These jerks called me a couple of days ago and I am still shook up over how much info they had on me!  Thanks to this website, I figured out it was a scam but they had me fooled into thinking someone had stolen my identity.  I am just curious if anyone has had their accts. or credit compromised due to these scammers.  They knew MY ENTIRE SS#!  I know they are trying to get money from people but if they were able to obtain such personal info on me, can they steal my identity and screw with my credit?  I can't believe this continues to happen to so many people and nothing has been done about it.  It is really scary!

Started receiving calls from this number.  The person on the other line claimed to Kevin Williams from a law firm.  This person had a thick Indian accent.  Everytime I was contacted by this number the person's name was Kevin.  At first I would laugh and hang up until the calls were more frequent.  The next time that they called I told "Kevin" that I was reporting him to the Attorney General's office.  "Kevin" asked me if I would like to speak to the cheif attorney.  I laughed again and told him to stay in India and to stop trying to steal money from people.  I told him not to call again.  He informed me that he would call as many times as he wanted.  I informed him he would have to talk to American law enforcement and hung up.  The number called me back only this time I was given a real name and the man began speaking to me vulgarly saying things that he was going to do to me.  I hung up and told my husband.  He called back and began talking to my husband vulgarly, however, my husband had other choice things to say to him.  I reported the calls to my cell phone provider.

This is ridiculous how many people have gone through the same thing that happened to me yesterday. I got a phone call from this guy claiming his name was James Johnson. He stated that I owed a company quickcredit.com money and the case was being downloaded to court the next day. What a crock. He said I would be responsible for $5484.37 in court costs after this went to court and they won. The only thing he could do was have me settle the debt for $633.00 and it had to be paid on my next payday. Otherwise the file would be sent to court. To make a very long story short, at the end of the phone call, with me being very upset, he stated that it was a scam, laughed and hung up. I had my boss call the number back and ask for the name of the company, however, they refused to give it. Apparently gave her the run around, and then hung up the phone. Please, please, please do not give these people any money. I reported it to the States attorney general, and they are keeping the case on file in case anyone else has complaints.

I just spoke to Mark Red - "supervisor" of Willam Scott & Associates.  Say thing as noted above - very thick accents - threatened me will jail - bank fraud - receiving funds by deceiving - theft by wire and they want $5000 plus dollars for a loan that they say I took out in 2008 and when the payday loan company went to deduct the payment that it had been returned NSF.  Well I would have been terrified if I had not gone through the same thing LAST YEAR!!!! Well all my debts are paid.  I never had an NSF.  And this is a TOTAL SCAM.  Last year I did close my bank account, I did put a freeze on my credit bureau acctounts and I did report this to the FTC and the Attorney General of my state.  So today I just asked them to provide me with the paperwork - documentation and then I would call them back and speak wit my attorney.  I was told to hold my tongue (!!!!!) that I would be served in front of my manager TOMORROW!!  I have already called and reported this again.

Same exact thing happened to me-- "Sam Phillips," speaking in a heavy Indian accent or something of the sorts, leaves me a voicemail telling me it's time sensitive I call him back and if not, good luck with my upcoming legal situation.  When I called back and asked for Sam Phillips, the person responded, "Uh, who?" and asked for the number I was calling from.  Because big a** fancy law firms don't have caller ID, right? Anyways, I even read he quoted me I owed the same exact amount as somebody else posted on here-- $5,484.87.  I asked for what, and he said I took out a payday loan for "around $300" in "2008."  He was aggressive and pissed off, and not helpful and wicked vague.  He had all my personal information, but couldn't pronounce anything right.  He didn't even know what my state abbreviation meant (hillarious).  I never actually received a payday loan, but I vaguely remember applying for them but never actually getting one.  Had my uncle, a state police officer, run my name for any warrants-- NONE.  Felt like puking all day 'cuz they said they were showing up at work and throwing my a** in jail the next day.  Reading this website finally put my mind at ease, about 10 hours later. Thank you everybody.

These guys called my mom today and threatened to have her arrested too.  She kept hanging up on them and then they would call right back.  I answered the last call and asked if I could take a message and they said,"Jan is old and is going to die".  That scared the hell out of me, so I called our local police and they came to our house.  My mom does not have any warrants out for her arrest and they said that this is a scam.  I hope they do not keep calling, but if they do we will just keep ignoring them.

Earlier today my boyfriend recieved the same type of call you have all described.  We had done online payday loans in the past but had paid them all off.  Probably six months ago we recieved the first phone call, arabic accent, from some law firm, and he stated that we owed the money and he would be arrested. He had all of his info, and said that if he paid right then, he could keep him from being arrested. We declined saying we had paid everything, the man was very aggresive, even mad, because we wanted to look into it ourselves. We thought at first maybe there was a loan that we didnt fully pay, etc. We got in contact with the company that the debt was supposedly owed to and they had no record of us, or that we had ever done any business with them.  The company apologized to us and we never heard from them again.  Well today we got another phone call from the 213-550-4451, and another arabic accent male said pretty much verbatim what the first caller had said but of course this was a different company that we owed money to, and that he would be arrested at his work at 11am the next day. My boyfriend pretty much laughed in his face which really pissed the man off and the man said he was adding more money to the debt for him laughing.  Luckily the number showed up on his cell and he gave me the number and the company name that we "owed" money to so I could do some research.  That company hadnt done any business in Oregon in more than three years and our loan was maybe a year ago. I was pissed and sick of them doing this because there are people out there like the elderly, etc., who probably do get scared and end up paying so I decided I would call them back. At first it kept going straight to a automated voicemail saying it was an extension and to leave a message, then said that you couldnt leave a message, then said there was an error and then hung up on me.  I decided I wasnt giving up and by the fourth call someone answered.  He just said "Hello", did not mention a business name like you would if you were calling a normal business and I went off.  I told him this was the 2nd time they tried this scam, that I had called the FBI (which I hadnt yet) and it was bu***hit what they were doing.  He kept trying to get my name, birthdate, any info on me that he could and I said there was no way in hell I would give him anything.  He then started to threaten me, laughed at me, said stupid Americans, and "long live Americans" really creepy.  I said are you even American because we wouldnt do this, and then hung up because I was so upset.  I then decided to call the local police and them what he said and the threats he made. The officer said he was sorry about what happened but they cant do anything because they are out of state but not to contact them. He also said that when you do an online loan, almost instantly that info is sold so thats where they get it, and if anything was said or done to us, just call and they would take action.  I was just worried because they do have our info and the threats that were given.  Since I cant do anything legally Im at least letting you and future people know not to listen or give in to them. Just hang up, there is nothing they can do, but I do agree with another poster by regularly checking your credit report to make sure there is no action on there that you did not do.  Good Luck.

On May 19, 2010 I received a telephone call from 213-550-4451 and was talking to a Stella Woods.  She asked me if the last four digits of my SSN was 1547 and I told her no.  She had a very heavy accent and I had to get her to spell out her name.  I told her she had the wrong person.  She became quite aggressive and rude and insisted that I was lying and I owed $5,487.84 for a pay day loan.  I again told her I have never dealt with any payday loan company and she had the wrong person.  She then said she is going to read to me the list of charges that will be filed in Court on Thursday and for me NOT to interrupt her.  As she was reading I constantly interrupted and told her that she had the wrong person and of course, she insisted that I was lying.  I was upset.  I told her to fax me the inforrmation that she had because this was this first I was hearing about all this and I knew she had the wrong person.  She stated that NO papers would be faxed and I would be served with a warrant to appear in Court and if I knew what was good for me I would do what she said.  I finally said to her, Bring it on, I work for an attorney and we would see who would be left standing.  She asked me for the name of my attorney and I told her it was none of her business and I would see HER in Court.  She immediatey hung up.  I have reported this to a local Detective who is investigating these fraud cases.  I am thankful for this blog to let me know that it truly is a SCAM.

I just got a call at work from the phone no. 213-550-4451 with the name David Johnson in an indian accent. He said he's calling from a law office of William "Cod??" & Associates (i'm not sure about the last name). And he told me that I will be arrested on Monday if I don't settle anything with him by today. I know I don't have any payday loans. I used to but i settled everything directly to the payday loan company, not a debt collector. I am very sure of that.

I hang-up on him twice and the 3rd time he called, I remembered to get his name, phone no. and the law office he was calling from.

How can we stop this people from doing this?

He was claiming to be Jim Santana before, but it is the same guy. Claimed to be from Quickpay payday loans and that I owed them money. Never had a payday loan nor a checking account to even get a payday loan. Threatened me with jail, court, etc. Will be contacting the authorities once again.

I got kinda scared so I googled the number and it came up as a scam! These people told me over the phone that if I payed them so much money over the phone right then that everything would be ok.. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!! They recently called me back and I told them that I had my attorney look into this and the number and I told them that my attorney said it was a scam and they popped off and said "Then why are you calling me then you F*cking B*tch!!" and then they hung up!! So that was more than enough proof for me that it was a scam!!! THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE WHO GETS A CALL FROM THESE PEOPLE!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION AND DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!

I have had several calls from this person.  Everytime he calls, he gives a different name.  It is always the same voice but never the same name twice.  This has been going on for months.  Supposedly, I was supposed to have been arrested 6 months ago.  At first, I was furious and would hang up on him.  But, he just kept calling back.  Now I just have fun with him.  He just can't believe I don't care about what he has to say or that I could be arrested.  And like a previous poster wrote, the dates were completely wrong.

OMG, I just got the SAME calls from the SAME company with same spiel!  "Stella Woods" called me from Advanced America Cash Advance, she said they would be arresting me the next day if I didn't send $3000 via Western Union by 5pm.  Her boss "Mark Redd" was even harsher.  They wouldn't give me any account numbers, or telephone numbers to the original creditor, hung up on me several times.  Indian accents but strangely plain "American" names ("Adam White").  Might as well be "Joe Bob".  Told me they sent me 24 emails and wouldn't be providing me anymore information/documentation, I would be served with court papers AND arrested tomorrow AT WORK.  And they'd tell my employer.

They hung up on me when I accused them of being a scam.
