They are still calling. They IMO are a Virus that will infect your computer. Who knows what they will do once they have access to your computer and all your records. Do not do anything but hang up.

My mom just got a call from them.  Unfortunately she is elderly, computer ignorant, and really trusting.  She did everything they told her to do including letting them access her computer remotely, and then called me afterwards to see what  she should do about the viruses they told her were on the computer. I told her to turn off the ocmputer and call her banks and cancel any online activity.
I am going to go visit her tinoght and see what they have done . Does anyone have an idea of what kind of files they are placing on computers?

They keep targeting my 90 year old friend. They are out to find the vulnerable people. That is how they operate. It has nothing to do with having half a mind.

Got the same call as above, he was so angry at me for not doing what he wanted.  I try to have fun, well fun for me, with telemarketers.  I don't even run microsoft!!!  He just kept yelling at me to just do it, just do what I tell you.  You are being stupid if you don't do what I tell you...over and over until he said fine, don't call me when your computer fails and hung up.  #209 845 7707  this time his name was Justin Paul and he barely spoke English, just as the calls above.  Beware!!!!

You are wise to be suspicious of these calls.  And they know fully well that they are scamming.

lol...good point. the guy who phoned me said they had a "report" from my computer the last 2 weeks. I don't run Microsoft Essentials and the only way he would know anything is thru Update which i doubt they use for that purpose. It may be the person who phoned me doesn't even know it's a scam? Very bad English which doesn't help pull off a successful scam and I questioned him about my IP address which he got wrong. Got him to confirm he's in California and his name was Tom Tarker. I asked him to email me the report and he said they are not allowed. Highly suspicious. I told him multiple times I don't know who you are and he kept saying Microsoft. So what anyone can say they are anyone on the phone. For all I know it was Al Queda.

Well of course I wouldn't, but I can't say the same for, say, my mother, who is relatively new to the whole computer thing.  I would imagine those are the people they are targeting.  I was curious to see what they were going to ask of me.  I didn't follow through with any of it.  My computer was off.

I just got the same stupid call. I thought it was fishy right off the back and kept telling the guy I was doing what he wanted me to on my computer. As soon as he asked me to "connect to technician" I said no. He started defending himself saying he wasn't a scammer, so I asked for his phone number to call him back to verify it. He gave me the number, and right away I knew it was a scam because of the 209 area code instead of a normal 1-800 number. It also came up as unknown name and unknown number. As he was defending himself and saying it wasn't a scam, I typed the phone number into google and this post came up. Then I called him a liar and hung up. He then tried to call back and I didn't answer. SO glad I didn't let him into my computer. The man I talked to introduced himself as Sean.

Second call we have recieved from them (wife told them off first time, call was all of a minute long). This time I got to answer and had fun and got their number:) These people are pathetically criminal and full out dumb, sadly it must be working on some folks because these individuals are still at it. Same reason for calling as other posts, trying to get you to allow access to your computer. Surprised that Pacific Bell hasnt gotten involved as it is one of their numbers, also wonder if Microsoft will have anything to say in regards to poising as their tech support people? Either way was good to get the number and check them out. Already to long of a post so won't get into the fun I had with Mac Canil (name he gave this time). Just hope the folks they have mislead didn't get badly scammed.

Why on EARTH would ANYone with half a mind - oh wait, there's the problem! - give some unknown person access to their computer??!!  Does anyone really think Microsoft monitors all computers running Windows?  Does no one have any common sense anymore??!!

Ha!  I just received a call from this number.  I went along with it just to see what they wanted me to do.  The first man asked me to press a few buttons and when I asked him if this would give him access to my computer, he quickly passed me off to a Mac Cannon, who tried explaining the same thing.  I told him that I would call Microsoft back in 10 minutes, but he insisted that he could call me back instead.  I asked why I couldn't call him and he provided me with this number.  The call originally came up as Unknown Name/Unknown Number.

I just got a call like this too. It seemed like a scam so I hung up and called Mircosoft Tech Support and they told me that they don't monitor computers and that they don't make unsolicited phone calls. IT'S A SCAM.

Just got a call from this number. They said they were from Microsoft, were calling about Windows Security Software. They get you to allow them access to your computer, after which they open a series of directories, that will end up telling you your Windows Security software has expired. They then try to convince you to pay $369 for protection software. This software(so they say), is supposedly so effective, that you never again need to use any anti-virus, anti-malware, etc program. This all sounded very hinkie to us. When we told them as much, even though my room mate was trying to log them off of his computer, they STILL tried to override him, and access his directories. He ended up having to shut his computer off to get rid of them. Maybe this company is legitimate. But I highly doubt it, as their tactics are very shady.
