Just received a message from this number 205-588-0417 stating that her name was Vanessa Thomas and she was calling from District 7 Check Fraud Division and they have some suspicious information pertaining to my name and social security number.  Requested that I call her back by the end of today's business so she could verify this information.  Well, I don't plan on calling them back because I figured it was a scammer.  I decided to look up the number on the website and surprise!  I find that I'm not the only person these people are trying to scam.  What a shame!  Why do bill collectors feel the need to go to these lengths to get some money?

Got a call from this scammer just today. Asked them how they got my phone number - they would not tell me.  Asked them to provide supporting documentation regarding the alleged debt - they said that I would only get documentation after I paid the settlement amount.  These people must think we are fools - that we're just going to hand them our information.  And this is after I told them three separate times that this was NOT my debt. They do make it sound like you're going to jail. The caller also dared me to check them out on the internet after I told them that other companies have tried the same scam tactics.  Someone needs to stop these people.  I work hard for a living, but if I had the time I would join Randy in his crusade!  And I applaud Pam for taking the actions she took.  They did call from Alabama..I guess those southerners are so poor they'll do just about anything to make a buck...even at the expense of others....so very sad that it's gotten to this.  Go get 'em, Randy!..put them out of business for good!!!

Have been receiving a TON of these calls. I owe no one anything. The last straw came when they threatened my 95 year old father. They called again and I tore them a new one-tried talking louder over my voice so I blew a whistle in their ear. Told them I found out that they were calling out if an APARTMENT in Birmingham Alabama and they asked how I knew that. Then he said he was 'sending someone to my house to take care if me'.  Reported them to the FTC-they said its unreal how many scammers there are out there. Why can't anything be done to these kind of people?
