I got a call this morning from 317-559-5545 and I am in the DNC registry and I ´m fed up with these scammers. They are obviously getting people´s names from some file and they are criminals.
They called at 8pm & left no message. I am so tired of getting all these calls from numbers I don't know. DNC registry does not work.
Quotes below are excerpted from a Salt Lake Tribune article:
"A Utah company and the Federal Trade Commission have filed dueling lawsuits against each other, with federal regulators alleging the Murray [Utah] company made 16 million calls to people on the National Do Not Call list and deceived customers...."
"The FTC filed its lawsuit Thursday in Tallahassee, Fla., alleging Feature Films for Families Inc., Corporations for Character L.C. and Family Films of Utah, and their owner, Forrest S. Baker III, violated the Federal Trade Commission Act and the Telemarketing Sales Rule."
"The FTC lawsuit states that in 2008 and 2009 the companies conducted a nationwide calling campaign under the name 'Kids First.'"
Kathy...I didn't have my glasses on either. Also, a big mistake that I will not repeat. I hung up on them mid-sentence. I suspect a con, telemarketer, or some other undesirable!
recoreded message at the start... If you want this number placed on a do not call list press 1
these people keep calling and want stop 3175595545
These two numbers show on my caller ID from this company 602-753-5621 & 815-687-8080 Both say same thing. I have not answered the phone and turn off the ringer.. they have called twice a day for the last two weeks.
did/do you have a bank account with bank of America and owe them money? Just curious
I didn't answer call.
They called me at almost 9 pm. I answered and she asked for Lance. I said no there is no Lance here and was just about to give it to her for calling so late when my son is sleeping and she says, Ok, just so you are aware.... click, she hangs up. So I write down the number from my caller I.D. and call back. I get the option to have my number removed or to talk to someone, I take the second because I want to tell these people not to call for one and definitely not so late. I get another recording that says they are closed and to call back during normal business hours which are between 9:00 am and 6 pm. So even if they are in a different time zone, they are still making calls after they are closed? This was a real person I talked to, not an automated voice. Though, maybe they are installing chips in peoples heads these days, who knows. So then it says if I would like to leave a message to do so after the prompt, and include, my name, number and brief description of the nature of my call. Ok fine, Im gonna let the voicemail have it then.... Nope, it goes Beep and I get ANOTHER message saying, Im sorry, you cant leave a message because this voicemail is full. At this time Im screaming at the stupid now automated voice, saying OF COURSE IT IS, WHY WOULDNT IT BE!!! Now I get another option... press 2 for more options..... press 1 to disconnect. Are you FREAKING KIDDING ME! Why can these people not be shut down?! There has to be a way of tracking them!
Every time I get a call from someone I don't recognize I pick up the phone and then set it down and walk away, as there are very few people that have our home phone number. Sometimes I can hear the caller getting upset that nobody is talking, it's quite entertaining. Just decided that I wasn't going to let these scumbags irritate me and I'm going to have fun with them. I did it to this caller this morning and heard them say something about they can't hear me and they'll call back. Yeah, good luck with that.
Got a call at noon. Rang several times. Out of state number so I did not pick up. No Message left. What are they accomplishing??
Calls repeatedly and does not leave a message. Registers on caller ID as CORP4CHARACTER -- interestingly similar to the calls I was getting last week that ID'd as CORP4CHANGE from (646) 558-6742.
Blocked both. Spammity spam.
This company, according to my Caller ID, is from CORP4CHARACTER, using the #317-559-5545. I had a caller a week earlier from the same company, again, according to my Caller ID, from the number 314-666-848. Don't know who they are or why they are calling ME! Called from my TracFone. "David" answered. How could he help me. I told him they called me at least fourteen times a day. What did they want. He said I called them. He kept telling me I was calling from a call center. I told him that I was not calling from a Call Center, but from my cell. He told me that I was calling a call center and what did I want? Finally he told me they conduct surveys. I told him that my answer to any survey is to stop calling my phone. He asked my phone number, and I gave him one (made-up). He said thanks and hung up! What??? I expected something afterward, like we'll place you on the do not call list, or sorry to bother you, or something. I was hung0up on, so their character is abysmally low, as far as I'm concerned! Perhaps it's corporation for BAD character, but left off the unflattering adjective!
Called my wireless number. Didn't recognize the number (not even the area code), so I didn't answer. Left no message.
Becky J Todd
Call from Corporations of America asking if this was Becky. When I said yes they said, "ok then we will call back another time" I said "this is Becky what did you want." no response. I stated that if they did not want to talk to me to take me off their list. Still no response.
317-559-5545 =Corporation 4 character, I just received a call from them wanting me to press "9" to "sign their petition" I asked several times "exactly what does the petition say? How does it read??" She responded with thank you anyways. ( Im not pressing number 9) I could have been agreeing to accept a collect call or third party call or something. They absolutly got the number from the telephone company i use. CimTel in OK. good luck
This isnt a real person. It is an intelligent auto dialer that uses speech to text and parses the logs to determine the most logical pre-programmed response. So, when the responses take a little too long or if the response just doesn't make sense, it isnt the result of a lack of intelligence; rather, it is the result of technology and autodialers.
If you ever get a call like this and you want to know if it is a real person or not, wait for them to start talking. In the middle of a sentence (and word if possible), abruptly being talking. It is human nature to immediately stop talking, usually very briefly, when interrupted. This holds especially true if the caller is cold calling with a goal in mind (example - sales, appointment setting, donations, etc). This is because active listening is immensely important when trying to sell or convince a complete stranger. They will always yield to the cold callee whenever the opportunity arises because they have to understand objections in order to overcome them.
This was clear to me when i interrupted this robot with, "badger waffle sticker blue triangle real person halt all pirate ships only the rabbits will eat it." The most logical response here would be something along the lines of "uhhh, what?" But instead i got, "i am a real person but i seem to have some trouble understanding you so i will have my manager call you back." "Real person" was picked up by the AI and the call was aborted by the dialer.
Just got a call from this number. Said they were doing a survey about movies and games for children. Asked my opinion, which I gave and then asked me to press 9 on phone to verify, which I did, okay, so now I feel like a dope! but it sounded innocent. She said someone would be contacting me soon about "buying" something, but I would not be required to buy. I hope I have not pulled too big of a dumb a** thing. I am usually very careful.
Did not answer.
Called to ask: Is the lady of the house in! Reply: Yes, she is!
She then said she call back later? What gives?
Just got this one. Doing my part to ensure that Bing/Google/Yahoo! searches on this number show up as SPAM.
This caller calls my home phone several times a day. And, begins to say, "my name is Amanda"; then, the call hangs up. Same caller from 2-different numbers (317) 559-5545 and (314) 666-8400. I never answer calls from numbers I do not recognize.
They just called my workplace and asked for someone named "Rita." We don't have anyone named Rita who works here. The woman got very flustered when I told her there was no one named "Rita" here and huffily said "I know I have the right number". Then she proceeded with her spiel about surveys and family entertainment. I cut her off (quite rudely)and told her she had the wrong number and to never call again. Then I hung up on her.
Since they do not leave a message on my answering machine, I suspect that this is the usual criminal scam to get your personal information or money.
They called my name and after that hung up. It is clear that they are a bunch of morons......
I got a call once. They knew my nickname ad acted as if they were a family member. I'm only 14, they got a hold of my personal cell and my home phone number. They have been calling me for weeks. Of course I never pick up but it's getting really annoying.
got a call from 317-559-5545 asked if this was Elizabeth and she said "just so that u know ,this is Amelia and I will just call back another time"
