Got a text "Dear Central Bank of Kansas City Customer, we regret to inform you that we had to lock your bank account access.Call 312-780-0494 to restore your account."  Obviously a scam, since I don't even bank with that institution!  Number is in Chicago.

Just received the same thing. I'm not a central bank customer. The real Central bank of kansas city branches all have 816 area code phone numbers. SCAM! BEWARE! Text came from short code 1234.

I got the same text at 12:00 PM today. It's from "Unknown Sender". I do not have an account with "Central Bank of Kansas City". Anyway, It's unlikely that an important correspondence would be sent via text and not include any identifying information (like my name) not to mention that the phone number is in Chicago.

And by the way, I cannot reply to the message with "STOP". That will sometimes block spam messages but the reply option is unavailable for that message.

I wonder what phone service you have I have had texts from 1234 the last two weeks and we have sprint. just wondering if you all have sprint also??

Received text saying that I am a central Kansas bank customer and my account has been frozen asked to call this number and to enter my card number.

Got the same message today at 11/5/09 at 2:43 pm , got to be  a scam , if you call the number back the automated system askes for you bank acct number an stuff , i just hung up . I also have sprint cell phne service as well . I want these people caught an punished ! There are probably some people that fall for it an get their bank accounts cleared out , how sad!!

I received the same text on my cell phone yesterday. I knew it was a hoax because I don't have an account at Central Bank of Kansas City.  I tried to reply to it and got a message back "the recipent you are sending to has chosen not to recieve messages".

I have Sprint phone service.

Received text saying "Dear Community Driven Union Customer, we regret to inform you that we had to lock your bank account access.  Call 312-780-0494 to restore your account."  When I called the number it asked me to enter my card number and did not give an option of speaking to anyone.  I hung up at this time.
