I have gotten two calls from these folks in the past two days. Any idea how to get my name off this list?

I have had calls from 540-313-8934 and 708-872-8005, both with people who had Indian accents on the other end who say there name is Jack or John and then a typical white last name. Seems scammy from the beginning. I was told I filled out a form with my cell number which I have no recollection of.

Any idea how to get them off my back?

Just got the same call I told them I was calling the cops and they stated to yell at me. I called the phone company and they said they could not get any of my info threw the phone . They kept asking if I would go to a session I said 745 but I will not be showing up . I think it's solicitation to get us to by something . It makes me very nervous they never had my name nor did they know anything personal . But still scary how they got my number not happy at all about that

I got a call this morning on my cell from this number, claiming I won 1 of 4 prices.  1) a 32" Flat Screen TV, 2) $2500 cash, 3) Cruise trip, or 4) Ford Truck. The guy had a very heavy accent. He sounded like he was from India or middle eastern. Wanted me to come to either Crystal Lake, IL. or Gurnee, IL. location to claim my prize. Told me i would have to listen to a 90 minute presentation and then I would be given a scratch card to see which prize I won. I think it's a scam. I'm not going.

He asked me if I was married I told him I was single then he said not even a girlfriend. That's when I hang up.

Just receive the call. It is the same as most people mentioned earlier. The indian guy said he is from Sony and get my info from Best Buy, Wal Mart, and K Mart. I did buy a Sony product from Wal mart last month. I try to listen what he is going to b***s***. He said I win some big prize, I know it is scam, because there is nothing that kind sweet. I hang up the phone and they try to call me couple times so far. I am afraid my info was leaking during the time I did my purchase with Wal mart. By the way, he said something like AB Promotion.

Also, did you all know that you can file a complaint with the FCC every time you get a call like this? This site is helpful for allowing people to vent about disrupting telemarketing calls and figure out who is calling, but in terms of actually having any hope of shutting the operation down, filing a complaint with the FCC is probably going to have the greatest effect. Go here to submit your own report:  http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

Caller claimed to be calling from Sony to advise me that I had won a prize and must attend a prize drawing session at 5:45 or 7:45 tonight (or tomorrow night, or Saturday night, or whenever I am available) to claim my prize. Claimed that I had entered a contest around "Eastertime" by entering my phone number on a red and white form in a shopping mall like "Walmart, Kmart, or many other shopping malls." When I said I was not available to attend a prize drawing at any of those times, he thanked me for my time and hung up.

I just received a call on my cell phone from 301-618-9984.  I did not get the caller's name, but he said he was calling from Virgin Groups.  He informed me that some time before Easter in 2011 I filled out a ballot at a K-Mark, Walmart, Best Buy or similar store providing my name and cell phone number.  He said my ballot was chosen and I am guaranteed to win 1 of 4 prizes:  1) a 32" Sony TV, 2) $3500, 3) a cruise, 4) a Ford truck (I don't recall which one) or $25,000 in cash.  He said I would have to show up at one of their Sony showrooms at a specific time where I'd receive a scratch card to determine which prize I won at no cost to me.  He said the showrooms were in Alexandria, VA and Sterling, VA.  The address he gave me for Alexandria is 4641 Kenmore Ave, Alexandria, VA 22304.  Said they were in the Courtyard Marriott.  I told him I was skeptical of this and he transferred me to his manager, Jimmy.

Jimmy essentially told me the same thing except the company name changes slightly and the prize list changed slightly.  Jimmy said they were Virgin Promotions and the prizes were a 32" Toshiba TV, $2500, a cruise, or the Ford truck/$25,000.  Jimmy tried to get me to commit to a date and time to come to one of their showrooms and gave me a different number to call him back on - 703-688-4656.

I doubt that I filled out a ballot.  In the event that I did, I doubt that I provided my cell phone #.

I got a call earlier.  He said he was from Premier Marketing.  As soon as he said "marketing," I knew I didn't want any part of it.  All I said was, "Sorry, I am not interested.  Please put me on your do-not-call list."

Then, after I hung up, I took the battery out of my phone for a few minutes just in case they got my number from a scanner of some sort.

Now that I've googled it, I'm glad I didn't waste time with it.

got a call from some guy who said I won a survey contest. Didn't know who I was or where I lived or anything like that. I didn't go any further until I reverse looked up the phone number and then googled the number to find that it was a scam.

Got a call from this Indian guy and mine was a little different.  He said that I had "made some shopping" at one of the 300 stores that "they" are affiliated with, he mentioned K-mart, Walmart.  He said I used my cell phone number to fill out the form, not sure why they wouldn't ask me for my name on the form, that would be crazy.  Anyway, it was obviously a scam so please be careful with your information!

Got a call from this guy stated I registered for a Sony contest over the last year by giving my phone number. They never stated my name, But first said has anyone from Sony contacted you already. They told be I won and can pick from 4 prizes. 32" Sony TV, $2500 cash, a Vacation, or a new truck. They assured me it would cost nothing, but stated they needed to verify if I was able to claim the prizes. for the Vacation they wanted to know if I was married, for the truck if I made over $50K. They then transfered the call to a "manager," who would give me a code to verify my prize. The Manager told me I needed to go to either one of two places that day to claim the prize at 530 or 730PM. (Address: 564 Warrenton Rd, Fredricksburg, VA 22405  or 901 31st NW st. Washington DC 20007).

I told them I would call them back, they then called me 5 times yesterday and twice today.

I called Sony and they did not know of this contest!!!

These guys are fishing for info, don't given them any info.

I just got a call from him as well saying that I'd won one of four prizes.. The reason for the poor call quality is because he's calling from a Magic Jack. I told him that if he was really calling from Sony, he'd have a real phone. He said that the Magic Phone was his company's technology. I laughed.  If Sony, the flagship for modern electronics is using a Magic Jack, we're in big trouble. It's some sort of scam. Avoid it.

Same tool from 301-618-9984 just called me. The usual bs about winning  either a Ford SUV or a 32" TV from some promotion last Christmas where I had given out my cell phone number. Of course he was wrong on both counts since I never enter contests or give out my cell phone number. From listening to his ridiculous delivery for a bit, it is obvious that he is trying to get the caller to give affirmative responses to anything he says...probably so they can splice a recording together claiming that you agreed to  whatever they are trying to sell. A pathetic scam...will try calling that number from a line at work tomorrow.

I got a call today from this number and it was an Indian rep who said his name was Ray Smith.  You tool, you can't fool me!  I'd type the rest of my experience but the posts below are 100% exactly what I went through.  DO NOT fall for this scam.

Cheers

Received the same call.  Said it was from Sony, and I had won a cruise, ford, 32" tv, or $2500.  Once I told them I had no spouse or girlfriend, oops - all of a sudden I wasn't qualified.  no doubt a scam.  beware.

Same middle eastern/indian guy just called me claiming to be from Sony Electronics, saying I'd won a drawing for one of four fabulous prizes.  Sorry, no way they'd use such a poorly trained fool calling from a Maryland number.  Avoid this scam!

I had a call tonight from them. Said I entered a drawing around Christmas time and we were "winners" as the previous poster said, really bad connection. I listened to their nonsense for a bit. I figured it was a scam when they said I had a chance to win an escalade truck valued at over 25K... I feel like it would be a bit more than that. I was transfered to the "manager" and given a confirmation code that they had me repeat back to them. Also they heard my daughter in the background and told me not to bring my kids to the place. I had to read them back the address several times. I got frustrated and hung up. They proceeded to call me back about 5 times in 5 mins. I had my husband call them back from his phone and they seemed to remember the situation and gave him the same bit. Then like 3 hrs later a 703 number calls me with the same thing. So I "confirmed" I was going to this thing. They insisted on us bringing two forms of I'd a picture and non picture. I googled the address and people were explaining the same scam about 3-4 years ago but the company was called sunshine promotions. Looks ike they are back at it with a new name called "virgin marketing" I think. Beware!!

Got a call from this phone number, 301-618-9984.  It was some kind of scam, saying that I had won a Ford SUV or a 32" TV.  Guy calling had an accent (middle eastern or indian, unsure) and wanted to confirm my age (between 24 and 69 or similar) and income, and if I had a spouse.  the connection was so poor that it ended before we got too far, but I've chalked this up to a scam artist calling.
