Contact wells fargo department, call 206-407-3142 was the txt I just received! No, not going to happen. More than likely a scam. I figure if wells fargo really wanted to contact me, they woukd send me a letter and I would verify its origin as well.

Text message stating: from 20630084@vtext.com (Contact wells fargo department) call: 206-407-3142... Clearly a fishing scam as I don't have a wells fargo acct.

I just received a text saying to call this number, that they were Wells Fargo Department. I don't bank there, but for people that get text alerts from their bank (I do for another bank), I can see how this would trick the individual.

They have switched it up to a text message saying "(Contact WellsFargo Department) Call 206 407 3142". I rang my local WF branch as I am actually a customer (and live in Seattle which is where the 206 area code covers) and it's not associated with them. A quick web search found others with this problem.
Some quick digging shows the number they direct you to call is a VoIP number carried by Level 3 Communications. If you receive this text or any scam telling you to call this # just give Level3 fraud a call to alert them of network abuse. The message will tell you to contact your carrier, but you just need to press 1 to reach a fraud representative. They will take your report and told me they will get this number shut down promptly and ban the user from activating new numbers on their network. You can email them, too if you like.
Level3 Fraud: 800-348-5457
Level3 Fraud: Dl-fraud@level3.com
Getting these asshats banned by carriers will greatly impact their ability to keep up the scams! While posting info on sites like this is very useful for people to know what's legit & what's fraud or telemarketers, etc., the only way to stop it is to report abuse to the appropriate carriers or law enforcement if applicable. The carriers can't possibly police every number on their networks so abuses & complaints here will sadly never be heard by those that can put a stop to them.

Scam artist trying to get money and information. Don't call them, instead report it to the FCC and your phone company.
They send the following text message, "541-350-2781/School Employees CU Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 206-407-3142 to REACTIVATE your CARD. From 5000

I got the same message and just tried calling the number a few minutes ago. It has been taken out of service by the phone company. That one got nipped in the bud.

Searching on MSN brings up a document from the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction that lists this number as the fax for the Autism Society of Washington. Looks like that fax number was abandoned or hijacked.

Clearly this is a fishing scheme. I will report this to the phone company to identify the fraud.

You will probably get a text message from an unknown ID, saying "School Employees CU alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 206-407-3142 to REACTIVATE your card."
I called, (luckily I dont have a SECU card) Just to see WTH this was about, and a female automated voice (that sounds alot like a female version of Steven Hawkins) will ask "To activate your card press 1, to change your personal identification number press 2, to hang up, press pound." You'd think that you would be able to get more options, right? Hellllooooooo!. So, PLEASE, go through the website first, and get a REAL number, before responding to this text message!
