Same thing happened to myself- and they called two other family members the same day! Im calling at&t to get this number blocked!!! Theyve been calling for over a month now

Received a call on June 10,2013 from a man who said it was a nephew from Mexico.Was coming to CA and wantrd to stay over for a couple of days. He said be will call back tommorrow when he arrives at Nogales,Sonora. The same man called the next day and said he needed help. He said he had a car accident and hurt a child. He requested $1500.00 be sent to him otherwise he would be put  in  jail. I told him I was going to see if I can get the money to send him and to call me back in 10 min. I immediately called My nephew in Mexico and verified that it was all a scam. The scammer called back and I asked him to give me all informafion of where to se nd the money. The scammer nephew said to put it under the name of the family he i.jured. He said  the moneygram is to be made to Manuel Galvan Padilla  and send to Nogales, Sonora    He gave a street address also.  I asked for a number but he said he was using a public phone and there is no number.He called back to ask if money was sent. I  told him the police dept had been notified and to stop calling. Please make sure you file a police report if this happens to you so they can put this man in jail!!!

I got a call from this number (name unavailable) and the individual was speaking Spanish.  While I may have a Spanish surname not all of us are of Spanish descent or speak Spanish.  I told him I don't speak Spanish and he replied "F### you".  Guess he speaks English well enough to use an expletive.  Hope someone catches this guy as that kind of call is very disturbing and offensive on a Sunday.

OMG same thing happen to me yesterday and today but i got calls from two different numbers. The man was speaking only spanish and was looking for my mom that he was a nephew but my mom dont have any especially not in mexico. He insisted on talking to my mom because he wanted to surprise her by coming over tomorrow to visit. He never asked for money just wanted to visit but it was all wierd so i hung up. He called at 8:00am and said he was going to fly and needed me to get the flight information but i then gave the phone to my grandpa and he was asking him many questions and he just hung up. He hasn't called at all anymore but its just scary to have someone call like that. People please be careful and dont give no information out especially don't send any money. *** SAME SCAM STORY (in Spanish) asking to be picked up and stay at home, that they're at the Mexicali Airport. He would insist about getting your Cell Phone number.

After he noticed that I was hesitant to provide him Info, he said that his wife was picking up the luggage there, and that he would call later. Still waiting...

Same thing happen to my Mom The Guy said He was a nephew And he need help and how he was stranded in Mex-cal and how we was held up by the Home Land security for carry Too Much Money!!He Told my mom not to tell his mom and family because he didn't want them to worry. Then a layer  called saying he was going to held with the situation and asked my mom about friend and relatives and address and even phone numbers Crazy S***!!!! F### Them!!!!

WOW just got done dealing with this same issue.  My mom in law was wanting to send 1K to her nephew who was held up in TJ due to not reporting cash he was carrying in a suit case.  Said he was coming to visit her from Mexico.  It all sounded strange from the get go.  After several calls back from them (they wouldn't give her their number) and after we on the other end got a hold of the actual nephew who was still in Mexico at his home, told the man "Manuel Galvan Padilla" to go ahead and arrest the "nephew" as he was not a relative.  Of course it's a scam and they were all involved. Watch out for your elders, they're an easy target.  Not sure how else to go about reporting this.  A friend who works with phone company says the number is an Illinois number.  Any ideas?

I had recieved a call a couple of weeks back & I am not sure if it was the same number or not, but I was home alone at the time. This guy called & said he was from Mexico. I recognize that it was in fact in Mexico, because it said on the caller I.D. "Name Unavailable". He called & asked for my mom. I told him who is this? He said in spanish "its your primo", meaning "your cousin" "from the rancho (ranch)" he stated, & then said "how do you forget about us in Mexico?". I told him my mom was not there.

So I went to go visit my grandma & asked her if she knew who this guy was? I gave her the name he used, which I fogot which name it was, & my grandma said "Who?", "I have no idea about who you are talking about, we do not have any relatives with this name".

So today really early like at 8:00 a.m., the same guy called & asked to speak with my mom. I told my mom that he doesnt want to say who he is. & I told my mom don't give out your personal information, because he doesn't even sound Mexican & he says that he is realted to us. So she spoke with him, & he said that was related to her. He does not realize that my mom kept her last night when she married my dad!

 I called the police at 911 & they said that they could not do anything. They said that they could either send a police officer to the house to do a report, but I said its kind of useless because its not like they can trace the number. But I told them I just wanted to call the police, because I thought they would keep it on track.

When I typed this number on google, & I saw that a lot of people had recieved calls from the same person, I was shocked. What I do not get is how can they call you & then if you try to call back, it says "This number is no longer in service"?! These people can be drug cartels in Mexico & or fraud people.


    Please people, do not give out your information. This man sounds very weird. He does not want to reveal his identity. Do not believe the lies that he says, that he is related to you. Do not believe that you cousin is critical in the hospital due to a car accident & needs a certain amount of money. Make sure that you do call the police so that they realize that they need to put this issue to an end. Know that his weirdo who calls, is Mexican or Hispanic/Latino descent. Because he only speaks in Spanish. So I am guessing that he only calls Hispanic households. This world is truly full of pyschos. I hope that during one of his calls, he accidently calls a police officer or Border Patrol so they hunt his a** down.

i got a call from someone stating that my cousin was detained at they needed 2000 dollars to let him go

We basically had the same call. The guy said he was an uncle and was coming from Texas. He just wanted to know phone numbers from the family and was excited to be talking with us. He called a member of the family 5 minutes later and said he had had an accident and wanted some money. Thats when we found it a little strange and we hung up. 3 minutes later we called them back and it said "MSS 0-1 THE MOBILE NUMBER YOU HAVE CALLED IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE."

I got the same call this morning. This guy pretended to be my nephew and said he was crossing the boarded and needed me to pick him up from the airport. After I told him I didn't think he was my relative and would not be picking him up from the airport, he pretended he had to go and said he would call me back with the flight information. He never called back... Weirdo, total scammer....

I received basically the same call.  Relative getting into town would call me in the morning to let me know their status, called, then called again advising that they were in an auto accident and needed a couple of thousand dollars, then when I told them I didn't have that kind of money; they said whatever I could give them would do.  I said I couldn't help so they hung up.

This guy called and said in spanish that he is a cousin of mine stuck in Tijuana, and he needs money to be released by the airport police. The airport police guy came on the phone and confirmed his story. We called my cousin in colombia and confirmed that he is in bogota not TJ.
This person is a menace and a fraud. What can you do since he's in mexico? There's nothing an american policeman can do.

JUST RECIEVED THE SAME CALL... I DONT KNOW HOW TO GO ABOUT THIS.. IS THERE ANYTHING REALLY THAT THE POLICE CAN DO? WHAT ABOUT THE PHONE COMPANY? I TRIED CALLING BACK AND IT SAYS "WELCOME TO VERIZON WIRELESS, THE NUMBER YOUR ARE TRYING TO REACH HAS BEEN CHANGED......"

i dont know if the police can do anything...maybe just keep a look out for similar reports. also, the same man who called a few months back called from this number 331-083-4123. has anyone tried calling the number back??

Wow so glad that im not the only one that this is happening to! I got one of these calls about 2 months ago but this man asked for my mom and i asked who was calling and he said rudely in spanish 'where do you think, from mexico!' i hung up immediately cause my family isnt even from mexico. Later i found out that my neighbor was called too! Today i got another call and recognized the area code and the exact same voice was on the other end but this time i outsmarted him and answered in french. After he realized i didnt speak spanish he hung up. How do these people get our phone numbers?

OMG! my family just got the same thing today! a man called speaking spanish and said that he was a relative of ours from Mexico. He said that he had a surprise for us and that he was looking for my dad! This would normally not be too off base because we have relatives in Mexico. However, he would not give us his name and kept asking a lot of questions. Finally, we started asking him questions and then he hung up on us. Seeing this I now know that it must be a scam!

Everytrihing that everybody said it's true, he call my house and was asking the same things, he pretended to be recognize as a nephew of us, he repeated several times that he is our relatives from Mexico, maybe he was trying to get more information !! we already report this number to the police in our city.

my house got a call from this number today too saying the same thing...this is like the 3rd time they call my house. the second time he called, my mom responded by saying, "you're not my husbands relative! you don't sound like a family member of ours!" and they hung up!
