SO, HOW DO THEY GET PERSONAL INFO IF ALL THEY DO IS LEAVE A TEXT.  JUST GOT ONE. CALLED BACK AND PHONE JUST RANG.  NEXT TIME I CALLED, IT WAS BUSY.

Recieved a text message that states "customer issue, california credit union service frozen.  please call at 206 529 4843."  Obtained an accurate phone number for this credit union online, and spoke to representative who confirmed that this is a "phishing" or "smishing" text.  Not from this credit union.  Recived another text on a different phone with call back number as 317 222 1112.  Appears to be identical scam.  Also related to phone number 480 717 4914.  All are fraudulent attempts to obtain personal info.  Texts recieved on sprint-nextel phones with caller/sender as 9099.

Got the 972-548-7269 message. Google is your best friend, yes?

In any case, I was definitely suspicious about this. I'm expecting to get the 206 area code message sometime soon if people are getting multiple messages.

Doesn't make sense to me. 206 is in Washington, and 972 is in Texas. What would a California Credit Union be doing out there?

I got two texts...one from the 206 area code # and one from 972-548-7269...tiz the season, I guess.

i recived this message as well. I contacted sprint and filed a fraud report. I reccomend all other sprint customers do the same.

Received same message on Sprint line today. Since I don't have a California Credit Union account figured it was a phishing attempt. What is more concerning is that it appears to be affecting Sprint customers. Apparently someone has access to their customer phone numbers.

Just got a text from 9099 saying that my account was frozen with california credit union. I do not nor have I ever had an account with them. Googled the call back number and led me to here. Anyone know why all the sprint people are getting hit?

Same sort of call. Talked with Sprint and they checked my line as I already ordered text blocking long ago.  I was told they had not blocked all codes and did so tonigth.  They assured that I would get no more such messages.  This will only help you if you want to block text service.

I too just got the text, my son also got it. We have the same account with Sprint, and before I called the # back, I googled it and was led here, so there will be no phone call.
I hope this is reported the the FBI multiple times... I know they have been trying to track phishing scams like this for quite some time now.

I received the same thing. I wonder if it is only happening to Sprint customers.  What if Sprint employees are selling our numbers? If so, I hope I get a bill discount. Lol

Figured it was a scam, promptly deleted.

Got the text from some b****oles that says the CA credit union service is frozen.Please call 206-529-4843.

Just got the same text on my phone, dont have a california credit union account

I called because I was curious. It sounds pretty fake, a computer synthesied voice.  Might call law enforcement that enforces the area in WA state where the number originates.

Just got a text a couple of minutes ago stating "customer issue, california credit union service frozen.  please call at 206 529 4843."  Since I don't have an account with them, and since it appears they couldn't be bothered to capitalize the "c" in California, I figured it was some sort of scam/junk/phishing text.

I had another junk text to my cellphone this morning, it must be the Winter Solstice bringing out the scammers today...
