I'm wondering who is giving out our private phone numbers. I think you are right that our info is being sold, probably by a person or persons involved in the house-buying and re-financing process. Such heavy duty transactions are stressful enough--now the stress is compounded when we are hounded by these calls. I just got a similar call as the ones I described here before, now from a different phone number. It's usually just when I'm expecting an important call and I pick up because I haven't memorized the number of the the caller I'm expecting to hear from. There's this long pause and then someone deigns to pick up and start the usual pitch. And I'm sorry, but the accent is not that familiar to my ears and I have to ask the person to repeat the question when she asks one. Just too thick of an accent and the words slurred together because they are said too quickly in a monotonous mumble. Lately I have been answering the calls calmly, listening to the long spiel so I know it is the same source as the other calls, then I ask the caller to take my name off her list, and she usually mumbles something and quickly hangs up. I think she just hands my phone number over to the mumbler sitting next to her. And the whole calling routine starts all over again. Well, good luck getting rid of these annoying callers. I guess it's a way to make a living and I can't fault the actual callers. It's the company that is telling them to pitch a deal that sounds scammy to me. I wonder how many people fall for it.

Yep, finally got the same thing today.  When I answered before a couple times it would quickly disconnect.  A few times I didn't answer, there was no message.  Then, this morning, I answered and got the same Indian woman with the same scam discount pitch...I just started getting these but now based on what you are saying, I think it is connected to my just re-financing my mortgage and now my info has been sold, I'm guessing.  I always shut these people down and if I can think of it quickly enough, I tell them "remove my number form your list" -- by law they are supposed to do this.

I get a call from a person with an Indian accent "about your Washington Gas bill." This started again last week with four calls a day, ending with an evening call at about 8pm. When I ask who exactly the person is calling for, he/she hangs up. This has happened many times since I bought my house three years ago. I can barely understand what is being said, but it seems they are offering a discount on my gas bill. For some reason, they can't say who they are calling and don't know my address. I tell them I have a policy of not making transactions over the phone, so they can mail me the information which I can read at leisure. I never get anything in the mail.

I have also received a lot of these calls and also tried calling them back.  Ironically when you call back, it says the number is not in service...

I've gotten 3 phone calls from them also, 3 days in a row. Seems fishy. Heavy indian accent. Didn't give out any personal information, hung up on them. When I started telling them not to call anymore, they quickly hung up.

They have been calling for last few days. Looked number up online and it says its a landline so it looked sort of legit and since number is in same state, I picked up. Heavily accented voice tried to say something about gas company, but I couldn't understand much else. Called my gas company and told them about call. They said they hadn't called me, they said they guessed it was a "competitor." Hmmmm. Maybe. Had several calls from this number since--more than 1 each day. Will not pick up again.

They wanted to verify my customer gas a/c number in order to qualify for a discount. We don't have gas in home.

Just got a call from these guys. I don't plan on answering. I'm sure they are trying to waste my time. Don't answer.

Possible scam??  This number has been calling for days.  This afternoon I picked up and talked with "Eddie".  He said I qualify for a discount on my gas bill and asked me to give him my Washington Gas account number. This didn't seem right to me so I just hung up. Maybe it was legitimate but better safe than sorry.
