I got this same message so I'm really glad I did a reverse lookup on his phone. I knew it looked fishy. I wasn't about to text someone who wasn't local.

I just got scam by Mark Holland, supposedly from Sun Food Corp, Houston, TX.  He sent me a check to send to someone else and I am to take the portion that he and I agreed to???    Can anyone tell me if this man is real?

I received a Criagslist reply worded just like y'all did.  Anytime someone wants to OVERPAY on used items, it will make me suspiciouis.  They used the phone number: 510-578-8547 and this was their first message:

I sent a text message saying the doors were still available and glass was in tact.

Then on my phone he/she texted me (including the poor grammar/spelling):
"I am willing to pay your asking price.I will pay you with a check as its the only way I can pay you at the monent due to the fact that I am away for a family emergency.  I will make arrangement for the pick-up after payment have been received by you.  I dont mind adding an extra $20 just for you to keep it in my favor.Reply with your full name and adress where payment should be sent,Please take the posting off craigslist today and consider it sold to me."

I just received the same message from him as this, so I let him know what I thought about him and reported him to Craigslist. The email name listed is Wrights Johnson but the message is the same...

"TEXT ME ON MY NUMBER 5105788547 IF YOU STILL HAVE THIS AVAILABLE...NO EMAIL".

Just wanted to note that I have received the e-mails before, and due to the job I am in, I had his email tracked. So I immediately deterred from the initial email. However, its 2 months later and now he has sent me an e-mail again asking to purchase my item off of craigslist. Instead of email this time, he sent:

"TEXT ME ON MY NUMBER (510) 578-8547 IF YOU STILL HAVE THIS AVAILABLE...NO EMAIL."

So, he's still at it, and trying to find ways around it, lol. Hope this will help someone!

Just posted a bike last night got an email around 12AM asking if the item was still for sale. I responded yes and what was his location. He came back with this reply immediately offering to overpay:

Same story as ALL the above stories. Unfortunately I did my research after I read this. I am so frustrated and embarrassed that I was a part of this.

He worked with the name Andre Pekins and the number (510) 578-8547.  I had listed a $200 item on the Clarksville, TN craigslist.  This is the first text message I got after asking me to reserve the item in his name for an extra $20.  

"This is Andre from craigslist......I urgently have to bring something to your notice.  I just found out that my Assistant overpaid you.  The payment meant for another transaction was made out in your name and sent to you.  However I want to believe I wont have a problem with you on this.  Once you receive the payment, please proceed to the bank and cash the payment, deduct your money and send back the blaance to me via western union."

Ugh! This guy is AWFUL. I reported him to Craigslist and Google Mail...

He emailed me from the series4422@gmail.com email address and I followed through with it (stupid me), I gave him all of my shipping/contact info believing that he was truly interested in my dressage saddle for sale. When I found out it was a scam I emailed him back and said the situation seemed odd and that I was going to report him to the police... so a few days later I noticed he was online on chat, I messaged him to let him know I had reported him. He said "F*** YOU" and all this stuff, but im here to let everyone know to avoid this little b*****d.

I knew something was fishy and I'm so glad I googled this guy's email address! I posted an ad on Craigslist Los Angeles to sell a used bike and he contacted me first asking if the bike was still available. I responded that it was still for sale then he then emailed me the message below: (which I felt was fishy when 1) he offered to pay $20 more 2) mentioned he was going t London and would arrange for pick up of the bike 3) needed my address to send a M.O. or cashier's check.

Email from the scammer:

This just happened to me. What will happen because he has my info? I will NOT cash no money order. Am I in troubleeee?

BTW...I reported this scammer to Craigslist and the FTC.

+0100 time zone is Britain, Central Europe, or West Africa. I'm in the U.S.

Now I think the other one I got a week ago might have been fake too, although nothing came up when I searched that email address (another gmail address), and the email header didn't show any weird time zones. The email said:

"Are these tickets still available. I'm interested. " I replied to that one twice asking for a callback and never got a response.
