This scam call from (302) 956-9143 also offered $9200. They have called me several times over a five day period. They have what sounds to be Indian accents and claimed to be federal employees working for the Health and Human Services Department in Washington DC.
I did not want to continue to how they wanted to cheat me out of money but only to get some identifying info. out of them.
I called the closest FBI office. The agent I spoke to was familiar with that phone number. There are many similar scams using similar techniques out there.
They are not stupid and are persistent.
The agent suggested the scammers might have gotten my info. (name, address, phone #, etc.)from Facebook.
The agent thought the scammers might be using throw-away cell phones that work thru a domestic trunk. The FBI is trying to figure out a way to catch and prosecute any people in the US working these and other similar scams.
The agent was grateful for my reporting.
1). Report any information to your closest FBI office.
2). Get your information off of any social networking site.
3). Do not answer calls from any area codes you do not recognize...disregard them.

I was about to... sounds too good to be true, so good thing I checked before anything.

If they want you to get a greenbelt card it is a scam. I have heard of many scams using that card as it is untraceable. They take your 300 off the card and never talk to you again.

It is a scam. You should never have to pay upfront for a loan.

They told me that I needed to go to Walmart and buy a card that they could load the money onto and it would only cost me $300. They called it a green belt money pack. I looked it up and this is a legitimate company, but are they in on the scam? WTF is really going on? I am not going to spend money to get free money. Did anyone do this and is it real?

they said they work for the US government is the Chinese or Asian heavy accent give me an access code and phone number told me to call I wrote it down I called and I stayed quiet and they hung up right away then I called back again and said quiet and they hung up the third time I called back they wouldn't answer the 4th time I called back it just rang and rang until it said nobody is available

A couple people had called me with really bad English and said I was awarded a $9200 government grant because I paid my bills on time and don't have a record. Is this legit? I sounds like a scam to me. Why not just mail out the money?

This guy spoke with such bad English it was to understand. I got out of the conversation that I was to receive a grant fo $9200. I was one of the select few. I needed to call 302-856-9143 and give them my Grant Approval Code.     NOT!

I received a call from (302)956-9143 telling me I will receive $9,200 because I have no record, pay my bills on time and etc. When I called they informed me that they close at 4 pm and I need to call back on Mon. |Just wondering if anyone actually received a check or any funds?

I got the same call and he gave me the address of the US Gov. Grant Dept. He told me I needed to call immediately. I said, I have to call someone else first because this sounds like a scam.

I was told to call this number to receive free grant money because I pay my bills on time. What type of foolery is this?
