Same old BS about my computer total scam!
Natalie 2014-05-23 16:19:12 Unknown
Doesn't matter. They call my cell phone!

My caller ID said school district. Under another site it stated hackers trying to get into your computer.
The scammers may be based in India or the Middle East.
?These scammers are trying to gain access to personal computers, claiming they will load anti-virus software,? Burton said. ?In reality, the scammers want to install a virus that gives them full access to your machine.?
I wished I did answer the phone, next time I will and blow a whistle or something. Hate these kind of people

Got this call from a man with an Indian accent who said he was from the Computer Maintenance Department. Suspected a scam where callers are targeting this city to steal information from their computer while claiming to help you fix your computer.

Computer scammers. Do not give them access into your computer.
I told them I was on dial up and my computer was waiting for me to get off my phone. They kept wanting me to start my browser. I said it won't load until the modem gets the phone line. They called me each day for about a week then quit calling. I had plenty of time to play with these foreigners. They got four different people to try really had to get me past the dial up box. Again they said; "what is showing on your screen?", I said "a box and it says "waiting for line".
I had the best fun with it. I had them call me 10 times. They even asked me to ask a friend to use there cell phone so my comp can dial in. I told them; "I have no friends."

Caller called twice...I don't know anyone in that area code so I didn't answer...glad I didn't. Looks like a waste of time. Used reverse phone lookup and came from Philadelphia near the Comcast Corporate Headquarters! Scammers!

Phone rang. Checked Caller ID. Didn't recognize the number. Didn't answer. Done. No muss. No fuss. Not much time taken up with nonsense.
Didn't pick up to let the caller(s) know that it was a viable number. Didn't listen to find out what accent was used or what the purpose of the call was. Didn't care then. Don't care now.
Didn't get upset if the DNC was adhered to (I'm on it but scammers, who don't follow the DNC guidelines, will find ways to get around it) or what Obama is going to do about it.
I have a life and instead of getting bent out-of-shape, morally indignant, cursing and slamming the phone down, and making this a big deal (instead of the small irritant that I choose to make it), I move on with my life. I'm in charge of what takes up my time.
That's just what I do. Simple. More power for me and for you, if you follow my lead, right?
P.S. The DNC IS working; otherwise, calls from legitimate charities, political action
committees, annual fundraising, and other businesses that ARE following the
guidelines would be calling, also.

A foreign speaking man called and said: "This is Technical Support" "Excuse me, but there is something wrong with your computer." I politely said, NO, there's nothing wrong here and hung up.
My spouse actually went through a call similar to this. We had just purchased a new computer and he was in the process of setting it up and checking it over when the call came. Not realizing the call and caller were a "scam", he followed the caller's direction and download some PC Video and listened to the callers so call technical directions before he realized, he was being Scammed and our new PC was soon to be hijacked.
Well, he quickly disconnected out cable connection and brought our new computer into a PC Specialist who found nothing. Perhaps my husband's quick thinking helped.
I wish there was a way to block all the nuisance callers completely. All we can do is look at our Caller I.D. and avoid answering the phone. However, this caller used a "wireless caller" number and I answered it thinking it was one of the kids who change their phones and numbers periodically.
We all need to be careful these days.

i also received a call from this number, several times, as well as an 800 number. Every time it's a "Microsoft Technician" advising me my laptop was not accepting windows updates. i told him to stop calling and i would contact Microsoft directly.
Bob 2014-04-29 19:45:06 Unknown
He is still calling pretending to be a computer technician.

I received call from this number today. Area code 215 is an area of Pennsylvania north of Philadelphia. Caller ID showed "School District." I did not answer the call because of the business name and area code. I don't know anyone from there. They did not leave a message. Comments from other people concern me. Teamviewer is a very effective tool I use to help a parent or a distant friend with computer problems, but it can give you complete control over their desktop and computer. Never, never, never let someone you don't know have you install this software on your computer!

Just got this scam call as well, it says School District also. Didn't recognize the prefix so I didn't pick up.

I appreciate this website very much.
I got one of these calls earlier today. ID said a "wireless caller" from 215 area code. That is Philadelphia and since I have a number of relatives in the area, I thought it could be legit. When I answered, they called me by first name and then went into the spiel about my Windows computer sending error messages. It sounded fishy because I only have one Windows machine and I don't use it much. As I asked more questions as to who they were ("tech service") and why they were calling me (vague issue about "problems"), the caller seemed to be getting angry as I asked questions. At that point, I just told her I was terminating the call.

I have been receiving calls from this number for a year now. After I fell for the Microsoft tech scam and let them into my computer little did I realize this was a mistake. When I looked up their number I found a dozen stories about scammers. I changed all passwords, got a new Bank acct. and a new Bank, purchased Microsoft tech support we cleaned out 12 Trojan horses and 3 worms, then for safety they did a complete repartition brought it to an empty state, made new partitions, sent me an upgraded cd (I checked it online the cost was $300.00) they did not leave me unprotected and continued to call me till I was satisfied with my new computer.
NOW this 215 number calls me in Spanish! and its a recording to boot, so I just hit the answer button and then hang up.
I have gotten at least a dozen or so (maybe more) from this is what it looked like "( ) private number". So I don't answer that either. The second time M.S. scam called from a private number I just played around with the guy saying type in What?? I didn't understand u. Oh, its not working, the more he tried, the more frustrated he got. I just sat there watching T.V.saying ummm... no... it's not working ummm.. no, not that either. I must have had him on the phone for a 1/2 hr, he was soooo frustrated, then I said to him "listen u little scammer, I know your game, now u know mine. So F---k off for all the aggravation and money you freaking dot heads cost me.
Mind you, I am not prejudiced but I was frustrated beyond my limit. Both the 215 and the unknown numbers still persist till today. My thought now is, if you don't know the number, just don't answer, let the answering machine get it, if it is important, I will call them back. Sorry this is so long.

They are scammer/extortionists located in India and as of now they are bullet-proof. And they know it.
They can't be sued, so your best bet right now is a call blocker.
So far as I know there is no technology (in private hands) capable of tracing these people to a precise location.

I keep getting calls from this number and the caller id is Wireless Caller. I wait for the 2nd ring to answer but when I do, no one replies and after 2-3 seconds a computer voice says "Goodbye!". Waste of time!! They call me about 2-3 times a week but never left a message. When I'm home - they never want to talk. So what is the point of calling my number?????
L 2014-04-17 17:44:18 Unknown
Ah Yes, the windows computer problem scam, again. Same crap, new number. My caller id came up with "Wireless caller" and stupid me, as a lark answered the thing and said "Hello" just once. It was silent on the line and then a female recorded voice said "goodbye" and hung up. Now they know someone answers the phone at our number. Rats! the garbage will start up again. I'll take off the answering machine and see if they give up after a while like they did the last time this sewer gas of a scam blew through. But using "School District" as a caller id. Low, real low.
