I am in Georgia and have been receiving calls for at least a year now. I do not answer anymore, as when I did in the past it would hang up. And they never leave a message. Very annoying.

Calls - gets the answering machine then hangs up.  2 or 3 times a week.

He said he was Mr. Goodman and then asked if I could hear him all right.  I said, actually, no and then he hung up.

How To Stop These Calls
1) Contact your State's Attorney's General's Office, Charity Division.
2) Request help dealing with Commercial Fundraiser(s), and Charities harassing you.
3) You will need Both the Commercial Fundraiser's and Charity's contact information, name, address, and phone number. <provided below>
4) Request the AG formally request these charities, do not contact you, and do not sell/trade/transmit your personal information.

Wait 1 month, if they continue to call, contact the AG?s office again, and request further assistance.

I receive calls from number 205-332-3881 about once every other day for a few weeks.  Caller-ID shows Local Call, but only Area Codes 301, 202, 410 and 703 are local to my exchange.  I do not answer the call nor do they leave a message.

Got a couple calls last week, then one today. Accidentally picked up. They asked for my wife by name. I said she wasn't home from work yet. He said "K. Thanks, bye" (rather quickly/abruptly) and hung up.

Hasn't called back thus far.

I too live in Maryland with a 301 area code.  The number 205-332-3881 started calling in mid August about twice a week.  As the weeks went on the calls became more frequent.  Today they have called three times in a four time frame.  On the forth call, I decided to answer after reading this blog and nobody was talking at the other end.

Apparently they're hitting Maryland, but my Caller ID showed up as Birmingham,AL.  They didn't even let it ring long enough for the voice mail to pick up.

Got the call from that number. Says local while I am in 410 area. They just called my name and never left any msg.  Fake calls.

Just called and said they were the Children's Cancer Research Organization.  I asked them to take me off their list and the man hung up.  The called ID says "Birmingham  AL".  I tried to call the number back and I got a message taht states that the number is disconnected.

The information I've found is this number is for the "Children's Cancer Research Organization".  This is most likely a scam, since the name is too close to the Children's Cancer Research FUND (CCRF) to be legitimate.

CCRF, however, is legit -- and a worthy cause.

We have been receiving several complaints from angry people who think our organization is making these calls. We, Children's Cancer Research Fund in Minnesota, are not affiliated with the Children's Cancer Research Coalition, the name at the other end of this number. Same complaints about "local call but Alabama area code on the caller Id complaints, but also getting some complaints about rude and harrassing callers when they do find somebody at home.

Same here for another Maryland... 301 area code here. Haven't picked up and listened yet as 205 is clearly not a MD area code together with this "local call" stuff... Began around 3 days ago (about 10 Sept 2008 or so) here; multiple call attempts each day. 205 turns out to be Alabama--we get endless number of what we think (again, unanswered here...) are spam calls from various other AL area codes, but those caller IDs all say 'Alabama' on them.

I am from Maryland, also. This is definately not a local number. They also refuse to leave a message even when the answering machine picks up. Obviously not a legitimate business, or they would be willing to leave their name. I will not answer their calls. Don't know who they are and I really don't care. They will get no money from me.

Same here....MAryland 410 resident, caller ID says LOCAL.....recieved aout 6 calls now with nothing on the other end.

The caller just said they were a "kid's fundraiser".

Strangely, the phone ID said "local call" yet area code 205 is NOT local to me in Maryland.  Just shows you how easy it is to spoof the Caller ID.

Appears to be a line for Children's Cancer Research Org.  That's what the outgoing message indicates

No ID, no message, just lots of annoying calls with hangups
