Have been getting the call multiple times a day.I have never subscribe to the CT,NYT or WSJ,just my local town paper. Not saying that my paper I get is not consolidated into a bigger one. Most likely it is and I will still report them to the FCC.

No one ever leaves a message but has called numerous times. If this is a solicit caller, this is a private number and those type of calls are unwanted. Need to leave a message or stop calling

At the epicenter of all your unwanted calls is The Chicago Tribune. Let me explain. Typically you have given you home phone number to the Trib, NYT, or other daily as address identification when you call to have your paper put on vacation hold or you got a wet paper. In my case, I gave that number up a 100 years ago and they have it.

The Tribune has very quietly changed their subscriber policies regarding vacation hold and privacy. They now consider your home phone "on file" as your permission to distribute it to third party marketing organizations. You have "opted IN". Go ahead, read the fine print on their special offers for home delivery. Give them your number - you agree to let them sell your phone number. There is no way to "opt out" either. OK. If I subscribed today, no way they are getting a phone number. Remember - no way is the Tribune going to check with you first on these changes.

Therefore, if you are a subscriber and have given them your number, you have legally agreed to be solicited by their telemarketers. If you grouse that you are on the DNC Registry, you "agreed" to these calls. Thanks Tribune.

To prove that they are even more sleazy, here's my experience. The Tribune's previous subscription calls came under the phone ID "Chicago Tribune". Fair. I tried multiple times to answer, say hello, wait patiently for a voice. I was always disconnected. So, I wrote a snail mail letter to the Chicago Tribune headquarters here in Chicago to A) Take my phone number off of your list and B) You have hired a phone solicitation firm that does everything, except - Solicit!

The Tribune's response to my letter is - "we'll show you!". They hired someone else, so there is only the digital phone number, and now, they call 3 times a day, instead of just once! Nice going by the defenders of our free press.

If you can't deliver a written, signed letter to the corporation that has instituted these policies (without being further taunted), what can you do?

Called me twice, left no message either time.   How many times do you have to tell them you are no longer interested in their paper, geesh!

2 calls within 10 minutes. All it says is cellular call. I answered it the first time thinking it was my Mother's friend, but no answer. This time I just let machine get it & the call disconnected.  It is bad enough to be disturbed by the phone ringing, but what I don't get is then why they disconnect. Not like I want to talk to any of them, just wondering what the point is besides annoying the heck out of people.

multiple calls from this number all weekend and this morning. clearly, it's fishy, but i don't know whether it's related to a sleazy real estate developer, or a health insurance/alteration of electronic medical records/screwy billing problem. both bank of america (one of the speculator lenders involved next door) and united healthcare (the EMR alterer is a participating physician tho not this senior citizen's direct insurer) boast about their political connections and how they are above the law, especially where real people's privacy in involved. yup, the called number's been on the ineffective do-not-call list for years. would be interesting to know which is behind this shady number.
