Got a call with a delayed pick-up from other end. Connection broke when I said "yes" to "I'm looking for Mr. <my name>."

The girl claimed she is calling from SPI Global and she already had every information in front of her and all she wanted just a verification...
she knew the company owner's name, address and our federal tax ID #...but she did not want to answer my questions about what SPI Global is and the purpose of call.

I just got 2 calls from this number on my work phone on 8/9/10 at 5:00pm.  They did not leave a message, but based on what I'm reading above, I've received these types of calls before.  However, I realized they can verify your information by your name and information on your outgoing voicemail greeting.

Called wanting to list us in the Federal Directory

Voice-activated connection that sounded like it was an overseas call--very hard to communicate.  There was app a 10-sec delay before they said anything. Caller spoke English with a slight accent that sounded Asian.

I questioned the man (who sounded as though he was probably calling from an overseas call center) about whom he was calling on behalf of.  He said SPI Data solutions.  Judging by their website, it is just a firm that builds lists for telemarketers and direct mail firms
