This is what I think, it may be a way for bill collectors to find you. If you owe money to someone, then it may be this. I was injured at my job to where I can never work again, and I lost everything and cant pay any of my bills. Currently living in a back yard in a camper.

A tiny percentage of people who take part in fraud will try this. The people in this country are victims to it, doesn't matter if you are new or old. There's a good chance that they are coming from overseas. 80 percent of the calls come from overseas treating the victims in this country like crap through the phone, and nobody in their right mind would stand it.

But...why they do this? I'm new in this country and this is the treatment my people...?

I got a text that said Susan said to send this to you and when i looked up the url it was porn. Who the hell sends porn via text?

I got the text message: Mishelle said to send this to you http://bit.ly/VWEmaG.  Lol! I'm not the one to fall for scams! Alot of busy scammers in this world! It might kill you to get a honest real job!

I got that message also....didn't know who Jennifer is/was....

bit.ly is a legitimate service that encodes URL's in an abbreviated format.  Essentially it is a short nickname for  another URL (website).  I also received this text (from Jennifer) and decided to open it knowing I have pretty good security and confidence I can get myself out of any trouble.  

The bit.ly link in my message took me to a website that said my cell phone carrier had selected me to win a free iPad 3.  The actual link associated with the bit.ly URL was http://apple.com.llp1.net/?336v3.  Note how this URL tries to look like "apple.com" but is really a subnet of llp1.net.  This domain was only recently created (in Sept, 2012) which further suggests it could be fraudulent.

This looks like a phishing attack but could possibly contain some type of virus attack.  I would discard this message and absolutely avoid this site!

Recieved text from this number also with a link .It's coming from another Verizon user out of Grand Prairie ,Texas ,they also are using another number 214-984-2865 indicating you've won something from Target with a link that is a scam.

I received a text from this number say Melissa wanted me to see this message.  I did some searching on Google and found this:  Bitly (formerly Bit.ly) is a URL shortening and bookmarking service owned by Bitly , Inc., a Betaworks company. The current CEO is Peter Stern ... hope this helps some folks.

Got text message "Lisa said to send this to you http://bit.ly/U2zNz4".  I have a sister name Lisa, so I was thinking one of my cousin sent it to me until I googled the area code.  Damn these people that have nothing else better to do on a Saturday afternoon!!
