I live in the Rochester area too and was scammed by Hudson Energy.
Hudson Energy is a rip off. I got taken by them a few years ago. They promised to lower my gas and electric bill but it went sky high. I complained to the PSC and they investigated. They made Hudson Energy refund me $368. Make sure you always get names and account #s and claim #s. I kept track and gut justice in the end. Better yet if they call, tell them to take a bus.

Nope. I just received one of these calls. I live in Rochester NY, and nobody here receives services from Central Hudson. Apparently, their target area has increased, and I'm not sure what they want. It was a man who wanted to know who was in charge of heating and cooling decisions in our home. I told him the person wasn't home. Then, he asked when would the person be home? I asked him what did he want? And he hung up.

phone comes in with a scrambled bunch of numbers for NAME with the number 315-701-5573.  They leave no message but call constantly

Get lots of calls from this number.  I just don't answer, or better yet, I answer then hang up right away.

got a call today, pretending to be from my energy company orange and rockland, wanted me to switch to their energy company, i have actually listened to their entire pitch before, it ends up not being much of a savings and i have told them i am not interested many many times. The man who called today got very rude and said "ok well not very smart of you  if you don't want to save money on your energy bill. I said "sc**w you" under my breath when I hung up and he immediately called me back and demanded to know what I said and that I was being recorded. I said " you called me,I can say whatever I want" You calling me back is now harrassment, when I asked for his name and to speak with his supervisor he hung up. I am filing a complaint with the company because I am tired of their constant calls and flippant responses. I am on the national do not call list but somehow this is the only telemarketer that gets through.

Just call a call from this number, asking for someone in the household by name (a female). When I answered ''YES'', (i am a male), THEY HUNG UP!

My husband and I had the exact same situation this afternoon.  The woman asked for my husband by name and knew our address.  I told the woman I do not believe she is affliated with Central Hudson, as today they are closed due to the holiday.  I also asked her why the number originated from Syracuse, NY when Central Hudson is a local company.  She tried to smooth talk me, but I told her I am reporting her to Central Hudson and the Attorney General.  I agree with you; I too find this very unnerving.  The closest thing I can figure is that they are targeting areas they know receive services from Central Hudson, and then they use property look up to get your name and address.

This seems top be a recent entry into the robo-call numbers.  All the comments and questions on it here are recent.  Either it is one of the numbers set up to dial you, well, dial many numbers, and record only if someone picks up or not.  Those that pick up get their number tagged as (a) someone who will answer an unfamiliar number calling,a nd (b) it recordds the time you ansered, i.e., when you might be home.  Then that information is sold to robo-callers, direct phone marketers, etc.  or CR is the story, and this Central Hudson.  I doubt it.  I think that was a fishing attempt in and of itself.

Caller called yesterday at 2:30 and today at 1:50.  The call originated in Syracuse, NY.  No one there at first but I stayed on the line and a woman got on.  She said she was calling on behalf of Central Hudson (our electric company) about our bill (she also said that there was nothing wrong with our bill) and wanted to know our acct. #.  She stated that this was a call to reduce our electric bill.  My husband said he did not want to conduct business over the phone and to mail the information.  It turns out that she had our mailing address .... that was unsettling because she also asked for my husband by name and obviously has our phone number.   I think she also told my husband that she would not mail any information.

Has called everyday while I am out.  I called back and they just say hold.

They just called me now and no one said anything. I told them not to call if they're not going to say anything. I got a call from this number yesterday morning and a male voice came on and said something like, "It sure seems like everything is working out, ma'am". When I asked who it was they hung up.

This number calls me every day at 2:30 pm and it is getting on my nerves because they always hang up when I answer. What flipping company is this?

I would like to know who called me and what they called about.
