They just called me too. On another site I read that it maybe one those "Car warranty expiration ... " scams ... just my opinion. I don't answer the calls I don't know
g 2011-06-06 20:44:32 Unknown

Just called me too! I did not answer the call as they called my private cell phone number! How in hell did they get it is what I'd like to know!
mj 2011-06-06 20:44:32 Unknown
Several calls from them. Cell phone as well as regular phone. Recording says my vehicle warranty is about to expire. Of course I don't have a vehicle warranty. Can't someone track them down and bust them??!!!

They just called me today. I didn't answer and they left no message. Something fishy is going on here. That's the fourth call from a random number I received on my cellphone, which is a private number. I looked up the area codes from the 4 different numbers, and they are all from different States. Texas, Virginia, Idaho, and Wisconsin. I don't even live close to any of these states.

They called me at 1:30 dont know who they are, but it has to stop
nadia 2011-06-06 20:44:32 Unknown
I think all these phone calls have something to do with cell phone numbers are being allowed now to telemarketers. No one uses landlines anymore so they had to push for the cell phones

this number called my cell phone. I tried to call back but the number has been disconnected
Ana 2011-06-06 20:44:32 Unknown
I recieved a phone call from this number on my private cel. Like others I've gotten lately, no one left a message. It appears to be some panzi warrantee business. While no name shows up on a Google search, the number is from West LA.

I just got a call at work and the only thing that showed up on my phone display for the incoming call was 1116. Naturally I answered it thinking that it was someone calling from within my workplace because we have 4 digit exts. here. It was someone calling on behalf of a law firm that said I owe them for an old payday loan. The amount he said that I owe was ridiculously exhorbitant! I told caller that I could not take call at work and I really cannot. Gave him my other # to be reached and he called it right away - of course, I could not answer call - I'm at work! Crazy!

Hi everyone, this is for anyone who is still experiencing these strange phone calls.
Education Purposes Only:
Method of attack:
What implimentation/method would take place in order to fake a phone call to obtain/extract valuable information from one?
Application/Source of attack: VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)_Application
-What application could spoof phone numbers? Well, from experience.. In my young age I was bored with a few buddies of mine and had the urge to find something to do. I did bump into an application called "Skype", its well known now - "Thanks to Oprah", but its big now because the owners finally implimented the security to manage this application to the masses "us".
Now.. Well.. Between 2005-2007, only extreme gamers or hackers would have their hands on this application. At the time the application had the ability to allow you to make phone call sessions to any area of the world. After performing a phone call to a umm lets say.. Mr. John Trufil, at (555) 258-0000, Once the person picks up the phone they will first notice caller id of (123)456-7890. Secondly, the application had a strange, but yet interesting feature; a huge conference call feature. "Going back to the story with me and my buds", so were bored and dumb, but curious on how this conference feature works, when enabling the feature you were able to not only connect you and your 10 buddies into the conference call, but you could also "In addition to your 10 buddies" lets say call two petco companies all at the once.
"Hi welcome to petco! How may I help you?" "Hi welcome to petco! How can I help you!!" Oh my god! No way! Your petco! Well your Petco too! Haha! What a odd phone call this is huh? Ya! Did you call me? No! I thought you called me! Wow? Who called us then? I don't know? Is this a joke? No!
Back to what I was talking about "before I start babbling on". Those versions of skype are exploitable and can be modified if in the hands of the wrong person. Modifiable caller id numbers, (123)456-7890 -> White Pages, close eyes, point to any number and replace the caller id with your chosen number. If the person that received the phone call tries to call the number back they would be calling the original owners of that number. Leading to misscommunication and unhappy phone users...
-What about our cell phones? Thats not listed in the white pages..
True, but you should read up in www.seclists.org, T-Mobile has had recent history with hackers. To be exact, T-Mobile has bumped into about Three comprimised events where hackers were able to extract millions of personal information including phone numbers, names, addresses yata "Just read". It is very possible that this information is black listed the d4rk forums or "Free Information Websites" - I try to simplify these terminologies ;). These d4rk forums could be viewed by anyone of evil curiousity and used to do voip spoofed calls "Fake Calls".

Also received a call from 276-940-1116 on March 27th. Lookup showed an Amanda Roberts from Clinchport, VA. I tried to call the number today which recording states the number has been disconnected or no longer in service.
