Its supposed to be an attorney, Ian Thomas...I was given this number today in regards to a job opening.

I also was given this # 213-402-1896 re: Attorney Ian Thomas for a job opening.  This should be reported as I believe it to not be in good-standing.  The names connected Mr. Jian Chan also was searched and reported to be an affiliate of China National Heavy Machinery Corp. but both Mr Chan and Mr Thomas do not show as being associated via the internet.  Take Caution ~ If it sounds too good to be true. . .It usually is!

got the same emails to call a non existant attorney Ian Thomas,CHMC appears to be legit, bu the rest is fishy

who does this phone # belong to and who is Hendrik Moore, he in question was  to be Jim Chen,s attorney in LA. California...

I got email from a Jim Chen, for a part time clerk - also a number for an attorney in LA- the Phone  -it rang once- but clicked off - I'm an honest christian person.I have been corsponding with this person, who is suppose to be in china - I gave them my address, phone # but nothing else.
are you still working for them, what do you do. and is this real.

This a legitimate company and i worked for them , i have been employed for the past 4 months by mr chan and everything has been doing on well , i dont understand wht you guys are really talking about.

I recieved the exact email today 12/30/2009, this is crazy, there is no answer at the number and I can't find an attorney Named Ian Thomas in any directory, this is however a ligit business.  I sent them a message as well to find out if they employee a Jian Chan

Thank god i trusted my gut, it seemed like a scam. WTF. I cant believe i found this online. it never hurts to do some research! besides i dont want to work for some chinese overseas company. this is really immature. and did anyone notice this person cant capitalize their "i's" so its like "i will call" instead of the obvious "I will call". this blows my mind

This happen to me to, I've been talking to this man Jian Chan via e-mail for about a month now and i was just sent a check in the amount of $3600.00 from the Northern Seattle Community College signed by a Amy Peterman. I questioned the amount and I let him no that i was not comforable cashing a check for someone i don't know and he was appalled that i even questioned him. he told me just to cash it and let him know when it was done. i also had to call a Erik Swen at the same number. This man is stupid

F*** Jian Chan and the whole scam..... I totally needed this job. All of the stories above are happening to me now. He even offered to come meet with me at my home. Not.

Please, please do not cash these checks. Either turn them over to the police or shred them. Banks will hold you liable when they find out it's a fraudulent instrument, and when you sign your agreement with check-cashing companies you make yourself solely responsible to them if a check you cash with them is returned for any reason. And, in the case of fraud, both institutions can only assume you were involved. It's very difficult to prove otherwise. In the end, you will have to return the money, whether voluntarily or through court order. Please don't put yourself through it!

I am gonna cash this 3600 dollar check and keep the money if thats the case! These people have messed with a person who has the ins and outs of criminal master minds, I was one YEARS ago and been there and done this ! I am sure to avoid criminal charges I wont cssh it but these peole TRIED to do the same thing to me ! Ha!!!!!

Generally the scam works like this:
A person sends you a check, tells you to buy X, ship to him, and keep the rest or to buy X, send back the rest of the money.
You deposit the check and buy X, ship it, and send it to the person, maybe with the extra money.
The check in question then turns out to be fake/closed account and you are out the items and money shipped.

Always double check any check or money order through the bank/company the draft is made on.

I am out of the West Coast and have been corresponding with Mr. Chan and his attorney Ian Thomas. I recently received another email from Mr. Chan after having left a message with Ian Thomas'   "assistant". The email states that he will be sending a check for a thousand dollars to my address. I will let everyone know what happens from here.

I am VERY glad that i found this online before i lost the chance at taking another position at a legit job. I am not sure what the point of this is. they have not asked for ANY account info, ssn, etc. I do not understand what they stand to gain from this. I guess some people just have enough time on their hands to sit around and screw people for the heck of it.

I too received the email from Mr. Jian Chan from China National Heavy Machinery Corp to call this number to speak with his attorney Erik Swen who was going to a seminar in Sweden today.

So the company's name has changed, the attorney's name has changed and regardless of the day, the attorney was going to a seminar in Sweden that day.

The ad I answered was for Charlotte, NC.  Is he doing this everywhere?

This phone is a legit phone number , i went to LA and comfirm it, i live in LA and when i was employed i requested that i should come to there chambers and i was invited , i think they are legit but there mode of recruitment is not professional.

Ok I have it figured out. I just received what I hope will be the last email from this joker. He tells you he is going to send you $1000 and you buy what you need and deposit the rest in your savings account, making sure to save receipts. I am not sure what the specifics are but it is either a bad check (which you will give him the money for before your bank finds out it is bad) or he wants you to give him banking information for your account...either way you are the one who gets reemed with fees and possible criminal charges (if checks were stolen). At least all of us saw the red flags. Hopefully more people will read these and be saved from any hardships.

I too will send a nasty email back to this guy.  This has to be a scam and I am sick and tired of people doing this crap day in and day out.  Never even called the number, but the email was definitely a red flag with all the misspelling and mispunctuations.  Very unprofessional.
I just don't understand what they gain in doing this to people....

I received this same information about china National Heavy Machinery and the name for the attorney was Ian Thomas...I am not sure what anyone has to gain by buying equipment for me. I do know that I won't be putting anyone's money in my bank account or giving anyone my banking information

This happened to me today as well.  I was told the name of the attorney was Ian Thomas.  It's b***s*** but what do they have to gain?

I got the same emails about CHMC. When I tried to call the number for the lawyer, nothing happened.  No ring, no dial tone, no sound at all.  What is the point of all this?  I wrote Mr. Chan a pretty nasty email back.  I hope he learns his lesson someday.

I too have been in contact with this "Jian Chan" person except I was told the company's name was "China National Heavy Machinery" i personally am very skeptical of the whole situation. I plan do try to get to the bottom of it but I think it is a scam. PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

This is happening to me too. Except he told me his attorneys name was Erik swen. He offered me all of the office equipment I needed. I think this is a scam too.

I've been receiving emails from this person also. This has to be a scam because I could not get ahold of John, and supposedly he is on vacation. Did Mr. Chan offer you a computer as well?

When I called the number in response to a job offer, it did not sound like an attorney's office.  Is this a scam of some sort?  I hope not because I gave my name and a return phone number.  The person I was calling name was susposedly John and he was susposedly Jian Chan's attorney who I needed to speak to in order to get the job.
