This is completely a scam.  These people call me several times a day usually when I tell them I haven't applied for a loan or they have the wrong number they just hang up but today the man decided he wanted to make this phone call extra "fun" and say derogatory things to me such as "put my dick in your mouth" and "shave the hair off your p**sy"  as well as tell me that he was going to kill me and my family if I didn't not do what he wanted and then told me to hang up the phone.  I stayed on the phone just to see what else this inhuman piece of s*** my say but all he did was continue his stupid comments and cursing, when I didn't say anything back to him he just hung up.  I'm going to have to change my # I guess.

I have been receiving calls all day long for a Payday loan.  I have asked them to remove my number everytime.  The last time Jack called he told me there is a $4.00 fee to be removed from the list and I needed to give him my credit card number to process that fee.  I just laughed at him.  He told me until I paid that fee he will call me day and night until I pay it.  This is a sham that this has to continue.  Is there any way to put a stop to this?

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I am sick and tired of getting numerous calls from this number. I have told them over and over again that I'm not the person they are asking for and they continue to keep calling. Today the non English speaking man called me a Bi*** when I told him to take me off his call list and when I called him back he said stop calling me. Something has to be done it's getting old.

They called stating they needed to talk to "Carol" about a loan.  No one by that name uses my number and I told him so.  BTW, the guy calling said he was "Robert" but had a heavy Indian accent.  They use many different numbers.  Sometimes when I answer, there's no one there.  If I call back, I often get the message saying the call cannot be completed or isn't a working number.  Occasionally, I get a live person who speaks English and I will request they put me on their Do Not Call list or they will be reported.  That seems to work but you have to get about 50 calls before you get an American on the line.  After blocking about a dozen of their numbers, the calls stopped for awhile.

I Googled other posts and found something that may help.  When you get a call from an unknown number, answer with something like "Attorney General's Office" or "Sheriffs Department" or "County Morgue".  I'm sure "FBI" and "Federal Communications Commission" will also work but perhaps the scariest would be "IRS-Audit Division".

It is against federal law for someone to call you, offer a loan, but require you pay upfront for it:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0078-advance-fee-loans

"If the offer of the loan is made by phone but you have to pay before you get access to any money, it?s illegal. It?s illegal for companies doing business in the U.S. by phone to promise you a loan and ask you to pay for it before they make good on their promise."

First rule of thumb concerning calls where they want you to get a green dot card, or some other type of loaded debit card (with your funds) BEFORE they send you "their" funds:  DON'T!!!  A legitimate online funds company does NOT ask for any funds up front, and they usually have you call your bank, so that a three-way conference verifies that you have a legit bank account with funds on the positive side.  Secondly, if you really need a loan of this type, Google "pay day loans," and the best ones are the ones run by Native American tribes on their reservations.  If you really need the funds, check out the payday loan companies that are in states that allow them.  Usually the cap is $500, where you get $425 and pay them $75 in interest when you pay it back, usually within two weeks, unless they'll work with you.  Otherwise, get yourself a phone system that blocks these callers, and after about a week or less, the calls will cease.

i received numerous calls from this caller claiming i had qualified for a $3000.00 payday loan. he told me to get a moneypak card for $150.00 saying this was only to prove i could make the first installment to pay back the loan. then he told me a hold was placed on the card because i owed $275.00 to bank of america, since they were in charge of the disbursement i had to pay what i owed to them for the money to be released. he told me to get another moneypak card and to pay the additional $275.00 to him over the phone. on three other separate occassions he lied to me about his name when i knew i was talking to the same person. then he claimed he never received the second payment even after i checked the moneypak card and the money was gone. I never received my loan.

Same experience as the rest of you....these people won't stop. I tell them to stop calling me and they continue to call. I had 11 missed calls in 2 hours so when I called the number back the lady told me to stop calling her...the nerve of these people. I should start calling them every 20 minutes and see how they like being harassed!

Over the past 24 hours, I have received a call every 15 to 30 minutes from all sorts of international and non-existing US area codes claiming they are with Pay Day loan.  All calls are from call centers in Asia that claim they are calling me because of the online application I filled.  They give me (323) 801-8221 as the company number.  If you ask them to stop calling me or remove my number, they hang up.  I don't know what to do to stop these people.  I wish them all a painful death!!!

Calls very frequently, to the point of harassment. When you say the person they asked for is not here, they slam the phone down on you, but call again in less than 30 minutes. They are really harassing. Usually they are very hard to understand when they speak because they speak with heavy accents. They do not identify their company.
