Looks like a shill for the fraud posting lies here.  It's a fraud folks - don't be duped!

I have been receiving calls from a company (ARO inc - 1-866-667-3341) stating they want to collect $673.57 for an Enbridge gas bill.
First it was someone named Jannica, then today, Dave.
They even give me a file number and TD Canada Trust bank account to put this money into!!

This is impossible as I have been a renter with all-utilities-included since Jan 2002.
I called my landlord and he gave me their account number to confirm with Enbridge.
I called Enbridge and they say the file numbers from ARO do not match any numbers they have (or have ever had), and they have no record of me owing

anything, and even the landlords account number is paid in full, and does not show our names on the account, only our unit number!

This Dave guy got all high and mighty on me, when I told him it was a scam, and that my landlord and Enbridge both confirmed it. He said he would hang up

on me if I didn't lower my voice. I told him that's what he should do and not call back!

They are calling me at 7 00 am . Bunch of idiots from Quebec.

I get calls from these pricks every... damn... day! On my cell phone, which really pisses me off. The very first call I EVER got on my phone was from them. I have at least 70+ calls from them in the past 7 months. I have zero debt (not any more), so they have no reason/right to be calling me. I've never answered, but if/when I do, they'll get railed with not so kind words.

I know I do not have debts as I just bought a car.  I live on the west coast and most of the posts here are from people who live in Ontario. I have a panasonic phone with call block, plus I have call screen with Telus.  So they can call me 50 times a day and never get through.   When will Collection Agencies and Scsmmers give up? With the technology these days and internet, it is just a matter of time before these compnies become obsolete

The first step a collection agency must take is to send you a written notice through the mail (email doesn?t count). This notice must include:

the name of the creditor (the person or business that says you owe them money)
the amount the creditor says you owe
the name of the collection agency and its authority to demand payment on behalf of the creditor.
After sending the notice, the agency must wait six days before it can contact you in person or by phone.

What if they?re wrong?

The agency cannot continue to contact you if:

you send a registered letter to the agency saying that you dispute the debt and suggest the matter be taken to court
you (or your lawyer) send a registered letter to the agency providing your lawyer?s contact information and notifying the agency  to communicate only with your lawyer
you have told them that you are not the person they are looking for, unless they take reasonable precautions to ensure you are that person.
How often can they contact you?

The agency has to observe a number of restrictions about how often their agents can contact you and how they communicate with you. For example, after their first conversation with you, the agents cannot contact you more than three times in a seven-day period without your consent, except by regular mail. ?Contact? means the agents must actually speak with you, email you or leave you a voice mail. If you don?t answer the phone and the agents don?t leave a message, it doesn?t count as a contact.

In addition, the agency cannot:

contact you on Sunday, except between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
contact you on any other day of the week between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
contact you on a statutory holiday
use threatening, profane, intimidating or coercive language, or
use undue, excessive or unreasonable pressure.
Can they ask other people about you?

In general, a collection agency can contact your employer once to obtain your employment information. Otherwise, they cannot contact your employer unless:

your employer has guaranteed the debt
the call is in respect of a court order or wage assignment given to a credit union
you have provided written authorization to contact your employer.
A collection agency cannot contact your spouse, a member of your family or household, or a relative, neighbour or acquaintance except to obtain your address and telephone number, unless:

the person contacted has guaranteed the debt
you have given permission for the person to be contacted.
In addition, a collection agency cannot:

give false or misleading information to any person
recommend to a creditor that a legal action be commenced against you without first sending you notice.
Can a collection agency charge you extra?

No. Collection agencies cannot add any charges. They are allowed to collect only what you owe your creditor. But remember, the amount you owe could continue to grow if interest charges are piling up. This depends on the terms of your contract with your creditor.

Exercise your rights

If you believe a collection agency has violated any of these practices in dealing with you:

send the agency a letter outlining why you believe they have acted inappropriately and notifying them that you expect them to comply with the law
if their behaviour persists, file a complaint with the ministry.
Solve the problem

If you are contacted by a collection agency, it?s important that you deal with them to resolve your debts as soon as possible. Otherwise, the problem won?t go away and could very well get worse. Your creditor might:

report you to the credit bureau
take you to court and get a judgement against you, allowing them to seize your goods or claim part of your pay  cheque
sell your debt to a third party. In this case, the rights available to you under the Collection Agencies Act may not apply.

Had numerous calls from this number. Always referring to a credit card I don't remember having. When asked for more information, the lady, I think Holly, I was not able to provide. She then asked to confirm my name, when I told her I would not confirm my name until I knew what the matter was about she hung up. Every time I have spoken with her she has been rude, abrasive and cannot answer any of my questions.

Call me too. Anytime of the day and never leave a message. I am just waiting for them to leave a message threatening me like they have so many people. It would be worth the 2 hour trip to markham to see how they threaten you face to face.

I think I will just block this number.. using "call manager" 5$ a month.. def worth the freedome and I wonder if anyone has already tried this.  If so their is also probably a list of outging lines with dif call ids they have.  I am guessing around 5 at the most since they still have to pay for them, has anyone taken this route and or have a list of their outgoing numbers so I can just block them.?

They called me today looking a person with the same last name as me.the Id on the phone was unknown number,but they left their number 1 866 667-3307 ext.3145-aro incorporated.they must  phone peopel with the same  last name.what can a person do with these annoying calls.

I keep getting calls from this numbers. they were looking for a person named Jay or Joy something. This has been going on every day for the past 2 weeks. I have told them the person doesn't live at my number but they refuse to listen. Now I am refusing to answer the phone when they call.

Yeah I get a prick named Paul R. This useless goofball harasses my partners cellular trying to reach ne stating it's an 'important message'. Hey, Paul, and ARO, try to understand the law of harrassment.

I keep getting calls from this number leaving a message and file # asking for a Ben somebody. I am the only person who has had this phone # in the past 5 years and I am definitely not Ben. I got calls from this # before asking for a Kevin and I told them no such person was at this # and the calls stopped for a while. I am considering contacting the BBB or someone in government to put a stop to these calls...where did they get my number from? I have no outstanding bills and I am not the person they are looking for - if they don't stop calling me I will have no recourse but to take action against them. Another # they use is 1 866 667 3305. They are ARO a collection agency.

Spoke with Enbridge.

Agency is legit. I had an outstanding payment a couple years ago when I moved but the account was not properly closed by a lawyer or me (don't remember who was responsible).

Not sure why this collection agency would not give me the account details.

Had the same thing happen. They claim they are with enbridge. I thought i had paid all my enbridge bills. Luckily I am a lawyer and will find out either way and see if there is a way to get these people. The girl's name is Mona. And her extension is 3112. She claimed her boss's name was Eric who's extension is 3019. She also gave a 1-800 number to call back which wasn't hers. Luckily I had their number in my phone as well.

She wanted me to pay Aro immediately while she waited on the phone but wouldn't tell me the enbridge account number. She was extremeley rude and condescending.

Ontario has a Collection Agencies Act which they should adhere to.

I do owe money unfortunately, and ARO is a legitimate company, HOWEVER, as soon as I was a few sentences in with the girl, I knew she didn't work for any legitimate company.  I've worked for many years in a few call centres for different companies, Bell, AT&T, etc... so I know a little of how these operate.  Scams used to happen where people would be "calling from Bell" and asking u to confirm info (similar to what this girl just did).  Because they are using the name of a real company, usually one they hope will have a connection to you, people tend to believe it.  They shouldn't ask you to confirm information.  And usually you'll get a written notice from a collection agency, not just a call.  If something sounds fishy, just hang up.  that's always your best bet.  If it's legit, they'll find another way to contact you, or prove that they are (example a letter, etc..).  To the people being harassed, test your inner scammer, and very seriously tell them these calls have been reported to the RCMP's Fraud Buster's department and that incoming calls on your line are currently being monitored and traced  (Or something to that effect.. Fraud Buster's is a legit department)

It seems someone has already lodged a complaint with the BBB against them and it has been resolved. I think that I will do the same. The BBB also says that this is not a BBB acredited business and that ARO refuses to supply information to the BBB as requested.
Sounds pretty fishy to me, they must have something to hide or are scamming people somehow!!!

I just got a call from a lady at Aro. She said she was calling on behalf of the attorney general and would not release information without knowing some information about me.  I followed along until she told me I had to pay 500 dollars for a fine in 2003.  I told her I needed more information because I dont remember having a fine in 2003 she then asked me if I was going to pay this right away and she asked me a few times but I told her I needed more information again she got a little annoyed and said she didn not have the information I needed.  If you are coming after me for 500 dollars and you are with the government you better have the paper work in front of you with what I owe and why. I am pretty sure this is a scam do not trust the Aro company.

For the past year I have been receiving telephone calls from the telephone numbers noted above.  Since I am not into the practice of answering calls from unknown numbers, I suspected it was telemarketers.  These telephone calls happened at times on a daily basis at all hours and for weeks, then a couple of times a week but persisted for well over a year. The person calling identified himself as Dominic from ARO Inc. and would leave rude and intimidating nasty messages such as "you need to call us immediately to address unresolved business",   Dominic would even quote a file number.

On one occasion I answered the telephone and Dominic said he needed to speak to Giddy Kirilow.  I explained to him I have lived at my residence for eight years and there has never been such an individual living at my residence. I then requested that he stop calling and leaving rude and demanding messages on my answering machine. He then said he would note this in his computer, but he then replied his computer froze and abruptly hung up.

On a recent occasion he spoke to my spouse who I had warned about this telemarketer, and he demanded to speak to Giddy Kirilow.  My spouse gave the same response I noted above she requested that Dominic and ARO Inc. quit calling our residence and leaving harassing messages.

It should be noted that on any of the telephone calls received from Dominic at ARO Inc., he never gave his title or position with the said company.

Lastly on September 22, 2010, Dominic called again and my wife answered the telephone and passed it to me at my request to address this obnoxious, rude, arrogant scam artist.  I asked Dominic why he was harassing me with these calls, when I have previously informed him Giddy Kirilow never lived at my residence and that my wife and I never heard of this person.  Dominic then asked for my name and I replied its really none of your business.  I then asked him for his full name and title with this company, and for his supervisor's name, because I wanted these harassing telephone call to stop.  He then responded what is all the secrecy about giving out my name, and I said I am not in the practice of giving my name out to strangers or persons unknown to me or my wife.  I then asked him what the unresolved business was in regards to his messages on my answering machine pertaining to Giddy Kirilow, and he abruptly hung up.  

Please note that in a prior conversation with my wife, he informed her that he spoke with Giddy Kirilow at my telephone number which was an out and out lie.

I hope  that this message will give some insight to anyone who receives telephone calls or messages on their answering machine from the scam artist know as Dominic from ARO Inc. out of Unionville, Ontario.  If you do get a call set this person back on the heels right away and do not be intimidated.

Also do not waste your time trying to trace either of the telephone numbers because the only thing you will discover is that the telephone numbers are from Unionville, Ontario, and that it is a landline with the subscriber being Telus.

For more information on the telephone number and ARO Inc. just put either of the telephone number in your search engine such as Yahoo or Google and hit the enter key and you will find several other complaints and interesting information which confirm you are dealing with Scam Artists who have nothing better to do than harass people for no good reason.  They will tell you false information such as being debt collectors.

They called this morning from this number saying they needed to confirm some info  before they'd tell me who they were.  Asked if I ever lived at a certain address. Then they wanted the last 3 digits of my SIN number. I told them it's none of there buisness. They had no right asking me that. They hung up on me.
That was fine by me. I used reverse look up it told me who the service provider was in Unionville Ontario.
