I also got an email as respons on an laptop i put for sale on Marktplaats in the Netherlands.
I gave my name and email but no phone nr. If I would have given my phone nr that would be enough to
use my identity?
Also found it fishy and stopped when they wanted my account nr and adress.
Good that sites like this collect these criminal activity

I was also sent an email by Tonny Adams about ten minutes after posting a CL ad. Said she was too busy to look at it, but definitely wanted it and would send me a certified check (for even $30 more than asking price) once I sent her my name, address, phone number, etc. It sounded a little fishy, so I googled her name and luckily came across this website. Thanks for the heads up!!!

I too received the emails from Tonny Adams.  I suspected that this was a scam but knowing there isn't a whole someone can do with your name and address i gave him the info to see if i would get a check.  The check was UPS overnighted from somewhere in texas.  The check was NOT a certified bank check but rather a business check from a company called Atlantic Equipment Company in Virginia.  The check looks very real and I suspect it is a real check.  The problem with this check, issued via Wachovia bank is that the account number for the check is only 12 digits long and all Wachovia business accounts have 13 digits.  Since I do all of my business banking with Wachovia it did not take my banker long to figure out this was indeed a bad check that would have bounced.  I asked him if I should report anything to the police, and he told me that their bank has a large "loss" department that will track these things down with much more diligence than the police would.  I'm turning the emails, texts, and check over to them.  I hope someone can catch these losers!

Sure enough, e-mail number two was sent this morning from ANOTHER e-mail address for Tonny.

I got an e-mail to a ad I posted on Craig's List as well from tonnyadams14@gmail.com. I'm sure this isn't a coincidence.

I got the same exact email only Tonny's "father" in FL will be responsible for the payment instead of his uncle in OH... and he was going to offer me an extra $50 not $15 to "hold" the item for him. Thanks to all who have posted about him and saved people like me from being ripped off!!

HEY, I HAD THE SAME MSG. TONNY JUMPED ON MY AD ON CRAIGS LIST ALMOST IMMEDIATELY.  DID NOT GIVE HIM ANY INFO....TOLD HIM CASH ONLY.  I THOUGHT CRAIGS WAS TRUSTWORTHY, GUESS NOT.

I was also contacted by a Tonny Adams wanting to know if the item was still for sale. ( I had just that minute listed the item) and it was jumped on. I also had an email from  Shonda Bernard. also a scam
I don't trust Craigslist AT ALL. And will NOT list anything else with them. i also sent an complaint email to Craigslist and they didn't even respond to it, makes me wonder if they are "in on it"

They also contacted me with this phone number plus the 302-231-1647 number.      I thought it was a scam so here I am reading all the other e-mails.   Also, someone named wendy cerces (?) contacted me about buying an item for more than full price.  I'm sure that is also a scam, so beware.

people, if you are selling on craigslist; do not accept checks. do not ship items. better to be safe than sorry.

tonnyad answered my ad on craigslist.  I received a phoney certified check, but I called the bank it was issued on since it was more than ten times the amount asked for.  I am on my way to the local police station to file a complaint.  I am taking all the information I can get and see what I can do.

I was sent an email from a Craigslist responder to an ad,  and responder gave herself the name Jane Roberts with a gmail email address (untrackable).  She wanted me to emaail her and then gave this address for me to also call her.  That way, they have a lot of info on you--phone number, name, email account, address.  From there, they can do more.  BEWARE
