don't believe it!!! I have been dealing with these type of companies for a couple of years now. I had a payday loan in 2006 which I paid off and they have said I was going to have a warrant issued, they were going to garnish my wages, they were going to serve me with papers and all of the other threats they seem to like to say....let's just say I have gotten my license renewed, gotten my car registered, have even been pulled over and given a warning from a DPS Trooper and guess what!!!??? No warrant is out...what they are doing is against the law.  You need to know the consumer laws regarding your state when dealing with these morons...in Texas a debt collector can not garnish wages unless it is ordered by a judge, they can't put a lien on any of your property and they can't arrest  you (there is no debtors prison). Oh and by the way, still waiting for the 48 hours to be over and be served at my place of business and I'm still waiting to be arrested (been at least three years)

Decades ago (WAY before there was caller-ID) when I was stationed at Ft. Gordon, GA, the phone number we were given was apparently previously owned by some guy who did not pay his bills.  We used to receive phone calls from people to whom he owed money.  After receiving a few calls and talking to the callers I figured out what the guy's name was and what his address was.  It was in one of the low rent areas of Disgusta, Georgia.  We drove by his house a few times and I think I even saw the guy a time or two.  Most calls went like this.

Me: Hello.

Caller: Is this Bill?  I wanna talk to Bill.

Me. Um, no one lives here who is named Bill.  I think you have the wrong number.

Caller: I ain't got no wrong number.  You better put that &$*#@& Bill on the phone RIGHT NOW.

Me:  Sorry but you have the wrong number.  What number are you calling?

Caller: 123-4567 and I know this is Bill's number.  Put that *&#^@% on the *&$^#% line RIGHT NOW.

Me: F*#^$ Y(%*!  (I hang up.)

Phone rings again in less than 2 minutes.  It's the same guy.  After we exchanged some words he continues:

Caller:  You *&$#% I'm coming over there right now to get my money and you better have it for me.

Me:  Let me tell you something you &*#$%^, if you come over here you had better &*$# well bring a M(*%&*# F*&#$ing GUN that's bigger than the one I have.  I'm going to shoot your sorry &#$ as soon as I see you get out of the car.  If you bring the *&#$^$ COPS then I'll shoot their sorry *&#$#$ too.  (I hung up and took the phone off the hook.)

I told my wife, "let's go down to Bill's house and see if anything happens."

We drove down to his house (got there in about 15 minutes).  We couldn't get closer than about 2 blocks from the house because there was a full police response and  they had roads blocked off everywhere in the neighborhood.  Later, on the 11 o'clock news we heard that they ended up getting into a 4 hour standoff with the occupants of the house.  Several arrests were made.  We never answered our phone for the next week or so.  We moved on post into family housing and never heard another word about it again.

Ronda, is there an award for "most incoherent rant" that I'm not aware of ? You seem to be a good candidate.

Assuming one *did* take out a loan and didn't pay it back, what makes you think that the money was spent on debt ? After all, if one doesn't pay their bills, what's to say that a loan would be used to.....pay off debt ?

} letter stated I had 30 days to dispute the debt.  So is it 48 hors or 30 days?

A very good question. The 30 day dispute window is a disclosure required per the FDCPA on the initial dunning letter. Any statement or implication within the same notice of a different time limit to pay up before bad things happen creates a violation known as "overshadowing". You get your 30 days to demand validation no matter what the agency says to distract you from exercising that right.

translation with Hillbilly Filter removed:

"I'm so clever and funny I kill myself. I'm a shill for a debt collection agency which relies on illegal extortionist tactics. The lies and false threats my friends tell on the phone are all justified, no matter what the FTC or attorneys general say. All alleged debtors are welfare queens who spend all their loose cash on costly toys rather than paying their bills. They could easily avoid collections but choose not to, because they enjoy stealing from banks. That's what my boss tells me, anyway. Okay, toke and hackey sack break is over, must get back to work terrorizing people who owe nothing into paying us."

What?  You have an illegal boarder in your house?  You better get him to pay rent!
Oh wait, did I read that wrong ;-)  Perhaps the poster could learn the language of his/her victims better and try again.

Another experienced deadbeat telling us what to do.  Must be a psychic since there is no proof anyone owes money.  Just another shill with nothing better to do.  BTW "boarder" is someone who lives in an home and pays rent.  D-oh!!  You are also 4 months late replying to the thread.  Get a calendar if you can afford one.

Shill, who are you to call anyone a dirt bag?  Can you even read?  If so, you would realize that most people complaining in this thread either had no debt, or the person the caller was seeking was not at this number.  And then you turn around and try to justify illegal behavior because you claim some "dirt" bad doesn't pay their bills?  Gee, life must be tough for a maggot like you in the boiler room!

Debt Collector
This company is actually Four Star Resolution, LLC (filed with New York State as 4 Star Resolution, LLC). They always call themselves F.S. (fill in the blank - Mediation, Legal, etc.). They are collecting on PayDay loans that were issued in New York and Maryland where they are illegal. Report them to the FTC, the CFPB and the New York Attorney General. Save the letters they send with a Canadian return address, they are an FDCPA violation by themselves (keep the envelope they are mailed with a Syracuse NY pre-sorted mail permit). A class action attorney could have a field day with a written threat of legal action on an illegally originated pay-day-loan.

**ALL OF THE DEBT THEY COLLECT ON IS PAST THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS. LEGALLY YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THIS DEBT.** Call your State Attorney General if you do not know the statute of limitations in your state and while you have them on the phone file a complaint against the company using their correct legal name and address contained in this post.

They actually operate out of a boiler rooms located at 1839 Seneca St., Buffalo, NY 14210 and a former Blockbuster store (seriously) at 2400 Seneca Street Suite 7, Buffalo, NY 14210.

Here's a link to their BBB profile:

http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... lo-ny-235970527

File a complaint with the BBB that describes the company name and telephone number they are using currently if you receive a letter or a phone call. All of the names they use are totally fake and bogus: Frank White, Mark Johnson, John Ford, etc.

The company is owned by Travell Thomas. Travell likes to hide his location and doesn't come into the office much, but his mother Cynthia Thomas lives at 56 Fennimore Ave., Buffalo, NY 14215. You can give her a call at (716) 837-2858.

The New York State Attorney General is aggressively pursuing rogue debt collectors and people who collect on payday loans which are illegal in New York. Report this company to the NY Attorney General by calling (800) 771-7755. Let them know the fake number they called you from, the fake company name used in the call with you and the legal name and address of the company contained in this post.

Just got a call from 312-278-7026, caller ID said it was from Chicago. They are telling me that a check was return to my bank, and if I did not talk to them or follow up that a complaint would be in progress. I called the bank and found nothing wrong. This number will be blocked.

Call from Mark Whitfield - CRS & Assoc. - RE: Item returned by my bank - WRONG - I would know if I had an item returned by my bank, as I have overdraft protection, and they would have charged me for paying it. This should not be allowed - The number came from a "wireless caller" 312-278-7026 - Is there no way to stop this bothersome behavior ?

Someone called a relative of mine and asked for me.  They would not give their name or the name of the company when asked but wanted to get my social security number.  Who in this day and time will offer their ss number to an unknown person over the phone who won't tell you why or where they are calling from.  Fools.  The person asked them again and they hung up.  Sound suspect.  Looking at the other responses on this page, it's probably an illegal company trying to get money out of folks.

About a month ago these people called my husband's work place and threatened to arrest him for a bad check - my husband doesn't write checks - ever.  Then they started calling me and even sent a corresponding letter from the IAS touting the 48 hours or else line. Funny, though, their poor rendition of the Fair Debt Collection Act printed at the bottom of the letter stated I had 30 days to dispute the debt.  So is it 48 hors or 30 days?   I finally answered one time and explained my intent to turn them in.  They went away until today and just called back under the name "Sierra and Associates" leaving the same threats about a returned item from the bank.  New name, old game.
