got a call from this number at 15:25 today. the lady who called knew that i was having a computer issue with sallie mae and informed me that "they" are still working on the issue. (the issue is that i can no longer sign on to my acct...to view or pay...and i have had it for 8 years and now all of a sudden i'm blocked off and nobody can fix it) she did say that this phone call could be recorded and when i told her about all the problems with my acct she was very sympathetic (which is NOT sallie mae's way) i didn't give her any personal info and she didn't give me any info on my acct other than she knew i was having computer issues. she didn't ask for money but she did say she would take payments over the phone for me and wave any fees associated with doing a check by phone. she gave me her personal line which is 1-866-850-2490 x 50234. called the number back after we hung up using a different phone line and got "thank you for calling sallie mae" and then it immediately rings and goes to a recording that "this phone call may be recorded" at which point i just hung up. too tired to deal with these thugs anymore and how do i know that my account wasn't hacked on sallie mae's end and she just read through the notes hoping that i would cough up my checking account info? i've been having a problem with the on-line acct since january and nobody can help me and now 3-21-13 they still can't help but yet "they" are working on it and this random lady calls. sounds fishy to me.

these people Sallie Mae are jerks.  I make all my payments ON TIME and now they took my recent payment, then said I didn't pay it (despite I have confirmation that they cleared it) and are trying to charge me DOUBLE next payment!    I pay my student loans on time, and the balance keeps growing higher and not lower.  AVOID SALLIE MAE AT ALL COSTS!  They are crooks!!

Multiple messages today and it's a scratchy recording that I can barely understand. Does not sound legit. If it is from Sallie Mae then I will contact Sallie Mae directly, but I'm not late on anything. This is a scam.

They call everyday numerous times including saturday and sunday at approximately 8:30 am regularly  I have answered numerous times in frustration trying to find out what they want no one not even a recording I say hello they listen for a few seconds and hang up. I am fed up. What can I do to make them stop! I am on the do not call list thought that would stop them. :(

The phone said this was a call from Sallie Mae.  I was wondering what was going on when I answered the call, because I do not have a load of any kind with Sallie Mae.  When I answered it was just dead air.  I waited for a good 30 seconds saying hello...no one.

I wouldn't verify my DOB either.  I told the caller I would call Sallie Mae myself, as that is the safest way.  You don't know who is on the other end of that line.  And what can they do with your DOB?  Combined with other information they may already have, who knows?  Idendity thieves pull all kind of tricks.  It's always best to call them back.

what are they going to do with a date of birth... nothing, nothing at all if you weren't stuborn and just cooperate and give on simple peace of information they would be able to talk to you and help you out. you wouldn't want them just throwing all your personal information out to people who aren't you now would you?

I receive calls from this number on a regular basis. The last call came on 3-12-2011. Yes, a Saturday at approximately 8:30am. They demanded to talk to me after first speaking with another person in my household, revealing their company name, but not verifying anything. The first thing they wanted me to do was to verify my DOB before they could divulge any information. I said "No" about 4 times. Blatant disrespect. Not helpful at all. Sounds like a scam.

I receive calls from this number several times a day. They are looking for someone named William Johnson but apparently I am Chinese. It's always auto-voice machine. I never got a real person in the hundreds of calls. Does anyone has an idea how to stop them from callling all the day especially in the morning?

General Revenue Company specializes in collecting defaulted student loans. Sallie Mae, Freddie Mae, etc.

Tried the same scam on me.  Told me I owed 3500 hundred dollars in federal loans.  The feds would never leave collection action in the hands of fools such as these.  I don't have any student loans for that amount.  They completely ruined my whole night with my family who I haven't seen in over a year.  I never should have answered the phone.  Do not trust any of your information with these people.

I received two calls from this number yesterday morning between 8am-8:45am.  No messages left.  They also tried calling me from (317) 594-1043 in the afternoon, and then from (317) 849-6510 again several times at night - up until 9 o'clock!  The lady left a voice message claiming that she was from "Student Assistance Corp" and told me to call her back at (800) 635-3743 or to go to www.solutions.usafunds.org

The site *looks* legit, but I know that a lot of sites do.  I called my lending company this morning, and they said they had NO IDEA who the callers were, and that the last time they called me was over a month ago about a different matter (this is true).  They told me I wasn't overdue.  

I will no longer be accepting any calls.  If there is an issue, I will contact my lenders myself.  I advise people to do the same!

I keep getting these calls from INDIANA.  I don't know anyone in Indiana.  Frequently they are 2 hours apart.  They called this morning before 9AM.  I don't answer the phone, but I let it go to the answering machine, but no one leaves a message...

I was doing some research on this number and this is what I came across. When I search this number on whitepages it showed:

So the summary is that Sallie Mae has different businesses using one number that is the same and running other businesses in other locations under different numbers. If you search the address of the General Revenue Corporation on bing.com and click the bird's eye view you will see that it's a huge place full of vehicles in the lot. I just wanted to research and make many more innocent residential people like me aware of this issue of sort. This will help make mine and you all case stronger when reported to the right authorities.

Received a call this number at 8:23am this morning, on my 2 year-old cell number.  I've been receiving intermittent calls from a variety of area code 317 numbers for several months, such as one yesterday (@12:22pm) from 317-578-6000.  All seem to trace back to Sallie Mae.  However, this morning is the first time that I've been left a voice mail. It was a standard pre-recorded automated message which was easily understood, except for the part of the message where a cheesy computer synthesized voice announced the name of the intended message recepient.  The message included a 1-888-272-5543 number to call.  You end up with Sallie Mae's automated phone system (like the one you get anytime you call the phone or cable company).  It claimed to have identified my account by the phone number I called from and wanted the "Last 4" of my social security number, which obviously didn't match since I'm not a Hispanic or Latino female named Ingrid (spelling?)  I found not option to actually speak to "Customer Service" and any other option told me they were closed and the normal hours of operation, which DON'T include Saturdays.

I have gotten 2 voice mails and a live person message in two days on my 24 hour old new Verizon cell account about student loans from these idiots. They are also using another #, 888-272-5543
I have no student loans and I'm really tired of this already.
