Sorry, I don't think its "a great job", its harassment. It's harassment from a faceless group of people that you don't know and can't stop.

Report it! In Canada (I'm not sure where you are, or if the regulations are similar), it's not legal for telemarketers to all you beyond 9pm, on the dot! Know your rights and fight for them

If you don't answer, the call is dispositioned in call centers as "no answer", which then circulates your number back into the automatic dialling system to receive another call later. Answer, ask to be out on the companies do not call list. It can take up to 30 days to process, but if you receive a few more, a supervisor (not all companies are capable of this action BTW) can sometimes look at the call history, and if you've reviews an unreasonable amount, they can manually remove your number. This action is usually used for irate people when they're being called at an overwhelming rate or if the number is wrong. I hope this helps!

The long pause is the time it takes for the automatic dialling system to connect to the call. They hear a beep once it's connected and usually are unaware of the call up until this point. I used to work at an outbound call, on behalf of Bank of America, bank I Montreal, Hudson's bay company, sears and capital one. One unfortunate loophole to the DNC list for these companies to continually solicit is that if you currently have an existing business relationship with the company ( I.E a credit card through them ) try are able to call you to "inform you about/offer services and products that they feel may be of interest to you. From y experience though, the calls offering capital one credit cards can be stopped with DNC request, because it's usually for over the phone applications to people who do not currently hold cards through their company.

As for the pause, it sucks just as much, if not more for the person on the other line, as it does for the disgruntled recipient. You can bet I was told to do many things to myself, by very irate and vulgar people. Again, I can understand the inconvenience as, alas; I receive many of those calls too! Try to understand and empathize ( as I tell myself to sometimes..). After all, these people are trying to make a living as well :) many people are rude and say "get a real job" hmmpff, it is a real job and some offer great benefits FYI, though a lot of those workers don't always last. These jobs I find are usually filled by people working toward more rewarding careers, people new to the country trying to get a handle on a new language and secure financial stability, retirees, single parents, those with physical disabilities, ect. They are unaware you're on the other line until they hear a beep indicating your presence on the other end and their scripts appears onto the screen in sync with the call.

These telemarketer's continue to harass me the same as the Spam King did my email addresses. The Spam King was eventually arrested and charged with Federal crimes.

The Spam King then committed suicide after killing his family.

These people are obviously breaking Federal law and will eventually be serving time in Federal prison. The sooner the better!!

This number 253-236-2342 called my work number at 4:30 pm and when I answered the phone no one responded and then they hung up.

One ring hangup. If they're going to sell me something, I wish they would at least give me a chance to pick up.

Called 6 minutes to 10pm EST. I don't answer #'s. Unless they are stored in my phone. Left no msg.

Calls repeatedly, never leaves message.  Called last time at 6:30, on not only a Sunday but Father's Day!

no message. no answer or calling back. received a message to my cellphone  about $12000 somebody left me. scammers.

Phone rang a few times, I finally picked it up and had a dial tone.  I agree with Just don't answer numbers you don't know.

This number ;called, never answered it. I never answer unknown numbers I only look them up here, mostly they are offensive telemarketers. Just don't answer the phone.

Anytime you answer the phone and there is a long pause before they say hello, that means they're much too busy to actually wait a whole twenty seconds until you answer. It's always a solicitor, bill collector or an a**hole who thinks his time is more valuable than yours. I hear that pause and hang up.

I have blocked this number so it shouldn't be an issue in the future.  If it is, I will hunt them down lke the dogs they are.

This no good XXXX called at 10:00pm. It's time the Gov. stops this bullXXXX.
