What is your purpose in reviving "John" when he hasn't been heard from in many months?

"Hi, uh, this is John from the shipping department of Emergency Medical Alert, I was calling to uh schedule a delivery of your medical alert system, it's uh the "fallen, and I can't get up" type of system you've seen on TV. Looks like the system's been uh recommended by thousands of hospitals and medical professionals, uh, let's see, [paper shuffle says here that the system's already been paid for. Looks like you're getting the system because uh either yourself, a friend, a family member or maybe even someone you know has experienced a fall in the past so uh again it's already been paid for so there's no cost to you whatsoever. Also says here that the shipping has already been paid for so to uh schedule the delivery of your Emergency Medical Alert System press 1 uh again to uh have your system shipped out to you press 1 now...press 5 to decline the shipment of your system." [other male voice] "If you already have a medical alert system please disregard this message. Again if you already have a medical alert system please disregard this message."

Just Do Not answer phone.   That let's them know there's someone at that number.
If you don't recognize number, let machine get it or just let ring.
It's annoying but talking to them just gives them more incentive.

I stopped answering and gradually they slow down.    Now I only get 2 or so a day.   And many times none.
I did re register at the do not call list also.
Don't bother telling these loons that.....they don't care.
I repeat,   Don't answer, don't talk to them!

This really is a reply to all who have received these calls and are also OUTRAGED! These calls used to really raise my blood pressure until my calm husband helped me see the fun we could have by scamming the scammers. With a little forethought, imagination and a watchful eye, it could work for you too.
Watch out for ALL THESE NUMBERS:
8-12-13  646-231-4654        314-492-4103      417-059-4744 ***         209-676-3148
THESE ARE ALL SPOOFED NUMBERS AND ALL ILLEGAL CALLS FROM THE SAME COMPANY.
With new technology they can pretend to call from any number they want.  ***This is a fake Missouri number they have claimed. 314 is a St. Louis area code. and the MO Attorney General is trying to prosecute them, but cannot find them.

We began getting these "MEDICAL ALERT" calls back in May. We tried several tactics to get them to stop. They INCREASED in frequency AFTER we tried pushing 5 "to be removed". (Answering or pushing a number verifies that they have reached a working number. Don't do it! and DO NOT CALL BACK!)
But we may have found AN ANSWER to stopping these bogus calls, and that is to SCAM THE SCAMMER. We have done it twice this summer, and so far we have had no more calls from CARD HOLDERS (June) and from the MEDICAL ALERT people (August).
Most of these annoying calls come with different spoofed phone numbers, which makes it almost impossible for the authorities to find and prosecute them.  If you decide to DO A REVERSE SCAM as we did, be imaginative, DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY CORRECT INFO, and when they insist that they are legitimate companies, TRY TO GET THEIR REAL PHONE NUMBER, ADDRESS, ETC., AND REPORT THE CALL. https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
and the Missouri  NO CALL HOTLINE: 866-BUZZ-OFF

DETAILS: After at least 6 calls in 3 weeks from "lifeline," we finally decided to take the bait to see what they were up to, and to try to tie up their line and time for as long as we could. It worked beautifully! (What the company wants is your credit card number so they can charge you $34.95 each month for the use of this "free"' devise. I was almost sorry for the girl whose job it was to verify our info. She became increasingly frustrated because she could not get our INVALID credit card to work. She was determined and finally called her supervisor.) Joyce was NOT amused and kept telling us vehemently that it was illegal to give out erroneous information. She failed to see that that is exactly what her company had done with it's spoofed numbers and telling people that "someone must be worried about our falling because someone had paid for this valuable medical alert, and shipping too," not to mention illegally calling #s on the DO NOT CALL LIST.

Got this same call.  I just kept saying No, No, No.  It was a recording.  So I just hung up.  It just said California.  Again I am tired of these types of bothersome calls.  Something needs to be done about this.

My 91 year old mom has been getting calls almost everyday from this 209-676-3148 number and they will not leave her alone.  She already has the REAL Medical Alert for her safety that we got for her last year and now these fraudulent telemarketers are trying to mess with her.  She is having a hard time understanding that these people are not the real McCoy and now wants to get rid of her authentic Medical Alert.  I keep trying to explain to her what is happening, but with her slight dementia she is not grasping what I am trying to tell her very well.  They call her at 9:00 at night and then she can't sleep because she thinks they know she is alone and is afraid they will try to break in the house.  I am 325 miles away from her and wish I could be there for her to deal with these nasty rip off artists.  I need to know how to stop these calls.  She is already on the Do-Not-Call list but for some reason these keep coming through.  Why should she have to pay the phone company to block this number?  I have called the State Attorney for Minnesota and they can not do anything.  I registered a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and they do not do anything but get the complaint registered.  What do I do?  HELP!

Have been getting calls from this number for a couple of weeks - did pick up once and "John" wouldn't shut up.  Now don't answer when this number comes up and no message is left.  Today the number came up as a local number and when answered "John" started in again.

I am very tired of this number calling me as there are 4 to? calls per week. I finally answered one of them and they asked me for my mailing address so they could send my medical supplies to me. I think it is one of the medical alert items. I tried to talk to the person but he just kept talking. I have asked several times that they stop calling me and I threatened them with harassment and I would go to the police but they just kept talking so I hung up. There has to be a way to stop them. How about a whistle to blow when he starts talking?

They call constantly and hang up when I told them I was registered with the DoNotCall registry, and when I don't answer they let the phone ring 12-15 times before giving up... but it does not deter them from calling time and time again.  Mine was also the Atwater,
CA # 209-676-3148.  All I know to do is report them and follow up if they call again after reporting them. My final reply to all reading this... I ordered nothing, I have no use for this product and my final comment is... **SCAM**!!!!

There was a call a few minutes ago from this number. I didn't answer and there was not message left. A few days ago my Mom  received a call from someone who claimed the call was about Medical Alert and the person kept asking for directions to her home so they could deliver it. She told them she had not asked for one and they were persistent. She hung up the phone.

Have received several calls from this number.  I have reported it to the "Do Not Call" list.  Probably would receive better response if I had wrote it on a restroom wall somewhere.

I have recv'd numerous call over a long period from this number, and have never answered it until this morning. It came early and woke me up. still groggy , and without my reading glasses, i picked it up. Same recording about a fully paid for medical alert system as others have gotten. It sounded like something that my daughter (who lives in another state) might have done, so i listed to the whole recording. it asked me to press one now, to allow the shipment to proceed, dubious about it all, but i pressed "1", which instantly cut off the phone call. I am interested in what happens next. Absolutely, if you get a call from this number, do not pick it up.... it is truly a scam of some sort

I have continually received phone calls from 209-676-3148 with a 'free medical alert system" which is being given to me  by an anonymous friend, etc......I have tried talking to  the guy, who was not to be interrupted; so finally I had a fog horn which I blasted into the phone, and when the voice didn't even flinch, I knew that it was a robo call.....have filed a complaint with the donotcall.gov website.

This is a scam - The Attorney General here in NC has warned us that these people take your money and deliver nothing - They recommend that whatever you do, do not give them any information and report the call to Attorney General - I am sure there are other states out there who also have warned people
