I get these calls all the time and I never answer them. Like everyone else I don't answer calls that don't have a recognizable number. I create a new contact called BullSh** or Scammers, and because my DROID phone has a "send straight to voicemail" option thats what I do, since the Do Not Call registry doesn't seem to help anymore. I never hear it ring and since they never leave a voice mail I don't really have to know about it.

These crooks are spoofing the Caller ID information that we see and they are using a LOT of different phone numbers. The 'free cruise for a survey' is a SCAM. Do not fall for it. Report each and every scam call that you receive to www.donotcall.gov.

Received a phone call - no message - i have not given my number out to any one though?
I have no idea who this is and no answers here.

These numbers keep calling me over an over. I NEVER answer unknown calls and I even save the numbers in my contact list and label them DO NOT ANSWER or TELEMARKETER DO NOT ANSWER. That way, the number doesn't show up and I don't have to wonder why it looks familiar and if I should answer it.
Based on the stories I've read here, I'm also tempted to pick up the call and mess with these people, but that would just be a waste of time. They aren't getting my time or my money.

Thanks for posting this! I answered the call and went through the motions. Since I actually won a legitimate trip to Miami through a sweepstakes in the past, I am less inclined to just hang up like I once was. I looked up the www.2012getaway.com and it looked less than professional.
I didn't realize that they mixed up two legitimate names: Royal Carribean and Carnival Cruise Lines in order to make their "Caribbean Cruise" name seem like it rang a bell.
http://www.caribbeancl.com/ is a website they set up, but if you look at the pictures, they blur out the name of the ship that is pictured on the site... because none exists.
I quickly googled, "Caribbean Cruise 2012 Getaway Fraud?" and a great site, as well as this one came up saying not to do it. http://www.ripoffreport.com/cruise-ships/celebration-caribbea/celebration-caribbean-cruises-592d0.htm
I let her know that I couldn't buy based on the site and she sighed deeply and said, "Well on behalf of Caribbean cruise lines m'am, we thank you."
Rule of thumb is that if you are winning a free trip, not only will they not ask you to pay any fees, but they will actually give you spending money.
Don't do it!

this is from a jail - that's why when you do answer it says 'to accept this free call''.. it doesn't identify as one, but i know for a sad fact from a relative that it is.. the number is LA.. but I thought he was in NM

This shows upon my CID as CALIFORNIA. No idea who it is, and don't much care. They don't leave a message, so how important can it be?

live in okc, got a call, no message
| Mick 2012-02-01 23:56:40 Unknown |
I just got a call from them. They left a msg from a carpet cleaning company and to press 2 now if interested. I am on the DNC registry. I think we need to put through legislation that all phone numbers need to list who they are. Let's stop scammers in their tracks. I know, they will just come up with some other way to scam us.

SCAM! And it took me over 5 minutes to figure out they were trying to get money from me. The phone number came up on caller ID as Los Angeles. I got the call on 1/31 (happened to be the Florida primary) telling me I'd get a free cruise for answering survey questions. I answered three questions about Democrats, Republicans, and the President's handling of the debt crisis. Then a nice sounding man chatted live with me, said he was in Florida, said the "offer" was a one time shot and if I hung up or tried to call back, the free offer would not be available. When I started asking questions, he said he'd e-mail me confirmation, but I didn't bother since I was running errands, and not by my computer. He spent time talking about the cruise details, what was included in the free trip and what wasn't. He smoothly went into the details that I would need a passport, since we would be leaving the US and returning from the Bahamas. He said there was a one time "government port tax" of $59 per person, to return to the US and he was prepared to take my credit card number...it took me that long to figure out it was probably a SCAM.

Yesterday I reported a history of no-msg calls to my mobile from this number. Then I installed an app to my mobile and blacklisted this number. Within hours, this same number was phoning our land line, and just phoned it AGAIN. I suffer from chronic pain and sleep through it whenever possible. These people keep jarring me OUT of that sleep. I am more than annoyed.

Same as everyone else, got the call last night. I called back and pressed 2, like a dumb-dumb. Now this morning I got a text from347-688-0864 saying that I have been randomly selected for a $1000 Best Buy gift card and it give an internet address. I'm sure last nights call and this mornings text are related.

If you have call forwarding features (like on Verizon Digital Voice), than forward this jerk to 717-338-2533. That's the FCC Director's office phone. Maybe the FCC will finally do their job when they start getting the annoying calls.

A call on January 31. Caller ID showed "Los Angeles" Spider2 has a great strategy---
DON'T ANSWER IF UNRECOGNIZABLE OR "UNAVAILABLE". They can leave a message. If so,
I'll decide if their call is valid..

Received a call from this number last evening. No message left. I believe it is a telemarketer.
