If you call the number you get a recording that asks you if you want to remove your number from their calling list. After you key in your phone number you have to wait a second and verify (no pun intended) it. The recording stated that my number would be removed within 3 to 5 business days. The good news is that once I called I received no more calls. Not one - after two weeks of three calls a day.

I recommend filling out a complaint.. you do not have to fill everything out. Just report the number and mention the repetition and the fact nobody is there.

Here's my log so far

Follow-up to my previous post...

Having read this website, I felt confident in answering the next time they called. The woman asked if we were receiving our paper as ordered. I said yes. She said that as a convenience, I could pay over the phone by credit card. I said I had already paid. She said thank you and ended the call politely. No calls since and that was a week ago!

This company seems to be what they say, contracted by our local newspapers. Just in case, I would advise everyone to not give their credit card #. Pay your paper directly.

I missed a call from this number, so I dialed back and it said if I wanted to be removed from their call-list , input number and it will be removed in 3 days......

I googled the number, and I found this website. I too have just subscribed to my local newspaper, weird!

Oh my! I just subscribed to my local paper as well. It's funny b/c I had a funny feeling when they called and asked me to subscribe. I feel like an idiot for giving out my credit card info now that I think about it, but had been meaning to subscribe anyway, and I was in a rush that day, so I went ahead and discarded my gut feeling and subscribed anyway. Now I'm a little worried and have been keeping a close check on my credit statements. Now I will definitely call the local paper myself and see what is going on, I have been receiving these calls as well, with the same results as others on this post. I feel like such an idiot....

I received a call just now and they did not leave a message.  It may have to do with a newspaper I subscribed to and canceled.  Very annoying.

This number kept calling me after subscribing to the StarTribune.  I finally answered a couple of nights ago and they asked if I had received my first paper and if I'd like to pay by credit card over the phone for my subscription.  I told them I don't give out my cc# and that they'd have to send me an invoice.  The next day I received a real bill from the StarTribune so I'd like to know who is trying to get my cc#!!!!

Received 5 calls in a week ending this evening, only the last of which I picked up.  Just subscribed to the Peoria Journal Star.  A lady was calling from VERASAST in Cleveland, Ohio to see if our delivery had started OK.  When I questioned her, she said that our paper had contracted with them with instructions to call us 5 times to check on our service. Darn it, she was pretty nice and forthcoming.  I was ready to unload on her.  She provided me with the local customer service number at the paper.  I'll take it up with them.

Kitty - Yup, calls have stopped for me now. But I never had trouble with busy signals or nobody being there when I picked up, so I don't know if that's exactly a solution :(

We have recieved a phone call from that number everyday in the last 3 days. Apparently getting a subscription to the newspaper is the key. We signed up for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and have been getting them ever since.

I get calls on my cell from this number at least 3 X's a day.  I called 301-327-0608, after 10:00 PM central time, and a recorded message said, "thank you for calling customer service".  If you would like your number removed from our calling list, enter the number including the area code.  Your number will be removed in 3 - 5 business days.

I'll let you know if it works.

Keep calling back until you get through.  They ask for your number then you need to press 1 to confirm your number.  Recording says your number will be removed in 3-5 days.  We'll see...

Also started getting these calls after signing up for a Houston Chronicle subscription.  After a week of them calling 4 times a day I picked up.  Nothing for a few seconds then a recording, something about "Verification ....".

I called them back a few days ago but didn't get through.  Tried again today and got a machine asking if I wanted to be removed from there call list and to enter my number.  I did, then the recording stated it would take 3 to 5 business days for me to be removed.  They better stop calling.

Same and same. Houston Chronicle new Sunday subscription. The rules of the "do not call" list are that they can call if you contacted them first and are their customer (in this case, subscriber, I guess).

Shelly, did the calls stop once you answered?

Has ANYONE gotten them to stop? How? Do they give up eventually?

Calls multiple times per day, but does not leave a message nor do they answer when I pick up.  I've called it and get nothing but busy signal.  Also, tried to block it but the call blocker would not block it (not available for this number).

We have been getting calls from this number several times a day for a couple of weeks. No message; nothing if you try to answer it.  Says "verification fr" on caller i.d.  I didn't JUST subscribe to the Houston Chronicle, but I just CHANGED my subscription. These newspapers must have some central database that they are sharing. Dingbats just called AGAIN!  Driving me crazy!

This number calls a couple of times a day, and when I pick up there is a busy signal or dial tone, and then when i tried to call it, it was a busy signal.  What does having recently subscribed to my local paper have to do with it?
