I have no idea why this company (Santander) has been calling me almost 3x a day, every day, for the past month. In fact, I called them back, and got a computer telling me to input my account number or SSN, which I put my SSN b/c I DO NOT have an account with them. They even verified my SSN isn't in their system, thus, I have no account with them. SO I really don't know what they want from me. The best I can do is "block" the billion numbers they call from.

If a creditor is calling your phone, and you are not the person they are looking for, then you should take steps to perfect your rights under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).  You should get an address for the creditor from their web site and send them a certified mail letter.  In that letter, identify your phone number, let them know that they telling them that the party they are trying to reach is not available at that number, and demand that they stop calling.   Be sure to keep a copy of the signed letter together with the return receipt.  I have posted sample letters on my web site?s law library.  http://www.sue4abuse.com/library.html.

After you have done that, you may be able to pursue them for violations of the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act).  This is the same statute that is used to sue junk fax companies.  The statutory damage award is $500 for each call and $1,500 per call if they have violated the statute wilfully.

Your state's collection practices act may have additional prohibitions and remedies which are applicable to your situation.

Once you have written your cease communication letter, and if the calls continue, your best option may be to have an attorney help get their attention or pursue claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

You can sue them for a min. of a 1,000.00 for calling before 8 and after 9 at night. This money would help pay off your car.Your lawyer can sue for his fee also. Go for it. They are calling me just because I live next door to the guy that owes them money.They do that to get me to say something to him. This cannot be a legit company, I don't have any debts, or notes on anything I have. They should have no reason to be calling me. Don't get suckered by these scam artists!

This company sucks biggggggg time! I don't even have an account with them. They call me from 8 different numbers daily. I spoke to several non english speaking reps and they don't know crap. How are you going to call me to make a payment on a car I don't own? I told them off last time and the calls stop now they call from a 303 658 9000 and please lord help me with santander consumer usa. A***oles!!!

I dont even have a car loan and these SOB's called, asking for someone, I said I aint them who are you started accusing me of being that person, so I said who are you and I will take a message. I will leave a message if you are such and such, I said then dont call me, yelling back and forth until I hung up on them! Who are they to call me? I do not owe them money. The only loan that I have is for my home, and I know it is not them!

This is SANDTANDER CONSUMER USA...They have about 50 different numbers. I always save as "dont answer" that way I know when its them calling. They will harass me over 6 days late. They barely speak English. Dont EVER make the mistake of calling via someone else phone, because they will call and harass them as well. They called my friend as many times as they called me about MY car payment. DO NOT EVER takeout a loan with these ppl. In a few more months my car will be paid off, and they couldnt pay me to get involved with another loan with them. Horrible interest rate (My loan was sold to them, I had no choice), terrible customer service, and good luck getting in touch with them when they dont call you.

They have called me right back after hanging up with them when an arrangement was made. When they say that the call is being recorded, I tell them that I am recording the call also, then they tell me that I can't do that or they hang up.

You must work for them, because its not that easy!

We get calls for a staff person 2 - 3 times a day from this place.  I told them yeterday the person they were trying to reach would be out of the office until 9/6. They called again today and I told them that they were told yesterday the person they were wanting is out of the office until next week so there is no reason for them to call anymore. We'll see if it stops.

Like everyone else, this is santander...they are calling me on a deficiency for a vehicle that was totaled during evacuation by my daughter and her family during Ike. I am retired and doing the best I can but they don't care and continue to call from different numbers even though I tell them the same thing every month.

I complete agree with everyone.. Santander SUCKS!!!!! big-time.. I made arrangements to pay them late(s*** happens).. told them before my payments was due.. They still call me like 30 times a day foreal!!!! I'm not exaggerating. If I can get my car re-financed with another company , I promise you I will .They are VERY rude.. Yeah, Just got a call from this number this morning. Didn't know who it was until i searched for the number. Just got my blackberry and was using family members' number to pay my bills.

This is Santander (or Sonn Tonn Dare as they pronounce it, Welcome to America!) and they are by far the worst finance company you will ever have the misfortune of dealing with! IF YOU are ever sitting in a car dealership applying for an auto loan and you are approved by this company - GET UP AND WALK AWAY. You'll save yourself countless months/years of grief. Originally we had HSBC Auto until March 2010 and then Santander took over, except we didn't find that out until 5 months later! During the next 30 days we made 2 huge payments to catch up the past due loan and a week later they sent out a tow truck to repo the car! After 2 phone calls it was returned later the same day with a bad starter!?! They are the most disorganized company you company you will ever deal with and call from all over the place to any number they can find for you or family members - they've called numbers that i have no idea how they got? And they are the definition of talking to someone with amnesia, talking to them is like living out the movie Groundhog's Day. Good Luck and Stay Away if possible.

I received a call from "Design Works by" this morning. I had no idea this was Santander calling me.
It just doesn't cease to amaze me that debt collectors will resort to trickery to try to get their
debtees to answer the phone so they can collect on a debt. The fact is, if I don't recognize the
phone number dialing my number, or my caller ID doesn't show any information of the caller, I don't answer the phone. And if they don't leave a message, that is on them.

Absolutely awful. Had I seen the writing on the wall I never would have bought that car and would have stuck to my old credit union. Santander calls from all the different numbers mentioned above and then a few new ones that are showing as "unavailable" on my id. Well, if you're unavailable to me, then I'm unavailable to you. Someone else mentioned they are rude. It's true. I've called to arrange a payment scedule and been flat out hung up on. Well f*ck you, Santander. Hope your company goes belly up. That god I only have a couple grand left on my car!!

They flat our harrass people. It's hard to accept that there is nothing we can do about it to get them in check...yeah right!
They're horrible. My loan was sold to them by another company as well, and they call even when you are "close" to being late. SO irritating!

They started calling as soon as they got my account from another company.  I was current in my payments, but they claim I am not.  As soon as I prove to them that they are wrong, they change their story.  I get about 10 calls a day from them.

I get 23-30 calls a day from them under 14 different phone numbers. I have them all on my reject list so goes straight to voicemail. They only leave one or 2 messages a day though. Serious harrassement. I hate them can't wait til next year when I am done with them

This is Santander, they are ruthless and dont care when they call or how many times they call. They hide behind so many numbers thinking that will prompt an answer after you have already made payment arrangments with them. Especially the man that calls himself Mr. Brooks and tries to imtidate someone with the tone of his voice. Something needs to be done about this company.

This bunch calls even during the night 50 times a day. never leaves a message and uses abusive language when I answer. then 2 min after they call and I'v talked to them they call again and again and again.  sunday a.m. at 5 a.m they called... really  WHY DON'T THEY GO TO CHURCH LIKE MOST PEOPLE.
