 14 days to cancel.  I haven't received anything in the mail yet.

This phone number calls, nobody says anything.   Called number back, it's out of service.  

It's highly annoying.

P.S. if they are rude then I wouldn't deal with them

About 1 year ago I rec'd a call & the person was very nice - told me the Supplier Co. name - & how it works ---  I didn't understand nor was I able to believe her since I was unaware of this information until this year --- didn't dawn on me to call the United Illuminating Co. to verify if what she was telling me was accurate.

Re: Electric Co. ---- there are legitimate companies that call --- we are allowed to select a better 'rate' ---- it's the 'Generation Service Chg. Rate' on your Bill. I have United Illuminating Co. - the U.I, Co. has included in some of the bill statements - a list of other Suppliers & their rates ----

It may be that many people don't know we have this option & these companies 'are wrongly' not leaving a msg. & explaining your options.

I am not a sales person - when we lost power & there was a U.I. person checking our street - we had a down tree --- I asked 'what it means' the Supplier List --- I was told if you find a better 'Generation Service Chg'. --- from another supplier --- to feel free to change -- I will still receive thru United Illuminating - I can't explain it further --- I still have some questions -  I do know that if that Rate from a Supplier is lower --- it is a good thing & doesn't mean I'm changing Utility Companies - we can't do that ;-)   .

FYI --- this is a reminder to me to review --- I've put off for some time.

Re; CL&P --- don't understand --- why they would be calling --- if you have CL&P. Their rate is on the statement --- that doesn't make sense. Unitied Illuminating does not call me.

They did call me today,and said that they were looking for the person who doesn't even live here, it was someone looking to find out who was responsible for paying my electric bills,Ya right my electric company knows my number and my name so I figured that it was another scam claiming to be CL&P again.Just watch out for them because they are trying to get you to buy something.

My wife received a rude threatening call from this number shortly before noon today [3/5/2012].  Caller only identified self as 'north american power'.     Asked to speak to whomever is in charge of the energy bill. At first my wife said she was,  them remembered I had recently related that electric utilities now consist of servicers and suppliers.  She then told the caller that "this is an issue for my husband".    the caller became rude; "Didn't you just tell me that you were in charge!"   She replied she was initially not paying attention because of frequent 'garbage calls'.  at this point the caller became hostile, screamed something and slammed down the phone.      unless you can trap this caller, don't answer and ruin your day.

Said he was from North American Power. Wanted to know if I was in an energy program. When I said yes he wanted to know if I had a fixed or variable rate. I told him it was none of his business and hung up.

Caller hangs up every time I answer the phone.

Have been getting MORE telemarketing calls since putting our numbers on do not call list

They called us AGAIN today, after we said that we were on a do not call list, and to remove us from your list.  They said it was not a sales call, and that I had signed up for a rate reduction. I said that this WAS a sales call, we are on a do not call list, and if they call back, we will report them to the AG's office.  He said that since we signed up to be contacted, it does not fall under the "do not call' registry.  Hey dumb-o, if we signed up, you would have my name, and not ask for the "person who is on the CL&P account".

Calls often and there is no response

I called the number back and it says "Thank you for calling the enrollment center for north american power if u know your agents extension enter it now or continue to hold for next available agent, if itshese scams for CL&P it was on the news this week to notify local police department. Looked up in google and its an electric carrier

These "utility" companies keep calling me as well.  Just put their name in to a google search along with the word SCAM and you will become enlightened.  I thought solicitors were not allowed to do this anymore?

North American Power. I called them back and said goodby a***ole.

I told the woman she sounded sexy and to keep talking. When she started again I started to moan and told her I was about to unload, she hung up pretty quick. I pulled the same trick on a male telemarketer he sounded too into  it so I hung up pretty quick.

3 times they've called.  The last time they said they were from North American Power to offer me a special rate.  I said I was too busy to talk and she was emphatic that I speak with her.  I had to be rude and say, "Not now!"  Then I hung up.

I just got a call from somebody very very rude telling me that they are with cl&p and that i paying more that i should write this stuff down...whatever she was soo rude and demanding...i told her i didn't want to deal with her, so i hunged up...and she called again...so i told i am the owner and didn't want to deal with people like her...then i hung up..Gezzz seriously she was vicious...

Person has called numerous time. Picked up and no one responded
