My 89 year old mother got this phone call. She responded and had a "nice long chat with a lovely young lady" that told her she had won a 3 day, 2 night "all expenses paid" cruise to the Bahamas. Unfortunately, she gave them her credit card number. When I found out, I contacted her credit card company and found out they had posted TWO charges on hold to her account of $972.00 on the same day. I am still going around in circles with her credit card company trying to get things straightened out. Canceled her card and had a new one issued but told that have to wait and see if this outfit tries to submit for payment in 15-16 days. Even though that credit card is no longer valid, charges would be transferred and posted to her new card!!! If I get this mess fixed, I'll let you all know what it took to make happen.

Nick Scrivani (spelling?) left me a message is calling my business.  He said he's from AT&T and wants to go over my account.

Right.  I believe that.   He's with a company that can sell AT&T products and services.  He knows nothing about my account.  If he did, he would already know I'm on a plan that doesn't expire for another year.

The following is from the BBB.org  of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Be sure to go to the site and read everything. I wasn't able to fit it all here. This company uses 10 different names, but are somehow not recognized as a cruise line in the industry on other general booking sites. The chances of loosing money here is quite high. They want to charge us a $14.00/day/person oil or gas fee if  "the ship isn't booked up completely or if there is an oil spill."  Another fraud victim was told the same thing but the oil fee was to be charged if the "price of oil per barrel went over forty dollars."  It's been over $100.00/barrel for several years now. I shopped out Carnival Cruise just to see if the prices compare and they are about the same price. So it is better to initiate the sale from your end by contacting a reputable cruise line that you think has comparable prices. There are no freebees here. In my package, I got 3days/2/nights in Fort Lauderdale, the 2 day/night Bahama cruise and 3day/2night in Orlando, all with a rental car and meals. They threw in 2 other vacations to Vegas and Mexico for the $600.00 total cost plus gratuity, extra excursions off the ship and the bogus oil fee, which could be substantial for 3 people if we stayed more days on the ship portion of the vacation instead of the land portion.I compared room rates to Carnival and there is a loss of money here if the oil fees are billed at any more than 2 days worth for three people. I'm not even sure if they are in the cruise business or even own a canoe, so I am waiting for the vouchers/written information. My bank is ready to go after them if need be.

Additional Complaint Information

Our file contains a pattern of complaints from consumers who state they were contacted by this company and told they won a free three day two night cruise to the Bahamas. The only fees mentioned are the port fees in the amount of $59 per person. Some consumers state they are not told of additional fees or that they must attend a two hour timeshare presentation as a part of the agreement. Consumers report the timeshare presentation is very high pressure as well as high pressure sales to upgrade their cruise. Some consumers complain they were told they have 30 days to review the travel packet and cancel for a full refund. Requests for a refund result in rude customer service and a refusal to issue the refund as mentioned in the sales presentation.

The company responds to complaints by issuing a full or partial refund.

If you choose to do business with this company BBB strongly encourages consumers to read and understand all the terms, conditions, and fees involved in the agreement. All terms of the agreement should be in writing with no verbal representations.

Got the same call on the cell phone.  Same political survey and very nice person on the other phone telling me all about my cruise.  However, when I indicated that I don't give out my credit card over the phone regardless of the reason and mentioned that I used to be a fraud investigator, so I don't pay anything using identifiable numbers, only something like Paypal.   She said Thank You and got off the phone pretty quickly.  They were looking for payment for "port taxes" of $59 per person depending on how many would be going.

Supposedly Carribean Cruise Lines.  Thats all I know.

A Scam call your credit card and stop payment! I received the same survey question from a #( usually computer generated) it showed it was from Washington DC 202-644-8225. After survey I was connected to this Caribbean cruise line. Her name was Kayla Stein she gave me her name 3 times ! I knew it was a scam,  just wanted to see how far she'd take it. When you can hear kids yelling in the back round its pretty obvious!  Never give anyone your information if they called you, nothing is free and if it sound to good to be true it probably is!! They will become very irate just hang up unless your like me and want alittle fun in a boring morning. Its a shame this is the only way people feel they came earn an income. buyer beware!

I just received the call from a (307) 274-3899 phone number. And after telling me all the nice things about the trip they asked me to pay a fee of $59 to cross US sea borders. I said that I would pay this but if there was some other method besides the phone because I do not feel comfortable with giving away my information over the phone, and they simply said nevermind, bye. What a scam!

Unknown number calling my unpublished cell, date/time Jan. 10, 2012, 12:50pm Pacific time.  It was some sort of scam.  When I dialed back their number from a landline for the heck of it, a fake message came on saying "This is a non-working number."

Solve this problem with a SILENT ring tone.
To do this use the record option on your phone. Record SILENCE for 1 second. Save the phone number that you want and assign the name "Do not answer". Assign the silent ring tone to this number.

After that when they call you will not be bothered because you will not hear a ring as it is silent.  The only way you know they called is when you look at your phone and see that you missed a call. When you see the missed call was from "Do not answer" you can just laugh.

Does not block the call but otherwise solves the problem.

Here is the information on Steve Hamilton to report to the Do Not Call Registry

According to a user on the website WhoCallsMe, this number belongs to an unknown out-of-state telemarketing company that purchased/leased it from a Los Angeles based competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) named Pacific Telecom.  Pacific Telecoms information is

Pacific Telecom Communications Group
ATTN: Steve Hamilton
12228 Venice Blvd Ste 559
Los Angeles CA 90066

The more people that report the better.

Also, everyone, please remember that this is a forum for people trying to figure out who is calling and harrassing them.  It has nothing to do with the telemarketers and I doubt they even look at this site.  So please keep your comments informational so that we can share to track these people down and report them.

Survey
I got a call from this number, and took the survey. They asked me questions about the national debt. But get this, the three questions obviously pit the Reps. against the Dems. I chose answers that were favorable to the Dems, the last questions was about Obama's handling of the debt, when I chose a favorable answer, it would not record it!!! I tried three times, and I was then disconnected. Nice huh?
