We were called by this number 225-435-9095 today 01-31-13. An indian man with a strong accent who claimed to be a paralegal, going by the name of kevin, who worked for "Keith and Phillips Law office", told my mother that a warrant was going to be put out for her arrest for check fraud, theft by deception, and violation of federal banking regulations if she did not make arrangement to pay back the loan amount, late fees, interest, and some other fee I couldn't understand from a payday loan that was done online through American Pay Day Cash. When I asked him for his address he would not give it to me. I then asked to speek to the attorney he worked for and he said he could not do that. I asked him to have the attorney he worked for call me back and he said that he could not do that either.I then asked him for the case number, he said there wasn't one yet. I asked him for the exact loan amount, date the online loan was made, date the money was deposited into my account, and he would not give me that information either. He said he didn't have any of that information in front of him, just what was owed now. I asked him to provide me with "American Payday Cash" phone number and websit, He also refused to give me that information. He did however tell me that the money was deposited before Dec 12, 2012. I did go over my bank information for the past 12 months and there was no deposits for any amount from American Payday Cash. Of course I knew there wouldn't be. I did this Kevin back from this Law office several times and all he would do is throw out more threats and then hang up on me. Of course I kept calling back. After several calls what sounded to be a woman answered and said I can't hear you your breaking up and then of course hung up on me again. ???? I did call 411 (information) and asked them to give me the address for the phone number 225-435-9095 and the operator told me that there was no listing for that number and she could not even find the number. I gave her the name of the Law firm "Keith and Phillips Law Office" from the area code which is 225 and she told me that there was no Keith and Phillips Law Office that she could find.(No Listing)... She said that that area code is out of Louisiana and there is NO listing anywhere under that number or Law Office by that name????????? REALLY... So I then googled the number and found all these complaints.. The operator gave me this number to call to have them investigated, 225-326-6705 (Attorney General for Louisiana). So for anyone who has had a call from these SCAM artists, Attorney General of Louisiana can help you. I am calling them first thing in the morning.

They call me from several different numbers.  They threaten that I am going to be arrested. Something about payday loans, which I've never had. One called me a bi*** and a w***e because I told them I knew they were scammers and that I contact my local sheriff every time they call. When is this going to stop?!

Hello, yesterday I received a number from these people at my place of employment. I called the number back and the number was disconected at first and then I called again and it was this weird Indian guy stating that they have a lawsuit against my social security. I did let them know that I was aware of their scam and if they continued I was going to take legal action against them, the call was silent and then they hung up on me.

My boyfriend just got the same call via MY cell phone. They will try to find you in any way that they possibly can. Called his current credit card company whom he does owe money and the information didn't match what what the crazy Keith Phillips people where saying. Something needs to be done about these scammers. Each person on this site should contact their attorney general. Hopefully enough phone calls will do some good. This is a very sad situation. Who the hell can we trust anymore? It is disappointing to read that people in government position can do very little for those who are potentially being scammed out of money if they are vulnerable enough to believe they will be put in JAIL! How scary!

This is a complete scam.  They will threaten you and anybody else that calls or speaks to them on your behalf.  I have had the utter unfortunate experience to have dealt with a group like this before.  They have stolen your contact information from another company and are using it to get money from you.  They will at frist make it seem as if they are real and legitimate, however, they are NOT.  They are extremely rude.  I would suggest calling them back and letting them know if they pursue to call you that you will take legal matters into your own hands.  That typically stops their calls.  Wish you the best of luck!

I also received a phone call from 225-435-9095 saying that I will be arrested if me or my attorney do not return their call. So I called and said I was an attorney and if they keep harassing me I will have charges files against them!!! There are other numbers out there that are doing the same thing. Do not be a victim of this scam. Disregard anything they say to you!

The best thing for people to do is to stay away from ONLINE LOANS.  Go to a local company who is reputable in your neighborhood,  meet them face to face,  then apply for a loan.    Even then,  things can happen,  but it is less likely.

kathy,  you sure as heck don't want to give them any money.  Just hang up on them or don't even answer.  Block them if you have a call blocker.   Re-Read all  of the posts in this thread and you will see that they are nothing but bottom feeding thieves trying to scam you and all else.

Don't give them a dime Mikal.   If it is an old outdated debt,  it will probably be legally uncollectable anyway.  If you pay them anything at all,  it will restart the clock on the statute of limitations and then you will be liable for the rest.  Make them validate the debt in writing via usps. NO FAXES OR EMAILS!   Ask them for their names,  company name,  physical address,  company phone number (not the 1-8**  phone number)  and information on all that pertains to the alleged ORIGINAL debt as well as their legal right to claim and collect the alleged debt in your state.  Tell them that you want full verifiable validation of the original debt with the  last balance amount as last held by the original owner,  the date of the last payment or activity on the account,  and valid proof of any signed contract that may exixt with your verifiable signature on it. These people have already violated the FDCPA laws and made illegal threats and claims.  They are a bottom feeding zombie debt buyer/collector and they are trying to scare The BeeJeeBees out of you into paying a rdiculous amount on a debt that has probably been written off and is out of Statute of limitations and therefore uncollectable in your state.   Make them validate everything in writing,  including their blood type and shirt size.
They can't do it and they know it.   If they fail to provide you with any of these things,  tell them to go to hell.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

he called me today, i laughed in his face he could not even pronounce my name correctly for starters  said that he was Alex White (with an indian or middle eastern accent, yea right) and that if I did not call him back, he could not be responsisble for what was coming next, so I called him back, mainly to mess with him cause i knew that they were fake, he told me that they would have me arrested today, yea lots of luck with that one, it is illegal in pa to do a payday loan without being licensed with the state, and that a case had been filed, and i was the prime suspect. the criminal charges against me were the following:  violation of banking regulations, check fraud and banking fraud.  and that I was under investigation. He said the payday loan was from american cash (I never have had a payday loan from them) so I laughed at him and asked him what firm they were with,  and they said keith and philips and that they were out of baton rouge la. So the next thing i did was call the ftc and filed a complaint with them and with the fcc for spoofing the number, i contacted the american cash website as well and let them know what was going on.....they even transferred me to a person on the other line who was irrate and thought i was collecting on them, i tried to explain to her they were doing the same thing to me, but she hung up and then tried calling back to get someome who answered the phone "law office". first of all, according to the fair credit act they have to have the number and the name displayed on caller id, so if indeed it was a legit office it would have been displayed as such, second of all i would have gotten court papers already if i were being sued by someone for indebtness and would not be arrested for such indebtness,

I got the same message today too! They called twice on my cell and then left 1 message. Then they called my work phone. Luckily I had already looked up the number they called from and figured out it was a scam. When I answered my work phone they asked for me I said yes, and he went on to tell me that a lawsuit had been filed against my ss #. What a joke, really against my ss #!!! I then proceeded to tell him I don't think this is true because I looked up your number and this is posted as a a scam. He was quiet for a few seconds then said oh and hung up. Oh and he said his name was Frank Lewis, also had a heavy Indian accent. And funny the number is internantional too because when I tried calling from my cell my carrier didn't allow it through because I'm not set up for internantional calling.

Just to let you know...I have called them back 40 times this morning alone.  I can't believe that in today's age, they actually call from a number that you can call back.  Dial *67 before you dial their number and it blocks yours from them seeing.  Wicked fun!!!
