Here's the organization making these calls.

Any hackers out there are certainly welcome to return the nuisance favor. Love to see their site brought down for an hour, or permanently!

Have received only one call from this number. I make a point of never answering a long distance call unless the number is in my contact list. My theory is, if the call is important they will leave a message. Messages are never left (I have voice mail not an answering machine) so conclude they must be telemarketing calls. I rarely get repeat calls from the same number and have not had a repeat call from this number.
I don't see any point in blocking the number as they change their numbers regularly to get around blocking. Best response is not to respond.

Just got a call from that number......206-496-0957...just silence on other end...must be a machine calling...to me that is so rude to have a machine call and tell you to please wait for an operator.....I ususlly just hang up....if I am in a good mood I pretend to be a little child and tell my ''mommy'' the man or lady is talking dirty to me...they usually hang up....they deserve what they get in my opinion for harressemet....

Someone posted the following on another number I reported. Is it true?
Beware ! ! ! They Are Not Who They Claim To Be -This Is An Attempt To Verify Who You Are.
Legitimate Companies Will Properly Identify Themselves On The Caller ID. The Only Way To Stop These Kinds Of Calls Is To Make Them Pay. Always Answer - They Have To Pay For Completed Call. Keep Them Talking As Long As Possible With Fake Info So They Have To Pay More.

Got a call from this number last week, someone suggested I google the number. No problem I don't answer calls from any number I don't know. :)

I have received calls from this number at work, but now at home as well. I checked the missed calls, and the number came across earlier.
At home, we have a brick wall, go-nowhere, get-trapped-in-the-dungeon phone system. I wish we had that at work.

Got a call from 206-496-0951. Some type of survey it said. If you IMMEDIATELY call back it says "time has expired" for the survey. You are then asked if you want to permanently removed from the call list press 1. Caller ID says Seattle, WA. A recorded voice said something about a political survey so I hung up.
Argh 2012-05-06 02:47:09 Unknown
Telemarketers disguising themselves as survey takers by asking a couple of current events questions. Then you are qualified for free cruise to the Bahamas that will you cost you assorted and sizable fees.
PorkChop 2012-05-05 20:36:35 Unknown
Caller ID comes up as "Seattle WA" but no vm left. The political calls are definitely a problem this time of year BUT I don't live in WA, I live in CA!

Placing one's number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most, but not all, unsolicited calls. The DNC Registry only applies to residential lines, not to business lines. The following are exceptions granted by existing laws and regulations: (1) calls from political organizations. (2) calls from non-profit organizations (e.g., charities, religious organizations). (3) calls from those conducting surveys. (4) calls from companies with which the called party has an existing business relationship for up to 18 months from the last purchase, payment, or delivery from it, unless person specifically asks the company not to call again. (5) calls from a company up to 31 days after submitting an application or inquiry to that company, unless the company is specifically asked not to call. (6) calls from legitimate bill collectors (either primary creditors or collection agencies). However, these calls are generally regulated by State laws, such as those limiting calls to "reasonable hours" or requests by the called party to cease such calls or following filings for bankruptcy protection. With that said, some spammers get around the DNC Regulations by starting out by saying "This is a survey!" (Liar, liar, pants on fire!)
Incidentally, PacificTel is not ... I repeat, not ... the source for these calls. PacificTel is simply the telecommunications carrier which holds (but may not be able to control) the "bad guys" telephone number. Nefarious callers can "spoof" CallerID numbers even though they do not subscribe to any services from PacificTel ... but inccocent call recipients wrongly believe that the calls emanate from PacificTel. Furthermore, PacificTel (and even the FCC) have no way of actually tracing the calls, especially if they are coming from outside th US ... unless Federal security is threatened in which case the CIA, NSA and other initialed covert bureaus would be involved.
My recommendation is that you port (transfer) your pe=recious home or cell number to one of the many VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) providers who offer awesome CallerID blocking by area code or local exchange or rate centers or specific phone number or even portions of a number ... the latter allowing blocking calls from a bunch of sources with similar numbers such as 213-534-9xxx which would block all number numbers beginning with "9" in the 213-534 rate center (area code + exchange).
Check out Voip.ms, CallCentric, VOIPo, Anveo ... awesome feature sets at very low prices ... but stay away from Vonage (way too costly with a very poor feature set) and MagicJack (way to cheap with no support, no useful CallerID blocking, blocking outgoing calls to thousands of rate centers throughout the US & Canada and the entire state of Alaska).
We cancelled all landline service in our NJ home (Verizon) and Florida home (ATT) and now use a variety of VoIP numbers from the venders mentioned above which forward to our cell phones ... with all features changeable on the fly from each VoIP provider's website.

Hey, try going to your service provider's website. I use sprint for my iphone and I can block up to 20 numbers. I'm not sure about AT&T but you can call them. Good luck.

Missed call. I called back and it said that the survey is already over. Press 1 to be removed from their calling list. Even with my caller ID blocked, it seemed to know my number. I think that this is a phishing scam and if you respond, they know that your number is valid. I have been getting a lot of these lately. How I got on the list, I don't know.

Received a call from this number on my Central Texas cell phone. Did not answer but a week or so ago I got a postcard in the mail re: free round trip airfare and free hotel. I've gotten these in the past and it is a scam. Might be connected but very disconcerting as my brother-in-law just had a stroke and he and my sister live in the the 206 area code - thought I might have missed a call from the hospital.

Same here...# on do not call list and I continue to receive calls. Just discovered my phone service offers the option of blocking unwanted calls and texts. I guess I'll have to spend the money and upgrade my "dinosaur" of a phone!
John Doe 2012-05-04 01:21:00 Unknown
got a call from these guys as well.....if they are in fact a survey group....it will not matter if you are on the DO NOT CALL list as survey groups do not have to follow the same rules as the do not call list was setup to prevent telemarketing calls.....not survey groups from calling.

I Received calls from this number,no messages, and their number is blocked.

I must be on their scam list too. They called me twice on my land line. I NEVER answer calls unless I know who they are. I HATE election time because every pollster and politican call. If I'm not there, they leave LONG messages on my machine.

This is only one of a dozen numbers that call me regularly. I can ignore the ones that have some ID, as I can recognize that they are probably scams or solicitations, but since I am job hunting I must answer most, as it could be a company calling about a job.
I have been listed on all the do not call sites (state, federal) for all my phones. I have never given my land line number to anyone, as I just got it about 5 months ago and still got 10 of these calls the first week.
Does anyone know of a way to stop them? Is anyone monitoring or enforcing the law at the Do Not Call sites? I have written my state and sent them several numbers who have called re: saving me interest on my credit card (which has a 0% anyway), but they say they cannot identify the owners of the numbers, so cannot do anything to them. What is the point of having people sign up for Do Not Call, if no one is enforcing it?

You might want to also block all calls from the 206-496 exchange. Been getting a lot of them lately, and as soon as caller ID gets the number, we auto block it. Got no idea but now have to turn the phone off at night. Caller is from Seattle Washington.
Robin 2012-05-03 18:24:25 Unknown
To Eric.... WRONG, The call has nothing to do with a credit card offer. What's in your pipe? What you be smokin'?
