Claimed to be calling on behalf of Multiple Sclerosis, described the donor categories and suggested a donation of $50. If not comfortable, could donate less. I asked him if his organization was a compensated donation collector and he said yes. I then asked what per cent of donations actually goes to the charity and he paused many seconds and said he didn't know. I told him he failed and that was the end of the call.

Medallion, a professional telemarketing firm calling "on behalf of the Special Olympics PA" soliciting for contributions. Fat chance when such a small percentage of the donation actually goes to the "charity".

The solicitor was obviously in a hurry, not pausing for most punctuation in her script, and getting very confused in a couple of places.

Thanks to my Google Voice, here is a transcript of the conversation:

"Hi, this is Nikki Westmullen and I was calling to thank you for your support on behalf of the Special Olympics PA, first and foremost I want to say thank you through your generosity last year we were able to get over 20,000 athletes out and involved in the program. It's a...it's a record they wouldn't have never set without you personally I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of it. The reason for my call today is, we're trying to get your local area athletes into the 2012 [unintelligible] events, these are the biggest events of the season, unfortunately, they don't receive the proper State or Federal funding that's why Medallion, that's, that's a professional fundraising, fundraising, reaching out to people like yourself [laughs] to make this experience possible. Your support...hello?
