Something UPS doesn't cover is one of my rules for sniffing scammers. Whenever I see thread opinions split between "is too" and "is not" the genuine phone number used by a real company, I consider that the swindler likes to appear legitimate for his scheme to work. That disguise may include a spoofed phone number.

It so happens that I worked for the brown elves during peak seasons years ago. Parcels looking for the right home lived and died by adhesive paper notices and repeat visits, not mysterious phone calls from Customer Service. But don't take my word for it. When in doubt, go to the source .... in this case the UPS website. The same page discusses every UPS-flavored scam they could think of.

If you have an overnight package or something important coming your way, then main customer service center will take your number and give it to the local UPS station to call you to discuss re-delivery options, etc.

This indeed IS the Stafford, TX UPS location phone number. It gives a busy signal because it is only made to be dialed out, not receive calls.

I do NOT think, this is a UPS #  We have no package coming, they wanted personal info, NOT GIVEN. This is probably, 99.9% sure one of the "new"? scanmmers. They have started off again, 2x full time! I am going to get a program to block all these calls, AND see if I can still get a cord that turns off the ring. THEN all will be silent !!!! no wake up calls, in morning OR night!

This is the UPS Stafford location here in Texas, however I dealt with a RUDE, RUDE, RUDE "lady".  I called them for assistance.  Got nothing but attitude and the woman telling me what was on her screen was right and I was wrong-- even though I was stating what I had been told by someone else at that same office.  At first they tried to tell me I was calling the wrong number and where had I gotten this number from.... are you kidding me?

I got a call - called back, number busy. At the same time a UPS guy arrives at my door. He said the call was from the UPS Depot, mystery solved.

A few calls leaving no message, one finally leaving a message.  

Last night UPS left a package at my complexes front desk and the driver didn't even bother to knock on my door or leave a sticky note saying where the package was.  Emailed in a complaint last night.  Message was someone from UPS apologizing and blah blah blah.

Really hate the UPS and Fedex drivers in the Katy area.  Might start shipping all packages to work, our regular UPS guy out here is great.

I've had 2 calls from different people from this number today.  They ask for  parts of our address several times.....like they're trying to get me to say "yes"  - for no good reason.    This is the old "we have a package to deliver" scam.   (UPS has been coming to this address for over 2 years.)Someone claiming to be from FedEx  tried this scam a year or so ago.   I reported it to FedEx.  It reminds me of the phone service provider switch scam from years ago.

This is DEFINITELY A SCAM!!! I got a call at 11:55PM, didn't answer but called the UPS 1800# after reading all these post. They confirmed it is a SCAM! The stafford location is not open at 11:55pm; and if they were what kind of business calls at 11:55pm?!?

I had called UPS to schedule a pickup, they told me someone would call me from a pickup location. This number called and told me to come around 7 to the UPS Stafford TX Location. I live far away from this location, so I was trying to call back to see if I could pick it up at a location closer to my home, but got a busy signal. After calling the UPS toll-free number listed on Maps, I spoke with a representative and she informed me that they can only call out, they do not receive calls. Hope that solves the problem!

I had the same thing same number they just called, my fiance and just ordered something for me so i thought maybe he hadn't put our new address and when i asked the lady what address she had listed she did verify my old address but i found out the order my fiance placed had all the correct information on it so now im concerned about who this random place is

i had just scheduled a package pickup, wish I had known it would be UPS calling...

Someone call my number and ask was i expecting a package from avon and wanted to know where i lived, when i wouldn't tell them the hang up. This person has been calling a least 3 time a week.

Called and said they were the UPS with a package for me and needed to know where to deliver, I live in an apartment so they asked for the apartment number, I was so disoriented from some bad news I had just received that I didn't even think to question the call...I gave the apartment number then she said okay thanks we'll deliver it there. I called the number back and it just has a busy/disconnected notification

It IS UPS and they do discuss redelivery options. I was suppose to receive a package today and when I looked up my tracking ID online it said I had to give a correct address. I spoke to customer service and told them about the problem and they told me the person who sent the package thought it was suppose to be delivered to a business. I told them it was a residential address and not business. She cleared up the misunderstanding and sent the department an e-mail. I too just received a call from this number however I didn't answer the call because my ringer was off. However, this indeed IS UPS and not a scam.

We've already had one package either delivered to the wrong address or as UPS claims it was stolen from our porch.  This was two weeks ago.  We've several phones calls from UPS remediation but there's nothing they can do as my in-laws didn't insure the package.  None of the calls came from a Local Branch or Hub, these calls came from their Administrative offices, Arizona and North Carolina.  Each time they asked to verfiy the TRACKING number.  My speculation is UPS delivered the package to the wrong address.  Hasn't been the first time.
Now to this 281-261-1481 number, concerns me, but if they call again I will ask for a TRACKING Number and ask them to hold while validate the Tracking number via UPS Website.
Tis the season EVERYONE be on-guard against Conn artest and Scams.  Think about it, the best time for thief to break into your home is when you let them know your not at home!!

I got a call from this company, funny they ask for that name the my mobile is under. And I said how can I help you the gal said we are calling to verify if you got your T Mobile order back in August. I said we got one order. The first order we didnt get ups lefrt the order on the porch she said alright and hung up. 30 mins later they call my job andthe girl said her name is Jackie and she had a interview their and she needed the address. I got her over to HR she hung up waited about 10 mins and call right back and said again whats the address. Well the gal told the HR lady she just needed the address to delivery something. My thought would be a bill collector. They have my job address but just wanted to confirm it it. I beleive they work for Fort Bend County Clerk and they are trying to serve some kind of paper work.

UPS does not call you to discuss when they can deliver to you. They will either leave a slip or let  you go to the Stafford location to pick it up. Dont give anyone you dont know anymore info than you should. I find it funny how many on here seem to be defending an obvious scam.

This number is from UPS everyone.  This isthe standard number they use to call out and discuss re-delivery options/pickup options.  Just spoke with someone 10 minutes ago.

548pm  They just called me again!!  Hung up on me when I answered.  I could hear noise in the background like a call center or something close to it.

Got this call from 281-261-1481 on 6-24-09 at 537pm.  Caller said he was from UPS and asked for Phillipe pretending to have trouble with a name.  I DID NOT give my address or name.  Asked him what address he was looking for.  He didn't give an address.  Instead, spelled out the name Phillipe.  I told him I don't know anyone named Phillipe.  Funny, he questioned me about that because I said the name correctly.  Told him that when a name is spelled out I know how to pronounce it.  I live over 200 miles from this area code.  Weird.  I tried the number a few times but only got a busy signal.

i just got a call from this number, it definitely is not UPS because i do not live in the houston area.

I got the same call today to verify my address and the lady said they are UPS. I live in an apprtment and they want to verify my apartment number. I gave them my appartment number but felt a little wired after the call. After reading the above post, I am a little worried. Is there anything happened after your guys gave them your address? Just wondering what is the purpose for them to have our address

i get calls from that number at least twice a day and they never leave a message, i don't answer my phone when i see that number
