an email message sent to me to buy the car from me which I listed in craigslist.org ,he doesn't want to pick up the car but he sent this letter
 I n brief he want my all Id and address to send me a check , and he want from  me to deduct all shipping cost of the car after the check being cleared.

yeah, he wanted to buy a hot tub from me, same crap, same email he sent everyone else.  what a jack***.

I received this message yesterday and immediately told him to stop contacting me or I would report him to the authorities. Im not sure who the authorities are however. I would love to get more information on getting these people caught and prosecuted. Pretty easy to spot this one - He made an offer on a product he didnt mention - broken english - asked for my contact info before the deal was made - All huge RED FLAGS - Its a shame some people fall for this. Basically, they will get you to cash or deposit a very good counterfeited cashiers check or money. (it will fool the bank). Then, once the money is cleared, you send the "third party" (scammer) the rest of the cash asked for. By the time the bank sees the MO or CC returned, the scammer is long gone and you are held responsible for the monies due. I love sights like these!

Ha, ha.. I love your response.  These idiots seem to be ALL OVER the place!  It is really annoying!

I was just contacted by this scamer too.  I'm going to mess with him.  I told him to send me the check and i'll take care of sending the shipping funds when it clears.  After I get it, i'll tell him i sent him the money, which of course i have no intention of doing.  I once read an e-mail thread from someone that messed with a guy like this regarding a wester union type scam.  He had the guy going to the western union office every day and arguing with them about the money he thought was sent to him.  it was hilarious.

I also plan to report him to the FBI.  Maybe they'll catch him and throw him in jail for bank fraud, mail fraud, internet fraud and interstate commerce fraud.  Sounds like 10 years to me...

I was so thankful someone responded but I didn't send him my information...thank God! Maybe someone will catch this guy!

He sends you a (counterfeit) check.  You deposit it at your bank, and send him a separate (good) check for the "excess".  He cashes your good check and disappears.  A few days later, the bank calls you and says the cashiers check was no good.

No body ever shows up to pick up your stuff -- that might leave too much of a trail for the cops to follow.

I got the same email and I am glad I googled the number and found this site! What I do not understand is what is this guys game?  He seems to make contact with the seller, ask for contact details,  sends out a counterfiet check, what happens next?

Does he actually send the shipping company to pick up the item for sale? If he does not, then there is no loss to the seller - except the time invested in talking to this idiot. He seems like a nutcase who is doing this just for kicks. I wonder why he needs thos contact details through this route when he could get that from a telephone directory.

Can anyone make sense of what he gets out of this ?

Here in CT, the guy uses the email name of "Mark Sweet". To add insult to injury, he even signs off with "God Bless".
Must say he is constant as his originating email doesn't change much.
We have a cracker jack Attorney General (Richard Blumenthal) who is actively trying to catch these guys. Would tell anyone interested to forward your mail to him for evidence.

I received this exact, EXACT email from "Dennis Goodman". I wasn't getting a check from him in the time he told me I would receive it so I checked the number and this is what I came up with. I was selling a Ford pickup. When they don't ask questions then don't give them any information!

got the same email from craigslist traded emails witht his guy then he sent me a check for 3800 more than my car was being sold for.
found it quite funny the check was from apple inc. from one of there offices in texas and was mailed ups from some guy in virginia.
then he wanted me to send the remainder for shipping to another guy in texas.
i will be sending this check and my email trail to the fbi and see what they say

And if you should receive a bogus check etc.. definately report it to your local authrorities. Be sure to save any and all email correspondence that you had with the person in question with with full headers on. This will make it handy not to mention very useful in tracking the computer & email that this person is using to try & scam via way of using the internet. I'm looking forward to turning in the recent Conterfeit check I just received made out for 3,000.00 .... to pay for an item $120.00!
