I got the same call.  It said, "this is a verification from Verifast (?)" and repeated the number...

This call came in this morning and yesterday evening.  This "company" said something about the Yellow Pages too.  The company's name is VERAFAST. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST, and have been for over a month now!  DO NOT CALL ME OR I WILL REPORT YOU!!

called me twice in one day, doesnt say anything but "this is a verification" and repeats the phone number.

Keep getting calls from unknown numbers. This one has called many times. I recall having the same problem a year ago when these punks were trying to give a way the weekday paper along with my Sunday subscription. They're hurting for subscription rates and are hounding customers to give them the weekday paper free.

Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune - QUIT using customer contact information to hassle us about expanding our subscriptions. I WILL cancel my subscription!!!

I got the number on my cell. They didn't leave a message. I called it back to get a recording to enter my # on the do not call list.I personally didn't trust that either. I just google'd the number and found all this info. Thanks for everything you guys have wrote. Its funny because I just canceled my paper because of unauthorized charges to my card. Thank GOD I didn't answer and fall for the scam.

I called the number back and the recording asked if I wanted my number removed from their list.  I entered my number AND verified the number after they read it back... will take 2 days... so we'll see

I think you should just pick up once and tell them you don't want their newspapers. That's what I did today, let's see how it goes tomorrow.

I got a call from them but they left no message. the number I have is new and my old number does not give my new number so I don't see how they could be checking on a cancelled subscription since any subscription I may have cancelled doesn't have my new number on it.???

I have recieved a ton of calls from this company.  I recently cancelled my subscription the the San Jose Mercury News.  I believe they gave my number to this company to try to encourage me to re-subscibe.  It ain't gonna happen!!!!  What LOSERS!!!!

Got a phone call from this number. Called back and got a recording that offered me to be removed from their call list. Hopefully that worked, they didn't say who they were. I've been getting a lot of calls like this since I signed up for a "free 8 week subscription" with 3 newspapers, the San Jose Mercury, San Francisco Chronicle and one other. Now they have been trying to collect on me to get a credit card number.

SCAM -  They said they were from the Star Tribune and asked why we canceled paper trying to get credit card info.  We did NOT cancel paper and this is not our provider.  Star Tribune calls us directly.  This is from SEA and we don't live there.

Just says Seattle, WA on caller id.  I've rec'd calls from this number at least twice.  I don't pick it up and no message is left.

we receive several calls from this number in the past month sometimes more than one call a day.  We do not answer the phone, but this is very annoying.  How do we get them to stop calling?

Got this call tonight at 8:00 p.m. EDT. Went to voicemail, message was "This is a verification call."

According to this company's website (www.verafast.com) they employ about 600 reps (300 in Ohio call center, another 300 anywhere in the US) who make calls for various clients (newspapers, magazines, retailers, financial institutions) to do research on why you've stopped your subscription/membership, whether you will renew subscriptions/memberships/accounts, etc. Doesn't look like they are trying to sell anything. They want information so they can report it back to their clients.

Caller knew my name, city, said he's selling full time access on line to newspaper in my town in TX for $5.95/yr. I ask where he's calling from - his ans "OH". I said 206 is Seattle ac. He said his co is calling from a server which must be Seattle. I told I have no need for full time access at any cost because I can go on line now and get full access for no charge. He said he must have been misinformed. Strange, isn't it?

Got a couple of calls from 206-629-8683 and no messages left!!

Got a recorded message stating that this wa a 'verification' call. I think this is a number used to sell newspaper subscriptions and obviously does not abide by Do Not Call rules.

I don't know why this company would be calling me.  Shows as "Verafast," which is apparently some kind of direct marketing company.  I've gotten multiple calls over the last few days, and it's really annoying.  I renewed our 'Do Not Call' listing several weeks ago, and it seems like we've been getting MORE calls, not less.  What a joke.
