Over a period of a month and a half I received 21 unsolicited telemarketer calls and a total of 8 personal calls. I'm on the Do not call list and have an unlisted number on a land line. Much fewer than others I'm sure! I'm led to believe "someone" is out there diligently working on correcting the problem. Yet, here we all are, complaining to the n'th degree and still getting slammed with call after call. It seems that until these callers bottom line is severely hit, nothing will alter their behavior and we, the public, ie, dupes, will just keep airing useless complaints. It would be great to have a little instant Karma and maybe hire up an idle hacker or two to track these violators down and turn the tables. But of course, that would be illegal. Hmmm. I really appreciate your site and the opportunity it avails to commiserate with others taken advantage of by this annoying and illegal activity. It would be great to hear of any instances where these violators are taken to task and actually fined out of business and not just wrist slapped and going on under a new name and continuing as if nothing ever happened. I don't need a scooter (yet) or home security system. I'm happy with my mortgage and relatively content with my credit card rates. The gov't. can tell me everything I've done over the last month, they can stop terrorists' in their tracks (BIG, BIG KUDDOS!) but can't outwit one of these spammers. Just a thought. One day a month (usually the 10th) I also get 3-4 calls from the DAV. Guessing they're exempt from the No Call List, but still annoying. Never any message, so it seems less legit if they are indeed soliciting help for their non-profit venture. Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

The problem with the National Do Not Call List is that it only works for companies who are legit and have some kind of morals and ethics. The DNC List is failing, but not because of how it is run, necessarily, but because of people who do not feel that the rules apply to them.
The people making these kinds of calls have absolutely no morals or ethics. They are TRYING TO STEAL YOUR IDENTITY.
Basically, your only defense is not to answer the call at all. Doing so just confirms that it is a legitimate number. In my case, my voice mail picks up, which again validates that it is a legit number, so they keep calling. One would have to turn off their answering services to make the number appear to be invalid and hopefully stop the calls.
One can only hope that karma will catch up to these people and that they will be constantly harassed by people and companies like themselves.

i keep getting these on my cell and business phone. i have started using a refs whistle that i use
to call my dogs in...hard on the ear drums.
p.s. if your cell phone or home phone is listed as a business you cannot get on the do not call list. i found this out when i called to complain that the calls were/are still getting thru.

It this is AT&T, and you have T-Mobile, the calls "may" have something to do with the fact that AT&T bought T-Mobile. Maybe? Since they leave no message, I will block this number.

They got mad at me when I said I wouldn't agree to it without discussing it with my husband first too, but he didn't bother transferring me to a floor manager, he just told me he was going to "opt out" of the conversation. As if it wasn't his choice to waste 35 minutes of my time!

If you are on the no call list and are still getting telemarketers calls. Try YouMail !!!!
YouMail is free and takes the place of your normal voicemail service.
If you get a call, program the number into YouMail with a custom recorded message (like
this number has been disconnected) and you will never hear from them again.

This is a telemarketer that I have had NO dealings with at all. They keep calling and we never answer so I'm sure it is computer generated and possibly illegal. Looks like the feds could put a stop to it with all the complaints I see on the postings.

This phone is on the Do Not Call List. If your recording starts "This is not a spam call", then it's a spam call, because it IS a recording!

I also received a call despite being on the Do Not Call List. I don't know about the rest of you, but I WILL report what little info I have at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx (national list) and https://www.puc.state.tx.us/consumer/complaint/NoCallForm.aspx (Texas list).

From some credit card service, leave a message that says they want to lower interest rates. I never press 1 but they leave a message every so often. ????

I tell them, 'Please hold while I forward your call to FBI Fraud Investigations.' Press flash and hang up the phone.

Yep they're a pain all right. Just got the call too. Waited until the end and when they said press "1" to speak to someone. I did. Fussed at the guy for calling me when I'm on the do not call list. Asked to speak to a manager. He got real evasive and finally hung up. Maybe if a few thousand folks wasted their time they'd get the message
| They're hunting for a biter 2011-06-08 19:31:57 Unknown |
Just like everyone else, I too know it's a scam. I think what they are trying to do is get someone probably an elderly person on the phone who doesn't know up from down so they can take advantage of them. I hear about it every day. We need to make sure our family members all know about this too. They may be wasting a lot of their time, but they aren't wasting it all. There's a reason they are so adament on non-stop calling. It is because sometimes they have a biter. Hook, line, sinker.... A*holes!

Just got one from this number on my cell phone w/ Verizon. The do not call list is crap if they don't enforce violators!

My cell phone is on the do not call list. However, I received an unwanted call from this phone number today.

Also got this phone call a few days ago. A recording saying they can lower the interest rate on my high rate credit card. I put myself on a do not call list a while back, but obviously these jackwagons get the #s somehow... UGH!
| Snizzledaddy 2011-06-08 07:30:07 Unknown |
I saved this number in my phone and chose the option on my verizon droid to send call straight to vm. Hope this solves the problem.

I asked again to take me off their call list and then proceeded to tell the operator that I keep keeping calls to "lower my interest rate". He became lewd with me and saying he was going to jump on plane to show me what a husband is suppose to do. I asked to speak to his supervisor. After a brief hold a Spanish speaking man got on the line and I told he that they were not funny. I could hear a lot of laughter and lewd comments in the background so I hung up.

Some BS call from "account services" claiming to offer a reduction in credit card rates. I know a scam when I hear one! SHUT EM DOWN please!
