These people charged $49.99 on our phone bill.  It's a company called Green Chamber LLC.  Mike, above, had a similar experience to ours.  They say they are just trying to verify information for an online directory; but after they have verified your information, they want you to verify a second time, this time with a recording.  My husband hesitantly verified his information, but he commented that there was a recorded message over which the rep was speaking our address information. When he asked the rep what the recording said, they refused to tell him.  It was too late by that time because they already had his verbal assent to whatever it was.  For us, it was a monthly charge of $49.99 to our phone bill.

When my husband called the company to question the charge, he was told that the marketing agency they are using must be using deceitful tactics and that the marketing agent will certainly be fired.  We WERE able to get an email confirmation from the company that the "service" has been canceled and a credit has been issued to our telephone bill.  We'll see.

I have called in a dispute to AT&T.

Another call I got from this number was a person pretending to know me, saying she misses me and hopes that I am okay, and could I call her back some time today.  This is such a deceitful operation.

Yes this is a SCAM.  It?s called cramming.  Here?s how it works.  They call you up and record the call.  During the call they?ll ask you questions that will cause you to say the word YES.  Such as ?is XXXXX your phone number?.  NEVER SAY THE WORD YES.  Say something like, that is correct, affirmative, you got it.  Go for it and have some fun, jerk these scammers around. Then they?ll claim that they are transferring you.  Very quickly they?ll say that they are recording you for quality purposes.  What is really happening is that they are now calling the phone company.  You see, you can add all types of 3rd party services to you phone bill.  This is what they?re doing.  They?re trying to get you to sign up for their service without you knowledge.  This is what they call Cramming.  If you?ve had fun and jerked them around long enough you?ll get to a point where a different voice will come on the line (commonly a automated voice) and it will ask you if XXXX is you main number and then it will ask you to press the # button.  This voice is the phone company.  Have fun at this point.  DON?T answer the question and then hit any button other then the # button.  See how many times you can do this before they finally hang up on you.  My best was three times.  This also shows them that you know the scam and they?ll stop bugging you.

Check your phone bill for any strange charges.  Commonly you?ll find this in the back.  If so you?ve been crammed.  It?s ok because the phone company knows about this scam.  Just call the phone company up and ask them about the odd charge that you found.  If it?s a cramming charge they?ll refund your money.  They?ll even refund it for a max of 12 months.  Keep in mind the scammers don?t want to make this added charge stand out so the charge will be a modest amount like $20.00.  Good luck and have fun jerking the scammers.

Additionally: as I continued to press them for more information they said they were located in Jacksonville, FL (even though the background sounded like a foreign call center).  I did a bit more research and the address they claim on the website as their corporate HQ in Florida is actually the address of a business center (I'm familiar with this very legitimate global chain that basically offers  virtual office services and short term (e.g. daily) office space for traveling executives).  This seems even more of a scam.

I have been recieving several calls per day from this number; when they finally got into touch with me, they were just "verifying" my business information for a database that allegedly we are already a part of (untrue).  I wouldn't verify until he could tell me what their company does.  The man on the phone said if I verified the information they would be giving me a toll free number to call and get more information- I continued to press him about the company name and what they do.  He said they are a "search engine" and then gave me an incorrect website address.  When I proceeded to tell him that it wasn't working and I continued to press for information; he informed me the web address is: www.green-chamber.org.

I then looked them up and found them on this site but under their toll-free number 877-812-4774.  You should look up that number on this site for more information but basically it sounds like a scam that will add a charge to your phone bill if you don't call and cancel after you've verified the information.  Do not trust companies that are not transparent about what they do and pressure you for personalized information!

Our business has received over nine calls in six hours from this company. On the seventh call. I strongly requested to have our business information removed from their calling list. They had the nerve to ask..."Why?" I explained that our company has no need to have a listing with their company : "Green Chamber" and had no need for their "Free" business listing to acquire consumers.  On the ninth call, I stopped the person mid sentence and started to explain the situation again, and making yet another request to be removed from the list. The operator then hung up on me.
So if you have has these experiences with this company "Green Chamber" This is what you can do:
1) File an official complaint with the FTC, their number is 1-877-382-4357
2) Contact Green Chamber directly. Their number is 1-877-812-4774 and demand to be placed on their do not call list.
3) or visit their website at : http://green-chamber.org/
Hope this helps......And you will not believe it, but I just got another call from them as I was typing this message

They've been calling me for a week.   Today I asked again to be removed from the list and they promptly called me four times in a row.  My strategy... answer the phone, say hello to get an "operator" on the line and then put the phone down and walk away.  If time is money, I figure they'll give up on me eventually.  These calls roll to my cell phone so I'm glad I have a generous calling plan.

I'm experiencing the same thing with this company calling at least 10 times over the past week asking to verify our information.  I finally said nothing but "Let me talk to your manager" every time she started talking.

Then she started blowing into her microphone and acting like we had a bad connection... she would blow into microphone and then say "hello... sir.... are you there"  BLOWWW...."hello... sir...."  BLOOOWWWW and then she hung up on me.

Seriously???  Who has time to do this and why are they doing it???

They have been calling my home with increasing frequency over the past week.  Today there have been 8 calls (and it's only 3 p.m.).  The first one woke everyone up at 8 a.m.  They always leave a message that is either silence, or someone who does not speak English as their first language shouting, "HELLO?  HELLO?"  I love picking up 6 messages off my voicemail like that, in a row.  You can tell by the background noise that it's an enormous call center.  Why are we held hostage to these people?  What right do they have to invade our homes like this?

I listened to most of it, including answering questions about it being accurate.  They talk over their automated response.  If I were to guess, I'd say they are a rip-off scam that will now send a bill to my phone carrier.  If so, a formal complaint about them will go into the FTC, along with a request for damages.  My phone number is on the do not call list and they should be liable for severe fines and recompense.

We receive about 6 calls a day from this number.  We have given up answering as either no one is there or they hang up.  This is great that we can post our complaints here but where can we go to place a legal complaint?

This number calls our home REPEATLY everyday.  Today I answered once...a woman who barely speaks English answered.  "I need to update information on your business"  I asked her to delete our number from their call list.  No doubt, they will call again tomorrow.

These people are impossible.  First, the accent is so bad that they can't be understood.  Second, they won't listen, just keep asking the same questions.  Requests to remove my number from their list usually results in them just hanging up.  If they ever respond to my question about what company they represent, I'm filling a complaint with the FTC.
