giving me a grant of $8,000.00.
They knew my name, where I live other info like this.

This is the second call this week.
Wanted to know my age etc.
Gave me a Grant ID # and to call the call back number immediately.

THEY are scammer extortionists working out of India.  The only thing you can do is get a call blocker.

Does anyone know how to stop them from calling? My number is in the Do not call registry but these guys apparently do not care....i get 3-5 calls a day from them and it just will not stop.

I received a phone call from the number 636-60 this is the third day in a row calling usually I just hang up but today I decided to play the game they play. The women on the phone told me I got a nontaxable grant and I don't have to pay it back for $8,000. She stated all I have to do is go to Wal-Mart and purchase a $4.95 green dot money pack card, which works like a visa card. She then told me that I need to call the number and give another person my security code that was provided to me. The number I was given to call was 206-201-2631. I called the number to see what it was about and to get some information the women who answered the phone sounded just like the first person I spoke with, she then proceeded to tell me the steps I needed to take to get my $8,000. I had to get the green dot boney card and then activate it then I had to put $300 on the card so it will allow anything over $5000. This is a scam I will be taking Legal action because they have been calling me everyday.

Tell them they are harassing you and you are going to get the police involved they will remove your number I have had an issue with them for awhile!

we get the same calls ,exept we said it was a scam they kept calling saying our address and say  they are comming to kill us ,also say sexual rude horrible stuff so finally called the police on these jerks hope they get cought.

to the point of harassment was getting calls once a week on my cell since early January, they ask for me by name, very heavy indian accent, since yesterday morning I received 13 calls most of them after the fifth call were pretty vulgar and obnoxious, usually no caller id or unknown caller yesterday a number came up as (564)564-321 not even a full number, todays number was 0000121233 all from u.s. goverment grant, there has to be some way to stop this,

Got same call as everyone else but they gave me the choice to go to walmart money gram..they gave me a code to use to claim...Then told me to call this number 202-738-4703 which I knew they would not answer just wanted to see how far they would take it. They already had my name and address where I worked... but that was as far as I went with it..they even give me an address of 200 independence ave, southwest building hhh, washington dc 20201...

Got a call from Robert bowman the number was 202-697-9564 they told me they were gonna give me a personal grant of 9,000 . For me to give them my bank info and they will direct deposit it . Lol

I keep gettung the same call and i am very familiar with telemarketing laws. When yoy tell them it is illegal for a telemarketing agency to call from a blicked number they hang up. When you tell them to place your number on their do not call list they hang up. The next call, play alomg at first, ask them where at, whats the weathwr like, etc small talk. Find out what state theyre in. Get a call back phone number, and if you can, call it while theyre still talking to you. Get all the info from the rep you can. Then kindly inform them you are reporting the to the attorney general in their state and yours, you are reporting them to the better business bureau as well as the federal trade commission (which governs telemarketung agencies) if yoy receive another call from them. And if it continues- DO JUST THAT. Repoet them to all three agencies. With enough complaints, the government sends agents from the attorney general office and they will be shut down. In any case, they will leave you alone :)

With all but essential government services shut down, I wonder if we will get any relief from these government grants scammers calling us.  I doubt they are smart enough to understand what the shutdown means, lol.

So an unknown number has been calling me for about a week now.  I finally answered and just waited the lady had my address wrong and her name was Susan wouldn't give me a last name.  She gave me some Money ID number and told me I needed to go buy a green dot card for $290 and go to Walmart or the nearest Western Union to receive a $7,500 grant once in a life time and you don't have to pay them back.  The number they gave me to call was 202 657 6938.   They said they were from the US Grant Department as well. I asked for a manager another foreign accent and she said her name was Amanda Soster.  Said they were calling from Washington, DC....   What a joke.... DON'T DO IT!!!

I got the same phone call..but he offered me 9000.. When I did not give him any info..He was getting frustrated..I then Hung up on him..

These people keep callin my phone talkin bout im am bout to recieved a 7000 government grant...she said i filled out some grants forms online which i did and thats y i am recieving this money.. she said i been selected out of 16000 people ...i told her how did i become elibibly for this grant and she told me because i paid my taxes on time i dnt have no criminal record in past 6 months and i didnt filed bankrusky... then she said i have to pay a fee of 280 to get my free grant moneh .. and i ask her y do i have to pay the 280 to receive my grant.. and she said to identify me to make sure its me but i am sending the money to their bank because its a federal bank and they need their fees to transfer the money to me . She told me go to money gram store like walmary and transfer da money to their bank and she goin to give me all da information when i get there and wait like 15 minutes to get the 7000 grant and she goin to be on the phone with me until i get my money...at first i was going to do it because i need the money bad but i thought about it and i google it and found my answer....these people are scammers!!!!! So i called her back and i start asking her alot of questions which she answered all of them and i told her i google yall and yall is scammers and she was like no we not but she said if u are skeptical of doin it then dnt do it but she said we not scammers at all...we not tryin to get u in trouble with the government and we not tryin to take ur money and she said do not have to pay the grant back.... at first they called me from 000-000-000 and they  gave me a code then i got transfer this number 202-621-0436 her name is wendy and this is her direct line...i hung up on her cuz i kno now yall not legit...callin me from washington dc...here go another number she call me from 415-994-0000 california...smh these here people do anything to take ur money...

Says that they are with the United States Federal Grants Dept. with a grant entitled to me. Says they can do direct deposit into checking account or mail money by "plastic card". *Does not state CREDIT CARD. Specifically says "plastic card" by order of Visa, MasterCard, etc... Wants to give you a number to call back. Did not say to deposit any money first. Reason for grant "paid bills on time, loyalty to businesses, do not have a criminal record, have not filed for bankruptcy"... English is terrible. Very heavy Asian accent.

Same here received a phone call from a Monica 202-666-7177# providing me with the same info and B.S. and to call an Aaron Stone @ 202-407-7177. I had received 2 phone calls previous to this one so finally I answered because they were not leaving me messages. I am glad to see that I am not the only one who has received these phone calls and surprised to see post going back to 2009. Seeing that says this scam has been going on for quite some time.
Both names completely American but when hearing them over the phone they have a very heavy accent and can hear a lot of background noise. I hope other people will read this and not fall into this scam. They seemed pretty urgent to try and get me to wire them the money they were asking to wire money to my nearest Western Union ($210). So as soon as they were asking for money I knew right away it was a scam. Sorry dude but I work for the state in a government funded job I barley make ends meet yet alone to be giving money away like I?m crapping it out.  Right before I hung up he told me to call him as soon as I can get the money wired over and that donations would be made to the Taliban (right away dead giveaway).

I got a call today from an Oscar Perez with the same bit. I was selected because I pay mt taxes, never filed for bankruptcy, and have no criminal background. He gave me the name of a legitimate U.S. grant dep. and the phone # had a D.C. area code. These guys must be getting better at the scam. Of course when they said I was to send them money via western union I knew it was B.S. I just wanted to update their scam info.

This is the SECOND time in a week I got a call such as this. Now, I know that we have a lot of diversity in the US...but the level of English language BUTCHERY on the other end of the line would NEVER stand up to domestic phone communication standards! Something THIS important (IF legit!) would not be delegated to an ESL drop-out!

I was curious and actually called- he gave me the number because I refused to give him my information.
Was told to go to my nearest Western Union, and from their phone call the same number, with the access code, and I would receive my $5,000.
Only thing is, you have to apply to a government grant in order to receive one.

The calls are coming from India and they think they have there call somehow linked into Washington DC instead of the state of Washington. They don?t know the difference between the two locations. There is not a thing we can do about it. The F.B.I. can?t do anything about it. We are all suckers.

just recieved a call from the same people. there new number is 206 734 4649. same scam, different numbers 5,000.00 for 312.00. Googled the area code found out they were in Washington state.??? Googled the whole number, it showed fraud numbers from 206 area codes and clicked on the link and low and behold
the same scam!!!!!!

If you get a call from any of these three names Chris Adams, Andy Carson, Richey Johnson, they are running a SCAM claiming to be the US Grant Department and they will give you grant money. They have a very convincing line to suck you in, I was unfortunately.

These people are running a SCAM!!! They randomly call people (from 970-123-6459) saying they are with the US Government Grant Department in Washington DC. They congratulate them for being selected to receive a grant of $6,000 for paying taxes on time. They give a reference number and tell you to call 206-201-2560 for more information. A guy calling himself Chris Adams says that to receive the $6000 you have to confirm your identity by sending $200 by Western union (but will negotiate to $100) to India, where the grant will be processed, they have you hold on the line while they confirm the transfer,  then go on to congratulate you as the recipient of this award but that you have to send another $399 to pay the taxes to be able to receive this grant money and they guarantee (verbally) that you will receive $6599 immediately upon their receipt of the fees. They threaten that the US Government will charge you a $2,000 fee for cancellation of the transfer of $6000 and that the Government will contact you directly and charge interest if the $399 is not received with-in two hours. They continue to hold you on the line while the transfer completes and then they hang up. There is no money sent back and they do not return your fee, nor do they follow-up on their guarantee. After all that I went online and found that 206-201-2560 is a land line in Seattle Washington, registered to a private individual. This is a horrible scam, they are collecting thousands of dollars, not paying taxes nor are they running a legitimate program. They need to be stopped!
